BC Chapter 33
by Volare“No, no, no! How could he possibly be dead!” Fang Jun immediately trembled, closing his eyes and vehemently denying it. Although he knew the woman didn’t believe him, he couldn’t possibly speak the truth directly. Not telling the truth gave him a chance to live; if he told the truth, he was sure the woman behind him would kill him without hesitation.
“Not dead? Then prove it to me.” The woman slid her dagger back into the sheath strapped to her leg, took the safety off the gun in her hand, and pressed it against Fang Jun’s back.
Fang Jun felt the touch of the gun muzzle, immediately raising his arms nervously, the sweat on his face visible to the naked eye.
“Sis-sister! You have to be careful, guns don’t have eyes!” Fang Jun’s lips trembled, his face looking like he was about to cry.
Dai Liang and Huang Wei on the ground also shakily got up, raising their hands and nervously staring at the black-clad woman behind Fang Jun.
“Let’s go, to your so-called base.” The black-clad woman nudged Fang Jun’s back with the gun muzzle, gesturing for him to lead the way.
Fang Jun was so frightened that he almost lost control of his bladder, stumbling forward and starting to walk.
The three men led the way, with the black-clad woman following behind, gun in hand.
Fang Jun wasn’t as scared now, thinking about how to get rid of the woman behind him while walking, and also cautiously looking around, worried about any zombies wandering over from other places.
The pharmacy was only three blocks away from their new base. The journey was too short, not giving Fang Jun much time to do anything sneaky. However, he still held onto the hope of tricking the woman into the base. He believed that even if the woman had a gun, she couldn’t take on a dozen people at once if they joined forces with the brothers at the base.
However, just as the three men and one woman were about to reach the intersection of the base, they clearly heard a woman running and loudly crying from the other end of the intersection they had just passed. Moreover, very clearly, the sound was getting closer and closer to the four of them.
At this time, anyone with normal intelligence knew what such a loud noise would attract in this dark and quiet night.
…
In the business office building where Mei Ting’s group of four first met Wu Hao’s group of three, only Huang Xiaolin and Hu Ying were left after Mei Ting and Wang Dong left.
The two women still had the supplies they had collected together in their backpacks. Because they were quite timid, they had hidden in the training center where they had taken refuge and spent two days. However, even if the food and water in their bags were enough for them to last for two more days, they couldn’t bear to live a life of closing their doors and being worried. Because they were worried about whether Wang Dong and Mei Ting had encountered any misfortune at the hands of the group of three, and they also had fantasies about the unknown situation outside, the two decided to escape the building.
Because they didn’t see the people they had seen before in the building, neither teammates nor enemies, they were all gone at this time. Hu Ying realized one thing – there must be a place on one of the floors of the building where they could escape! Moreover, if they were lucky enough to find that exit, they could also escape safely from here.
Although she didn’t know where the exit was, since she had to avoid the hordes of zombies in front of the building, the exit must be on the back of the building to avoid being seen by the zombies outside.
The two searched from the third floor down and just found the rope ladder left by Lu Ziming and Zhou Yuanyuan in the bathroom on the second floor. However, the small window in the bathroom was a bit high. Huang Xiaolin was petite and usually a weak girl. Watching Hu Ying climb up in no time, Huang Xiaolin below was so anxious that she was about to cry.
Hu Ying leaned out, looked at the situation outside, and didn’t rush to climb out.
Fortunately, it was night, so the situation where the zombies were bustling in front of the building like during the day had stopped. They were neither sitting nor lying down, but their emotions were not as excited as during the day. Most of the zombies were repeating some meaningless actions. Some zombies that looked more like normal people were doing some actions similar to their previous lives. Some zombies held one hand in mid-air, as if they were reading a book or looking at a mobile phone; some zombies held their ribs with their arms, holding their hands in mid-air, probably playing games; some zombies’ heads were constantly shaking left and right, as if they were dancing; some zombies put their palms to their lips and then moved them away, as if they were blowing kisses, but thinking about it, no one would make it a habit to blow kisses every day, this was probably smoking…
Hu Ying leaned out of the window, looking left and right, and after confirming that there were no zombie shadows below, she breathed a sigh of relief. Although she could vaguely hear the meaningless growls of the zombies in front of the building from here, as long as no zombies appeared at the corner of the side of the building when the two went down, they would have a chance to escape safely.
“What should I do? I can’t get up.” Huang Xiaolin looked at Hu Ying tentatively looking outside, afraid that Hu Ying would leave by herself and leave her to fend for herself in this building.
“Don’t be afraid, I’ll go down and help you up later.” Hu Ying and Huang Xiaolin didn’t have much food and drink left in their backpacks, so they weren’t heavy. Before leaving, the two divided the remaining supplies equally and packed their backpacks.
“Are you ready?” Hu Ying looked into Huang Xiaolin’s eyes, holding her shoulders.
Huang Xiaolin looked nervous and scared, but she still widened her eyes and nodded.
Since she was a child, her parents had taught her to be a gentle and sensible girl, so that she wouldn’t be disliked for being too tomboyish when she grew up, and it would be easier to find a boyfriend or husband. Over the years, she had always followed the rules set by her parents. After going to college, she met a boy who liked her, as her parents said. Although she didn’t quite understand what it was like to love someone, this boy was very good to her and took care of her in all aspects of life and study. Finally, she agreed to his pursuit. Just as Huang Xiaolin felt that she was becoming more and more fond of this relationship, the boy proposed to break up.
When she went to his door to ask why, she saw the boy wearing revealing clothes with another girl in his rented apartment off campus.
“You’re too conservative. You listen to your parents in everything, and you don’t let me touch you. I can’t stand it.” The boy’s face was unkind, but he still quibbled.
“So you’re with this girl?” Huang Xiaolin felt that she couldn’t understand at all. Did the person in front of her claim to love her so much, but only loved one of her organs?
“We’re not only together, but we’ve done everything. Just listen to your parents and be a virgin. Don’t come to me!” After saying that, the boy slammed the door without giving Huang Xiaolin any face.
