    Chapter 88

Seeing Shi Quan lifeless in Yin Suna’s hands, Yan Shaohang thought the matter was over.

Unexpectedly, Yin Suna actually used her dagger to cut open Shi Quan’s clothes on his back, then, as if mad, bit into Shi Quan’s body.

She tore off a piece of flesh and blood from Shi Quan, and with her scattered, loose hair, Yin Suna looked nothing like a normal person.

Blood still dripped slowly from the bitten flesh, like Yin Suna’s own bleeding heart. She sat blankly on Shi Quan’s corpse, all hope gone from her eyes, her gaze empty and lifeless like a robot whose power had been cut off, unmoving. Her brother had died for her, Wu Hao, who had saved her more than once, had also lost his life at Shi Quan’s hands. Now, she had finally avenged Wu Hao, personally killing the murderer Shi Quan, but she had also lost her spiritual support, unsure how to continue living… or what to live for…

Yan Shaohang, standing nearby, was stunned by Yin Suna’s actions, unsure what he could do to comfort the poor girl, or even if he should approach.

After a while, Yin Suna finally regained her senses, spitting out the bloody piece of meat in her mouth. She casually wiped the blood from her lips and stood up—she hated Shi Quan so much, how could she really have an appetite for his flesh? It was just that she no longer knew how else to vent her hatred. Even if she became a zombie, she wouldn’t want to eat the flesh of someone like Shi Quan.

Completely enveloped in a sense of hopeless weariness, Yin Suna turned her head and saw Yan Shaohang, who had helped her earlier but had been kicked away by her, standing there somewhat helplessly, his innocent eyes looking at her as if he had something to say but was hesitant to speak.

But Yin Suna was too tired. Before this, she had fought too many battles with zombies while chasing the fleeing Shi Quan.

And because her hatred for Shi Quan made it difficult for her to calm down, she couldn’t bother to plan her route, killing any zombie she encountered without a second thought. She vented most of her emotions on the other zombies.

Now, having completely lost the will to live, Yin Suna naturally didn’t care about the opinions or views of others, so she ignored Yan Shaohang and turned to leave.

But after only a few steps, her body went limp and she fell to the ground, her strength completely exhausted and her spirit unable to support her any longer…

“Has Yin Suna not woken up yet?” Yan Shaohang came down from the second floor of the hotel, and shook his head after hearing Yan Song’s question.

“Now that you’ve confirmed that the virus in her body is undergoing a second evolution, why not just let her fend for herself outside? You’ve already seen the strength and uncontrollable bloodlust of Shi Quan after his second evolution. If we keep a similar Yin Suna around, what if she regains her spirit and the four of us together can’t suppress her berserk state?” Yan Song sat at the reception desk, his chin propped on his hands, his expression grave as he asked Yan Shaohang.

“I don’t want to burden the three of you. If you feel it’s too dangerous, leave while she’s still weak,” Yan Shaohang said thoughtfully after opening a bottle of mineral water they had brought back from outside and taking a small sip.

“That’s easy for you to say. Where can we go even if we leave? Besides, like you said before, how can I take care of the two girls by myself? And since you ran into a perverted infected like Shi Quan on just one trip out, how can we guarantee that we won’t encounter a second Shi Quan outside? Anyway, I’m not going to leave you here and run off on my own!” Yan Song rolled his eyes at Yan Shaohang, trying to dissuade him from thinking he could handle everything alone.

“Besides, if it weren’t for you, we might have died in the school a long time ago. You saved all three of our lives. What does it matter if we give them back to you?” Yan Song was telling the truth. If Yan Shaohang, the backbone of their four-person team, was gone, none of the three of them would be able to make decisions, not to mention the dangers lurking outside. None of them dared to say for sure whether they could find another suitable place to take refuge.

“Don’t be so absolute. How can you be sure that Wei Wei and Liu Jie don’t want to leave? Don’t impose your thoughts and decisions on others. If they want to go, then you should leave with them. With you there, their chances of survival will be higher,” Yan Shaohang had already decided not to give up on Yin Suna, who might be undergoing another virus infection and evolution, so he wouldn’t easily change his mind. But out of concern for the situation of the other three, he didn’t want Yan Song to make such an important decision alone, because he knew that Yan Song was very loyal to his friends, but the other two girls weren’t so easily swayed by emotions.

“We’re not leaving either. Running away doesn’t solve the problem. And don’t think of us girls as so weak. After all, we’re not ordinary people anymore. Even if we can’t help you too much, we won’t just be protected by you all the time! It’s embarrassing,” Wei Wei and Liu Jie, who had come out of the room on the first floor, said somewhat unconvinced, before Yan Shaohang and Yan Song could finish their conversation.

“Yeah. We always have to escape first. We’re not like ordinary people anymore, okay? We can guarantee that we won’t be a burden,” Liu Jie nodded in agreement, interrupting Wei Wei.

“See? It’s not just me who thinks this way,” Yan Song said with a smug smile as he looked at Yan Shaohang after hearing the two girls’ words, spreading his hands to indicate that his decision was not a dictatorial act.

“You guys…” Yan Shaohang was very surprised. He certainly didn’t expect the three of them to have such a surprisingly consistent idea without prior consultation.

“Okay,” Yan Shaohang knew that everyone had the right to choose how to live in this situation. Just as Yan Song said, if the three of them encountered misfortune after leaving, then it would be related to his current choice. In that case, it was better to let the three of them stay anyway. With more people, even if Yin Suna had a problem, she wouldn’t necessarily be able to kill all four of them at once.
