Chapter Index
Lu Ziming led Mushroom Head out of Tuoda and walked up the stairs on the right. Considering that Mushroom Head couldn’t walk fast behind her, she slowed down her pace. Although the blade of the long knife in her hand was already rolled, she still didn’t throw it away. Because she always felt that in this current situation, weapons were the first priority for survival, and food was secondary. After all, with weapons, one had the means to obtain food. Moreover, sometimes, the living were far more terrifying than zombies. Only when you were strong enough would you not fall into the dilemma of having to deal with zombies and guard against the living.

Not long after Lu Ziming and Mushroom Head went upstairs, three people, two men and one woman, came down from the other side of the stairs. One man had a crew cut, yellow skin, wearing a black and gold casual suit, and sneakers on his feet. The other man had a scholar-like short hair, with a slightly longer bang covering one eye, a light blue shirt unbuttoned, a white T-shirt underneath, black jeans, and PU leather business shoes. The woman had golden hair, tied high behind her head, pulling her eyebrows high, extending towards both sides of her forehead. The woman wore a suspender top and a leather jacket, with a black short skirt and five-centimeter high heels. But unlike Wang Dong and the others, these three all carried weapons. The crew-cut man held a baseball bat with several long nails embedded horizontally and vertically at the top of the bat, with the tips pointing outwards. The other short-haired man actually held a sword in his hand. The sword was old and slender, with unclear patterns engraved on the scabbard. The woman held daggers in both hands, giving a wild and dangerous feeling that matched her outfit.

During their walk, the three didn’t talk. When they passed the second floor, only the short-haired shirt man glanced towards the other side of the long corridor, where Tuoda Company was located at the very end.

But the three didn’t deliberately stay on any floor, and went straight down to the first floor. Before they reached the gate, they heard chaotic knocking and impact sounds from outside.

    “Pa.”

    “Bang bang.”

    “Pa.”

“Hey, these bastards are quite persistent. When I get out, I’ll smash their dog heads, bah.” The crew-cut man stood in front of the door, wielding his baseball bat at the air in front of him, threateningly, but the blonde girl behind him kicked him in the butt, almost sending him to the door to give the zombies outside a kowtow.

“Ah! Damn it!” After stumbling, the crew-cut man dropped the baseball bat on the ground. After steadying himself, he became furious and rushed towards the blonde girl, cursing, “Yin Suna, do you want to die?!” He grabbed the girl’s collar, his eyes wide, and gritted his teeth, continuing, “Don’t think you can mess with me just because you’re my sister!!”

“I’m not messing with you, I just don’t want to see you embarrass yourself here. Also, I’ll return those words to you, Yin Zhouhang, don’t think you can pull my collar just because you’re my brother. Next time, it won’t be as simple as scaring you.” She shook the dagger in her hand and slowly raised it to rest on Yin Zhouhang’s wrist.

The coldness from his wrist scared Yin Zhouhang into letting go instantly, quickly pulling his arm back.

“Damn it, crazy woman, you’re probably the only sister in the world who would try to kill her own brother.” Yin Zhouhang knew that Yin Suna wasn’t joking. His sister’s dark history was as long as an epic masterpiece, so much so that even his countless trips to the juvenile detention center since junior high school couldn’t attract his parents’ attention.

“Anyway, you’re just scum, no one would care if you died, might as well let me help you end it.” Yin Suna casually raised her left index finger and gently stroked the blade of the dagger in her right hand, as if the dagger in her hand was her lover.

“Get out, get out, you perverted woman. I’m really fed up with you. Do you still want to trick me into jumping off a building like you did in junior high school? You’re living fine, why should I die! Not only can’t I die, but I have to live a good life!” Yin Zhouhang picked up his wolf-toothed bat from the ground, pointed outside, and continued, “So I will never let these bastards outside have a chance to touch me. I’ll smash one if they come up! I’ll smash a pair if two come up!”

The other man remained silent, with no intention of paying attention to these crazy siblings. He just moved around silently, observing the surroundings.

“Someone lured the zombies here. If we continue to let these zombies attack this door, they will break in soon.” Finally, he stood in front of the door, looking at the hideous zombie crowd.

“What??!! No way? This door looks pretty strong, it shouldn’t break so quickly, right?” Yin Zhouhang, holding the homemade wolf-toothed bat in one hand, touched the glass of the door with the other, and asked. But he didn’t expect that his action, which seemed like feeding the zombies, intensified the zombies’ madness outside, so the frequency of the impacts obviously increased and the sound became louder.

“You silly boy! Are you brainless? Wu Hao already said it, just listen to him. Why are you touching the door like a madman?” Yin Suna couldn’t help but explode when she saw Yin Zhouhang being foolish and wanted to kick him. Fortunately, Yin Zhouhang was prepared this time and dodged his sister’s consecutive kicks in advance.

“Go collect food, prepare to leave here.” Wu Hao didn’t say much, only the important things. The reason why Yin Suna chose to follow Wu Hao wasn’t just because he was handsome, but also because they had been able to turn danger into safety many times with Wu Hao around. Although Yin Suna was a bit of a lookist, she wouldn’t joke with her own life. Her survival philosophy was that she could play with life, but she could never be played with by life or other people, so she always had a dagger with her, it used to be a spring knife, then a folding knife, but now she still thought long daggers and straight daggers were easier to use, easier to carry, and didn’t require much physical strength from the user. Choosing to follow Wu Hao was also because he had good judgment, as well as action and physical strength, making him suitable as a team leader.

“Okay.” Yin Suna, who was ready to strangle her brother in the previous second, responded with a serious face after hearing Wu Hao’s words.

“Let’s go.” The three went upstairs again, following the route that Lu Ziming and Mushroom Head had just taken, closely behind them.

When Yin Suna and the others had just reached the first floor, Lu Ziming had already taken Mushroom Head to the third floor. The entire third floor was rented by a dance training center, so apart from four changing rooms and an office, the rest of the rooms were empty dance studios. Lu Ziming searched through the four changing rooms, and apart from some locked lockers and some empty lockers, she found a backpack of snacks and two unopened bottles of mineral water. She even found a few sets of sportswear, probably left by the dance teachers who used to work here. She let Mushroom Head pick out a set that fit her, and Lu Ziming stuffed the rest into another backpack and had Mushroom Head carry it.

“Eat this.” Seeing that they had collected almost everything, Lu Ziming casually took a bottle of water and a palm-sized bread and gave it to Mushroom Head.

“My name is Zhou Yuanyuan.” Mushroom Head looked at the bread and water in Lu Ziming’s hand and didn’t take it immediately, but frowned and said.

“Oh… Lu Ziming. Can you take the stuff now?” Lu Ziming was stunned by Zhou Yuanyuan’s sudden self-introduction. What was this? Teenage neurosis?? Didn’t understand. But in order to appear polite, she still gave her name.

Zhou Yuanyuan actually felt nauseous when she saw the bread, after all, she had just been splashed with a mouthful of blood, and seeing food reminded her of what had just happened.

But Lu Ziming had saved her life twice, so although she was reluctant, she took the water and bread, opened the water, and rinsed her mouth thoroughly, until only half the bottle was left, then she put away the water and opened the bread to eat. While she was doing this, Lu Ziming turned around again, thinking about seeing if there was anything that could be used as a weapon, but still didn’t find anything.

When Lu Ziming returned to Zhou Yuanyuan’s side, she found that the locked lockers had all been opened.

“…You… how did you do it?” Lu Ziming was speechless for a while before she remembered to ask Zhou Yuanyuan, who was still slowly eating bread.

“Learned it from a good brother I used to hang out with, picking locks.” Zhou Yuanyuan said, raising her other hand, holding a deformed black hairpin in her hand. “I’m not very good at it, so I can only open these simple locks. Safes and the like won’t work.”

Lu Ziming couldn’t bother to be surprised anymore, she just quickly searched through the unlocked lockers, packing up the useful food.

“I think this scissors and hand-cranked flashlight should also be useful.” She walked to one of the lockers and packed up the scissors and flashlight. “Oh, this can be my weapon.” She said, taking out the arm strength spring stick standing in the corner of a locker. “Wow, it’s quite heavy…”.

Lu Ziming ignored her, packed up the things, and walked out first.

    “Fourth floor.”

“Oh.” Zhou Yuanyuan had gotten used to Lu Ziming’s taciturnity and was beginning to keep up with Lu Ziming’s pace, but what made her happiest was that she had exchanged names with Lu Ziming.

This was what it meant to be a companion traveling together. She slowly curved the corners of her mouth and followed Lu Ziming happily.
