Chapter Index

“Team Yao hasn’t returned to meet us for two days. I wonder if things are progressing smoothly on their end…” Zhang Yan tore open the small biscuit wrapper in her hand, took out a piece and put it in her mouth, chewing casually as she asked.

“It’s definitely going smoothly and happily. Don’t worry about it. After all, we were all rescued by Team Yao. If she can arrange things well for us, she can settle the survivors at the second base. Let’s just do what we need to do and wait for her good news.” Fan Yiwen tilted her head back and drank the last of the water in her bottle. Hearing Zhang Yan’s words, she immediately frowned, shaking her head and waving her hands. After comforting Zhang Yan, she raised her hand to wipe the water droplets from the corner of her mouth.

“Yeah, what we really need to worry about is when the follow-up rescue team will arrive. After all, the nearby places and shops have been emptied of anything useful and edible by us. Now, even rats would cry and pack their bags if they went to those places.” Yuan Na flattened the empty biscuit bag on her lap, vaguely recalling her childhood—when she would flatten the leftover candy wrappers and keep them in her books or pencil case, treasuring them like priceless treasures. Now that she was almost finished with college, she felt as if she had encountered reincarnation in advance, doing the same things she did as a child at this life-or-death moment.

“Nana! What are you doing! Be good, you can’t eat the bag. Here, if you’re not full, I’ll give you another biscuit. Throw the bag away, listen to me, give it to Sister Yan.” As she spoke, Zhang Yan actually pretended to reach out to take Yuan Na’s bag.

“Who wants to eat the bag! Get away from me, you’re crazy!” Yuan Na, who had been a little serious, was amused by Zhang Yan’s words and her serious expression, and burst out laughing, throwing the empty bag to her as she scolded playfully.

Just as the group was chatting and laughing together, the team that went out to search for supplies returned with their backpacks. Although they hadn’t found much, it was better than nothing.

As the team members handed over their supply backpacks to the person in charge of managing everyone’s supplies one by one, an unforeseen event occurred. One of the two young men guarding the door was sent flying through the air and crashed heavily to the ground. Several young girls near the door were so frightened that they screamed “Ah!” and ran into the crowd. Most people didn’t know what had happened, but they were drawn by the girls’ screams and looked uneasily towards the gate.

Then, the other young man was lifted up as if he were a chick, his neck being choked.

The newcomer was wearing a white outfit made of windbreaker material, slightly fitted, with short silver-gray dyed hair, a cold aura, and a contemptuous smile on his face as he stared at the person he was choking.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk, what’s the point of having two good-for-nothings guarding the door? I didn’t even have to break in, you just let me in. Didn’t you ever think about the consequences?” The short-haired man walked into the sales hall with big strides, sneering at the two young men.

“Ugh, ugh…” The young man who was being choked had a face that had turned liver-colored from lack of oxygen, waving his hands and feet trying to break free from the other’s control, but to no avail. He could only make some inaudible whimpering sounds.

“Huh? What did you say? I can’t hear you. So… you’ll be quiet forever.” The short-haired man pretended to pick his ear with the little finger of his other hand, and then, without even looking at the person in his hand, exerted force with his entire palm and fingers, instantly crushing the other’s throat. Blood splattered from the broken neck, spraying half of the short-haired man’s face, but he acted as if nothing had happened, casually throwing the person on the ground, and taking out a handkerchief to wipe his face.

It wasn’t until he wiped his face and looked up, seeing the group of people in the hall staring at him in stunned silence, that he belatedly curled the corners of his mouth into a smile, a neurotic and perverted smile: “I thought there were only a dozen or so little lambs, but there are so many… Jackpot, jackpot… Hehe.”

    “Who are you?!”

“Yeah! Who are you! How dare you kill someone!!” The young men’s classmates were stunned for a moment by what had just happened, but they quickly recovered and the indignant crowd moved forward. Compared to the horror of zombies, everyone didn’t seem to feel too much of a shock at seeing someone kill another person.

It has to be said that humans are truly monsters with incredible adaptability.

“Die!” Just as the short-haired man was confronting the men and women, a figure quickly ran out from the back of the crowd, raising a baton to strike.

The smile on the short-haired man’s face didn’t fade as he dodged the attack with a sidestep.

“Want me to die? Seems… a little difficult…” The short-haired man muttered calmly while quickly throwing a punch, striking directly at the other’s waist and abdomen.

“Uncle Zheng, be careful! Below!” Wang Jiaolong, who was in the crowd, saw the punch hidden in the blind spot and immediately shouted.

Only then did everyone realize that the person who had rushed out was the school security guard, the same one who had taught Wang Jiaolong a lesson before.
