Chapter 59: The Sooner, the Better

After Qiao Gongyu arrived, the others who had been napping also came downstairs one after another.

The atmosphere livened up considerably due to the arrival of Qiao Gongyu and Tang Jingxuan. In the afternoon, under Qin Yuanging’s strong insistence, they organized a mahjong game again.

Li Chongge still didn’t join the game. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to play a couple of rounds with Qin Yuanging, but mainly because he was afraid the others wouldn’t relax if he was there.

Li Chongge had just sat down next to Qin Yuanging when Qiao Gongyu called him outside.

The hotel’s landscaping also included many maple trees. The timing was perfect, and as far as the eye could see, it was a layered, fiery red scene.

Qiao Gongyu offered Li Chongge a cigarette, but he didn’t take it.

    “I quit.”

To a certain extent, Li Chongge was frighteningly calm. No matter how much pressure he faced, he refused to use nicotine to temporarily numb himself.

Only with Qin Yuanging did he always stumble.

Qiao Gongyu didn’t insist, put the cigarette away, and lit one for himself.

He jokingly said, “I never thought you’d have a day like this.”

Through the window, Li Chongge could vaguely see the outline of Qin Yuanging’s figure, so his gaze would always linger in that direction, seemingly unintentionally.

    “Like what?”

“I don’t know how to describe it, but before, I thought you’d scoff at love.”

Li Chongge didn’t seem like the type to be troubled by love.

“If there were no Qin Yuanging, that would probably be the case.”

Li Chongge’s time was precious. Apart from Qin Yuanging, he didn’t want to give it to anyone.

So, if Li Chongge hadn’t fallen in love with Qin Yuanging from the start, he probably would have found love to be a waste of time.

Qiao Gongyu looked at Li Chongge with more curiosity, finding his being shrouded in love quite rare.

“So, what are your plans next?”

Qiao Gongyu knew what Qin Yuanging meant to Li Chongge, so he naturally guessed that their relationship would be revealed to the public before long.

However, neither the Qin family nor the Li family would likely let go of the matter so easily.

But Li Chongge seemed confident. He habitually turned the ring on his finger, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, and said, “After everything is settled at home, I will marry Qin Yuanging.”

    The sooner, the better.

But Qiao Gongyu thought he was a little too optimistic.

“Your father might not be so easy to talk to, right?”

Perhaps because he was successful in love, Qin Yuanging was unlucky at the gambling table today, with terrible luck.

But he was in a good mood and was not affected at all.

Deng Weien mercilessly won Qin Yuanging’s hand and asked, “What’s wrong with you today? You seem to be on stimulants.”

Zhang Zhaolin followed by winning Qin Yuanging’s next hand, his tone a bit cold: “Maybe that cup of black coffee this morning was too strong. Would you like a cup?”

Deng Weien stretched his neck to look at Qin Yuanging’s cards, frowning at how bad they were.

“I don’t think so, it’s more like he’s in love.”

Guan Yuchao flipped over his tiles for a self-draw, looking much more energetic than in the morning.

“A-Yuan is very busy every day, where would he have time for love?”

Qin Yuanging slightly restrained his smile, but his tone was still casual: “Of course, I’m happy to be out playing. Look at you guys, all gloomy, not at all like you’re out relaxing.”

Just as he was speaking, Li Chongge and Qiao Gongyu returned.

Qiao Gongyu heard them chatting lively as he entered the door. After coming in, he casually asked, “What are you guys talking about, so happy?”

Zhang Zhaolin wasn’t very interested to begin with. Seeing Qiao Gongyu come over, he took the initiative to give up his seat.

An extra chair had been added next to Qin Yuanging in advance, and Li Chongge sat down directly next to him.

Deng Weien chimed in, “We’re talking about whether A-Yuan is in love.”

Qiao Gongyu glanced at Li Chongge, deliberately teasing Qin Yuanging, “Really, Little Yuan is in love? With which young lady?”

Qin Yuanging nonchalantly threw out a mahjong tile. The smile he had just suppressed began to linger on his lips again, but he didn’t answer yes or no. Instead, he said, “When that day comes, I’ll treat you to a meal.”

As Qin Yuanging said this, one of his hands pulled at the corner of Li Chongge’s clothes that was hanging down beside him under the table. Before he could leave, a warm hand quietly grasped his.

Qiao Gongyu keenly noticed the two’s small actions and smiled silently.

After Li Chongge returned, Qin Yuanging’s luck began to improve, and he even won in the end.

The biggest loser, Deng Weien, looked at Qin Yuanging and sighed, “I didn’t expect you to turn your luck around in the second half.”

Qin Yuanging smiled and said, “Maybe Li Chongge brings me good luck.”

Sun Qihao, who had just arrived at the door to call them for dinner, rolled his eyes silently.

Everyone was usually quite busy, and since they had gathered together with such difficulty, there was no reason to go back to their rooms after dinner.

Because there was an even larger public hot spring in the courtyard, Deng Weien suggested that everyone go for a soak together.

Qin Yuanging returned to his room and was searching for his square-leg swim trunks in his suitcase.

Li Chongge stood behind him, hesitant to speak.

“What’s wrong? Don’t you want to go?”

Li Chongge shook his head. He himself didn’t care, but his possessiveness was acting up. He didn’t want Qin Yuanging to expose his body in front of others.

But that wasn’t the main problem.

“Otherwise, you should go look in the bathroom mirror. On your body…”

Qin Yuanging paused in his search for clothes. Certain images instantly flooded his mind, and he quickly rushed into the bathroom.

Taking off his clothes, the varied, ambiguous red marks on his skin made Qin Yuanging’s entire head turn red.

    All Li Chongge’s handiwork.

Deng Weien and Sun Qihao were all veterans of the dating scene. With just one glance at those marks, Qin Yuanging’s little secret would be exposed.

Even if he didn’t consider anything else, Qin Yuanging was too embarrassed to let people see them.

Returning to the room, Qin Yuanging looked at Li Chongge with some distress.

“What should I do? Should I not go?”

In the end, Qin Yuanging still went. After all, they had already agreed, and suddenly not going would be too suspicious.

But Qin Yuanging sitting in the hot spring wrapped tightly in a bath towel was just as suspicious.

    “You’re… starting a new trend?”

Qin Yuanging smiled awkwardly, carefully glancing at Sun Qihao.

Sun Qihao then gritted his teeth and said, “I heard from a Chinese medicine practitioner that covering your whole body when soaking in a hot spring can have a sauna effect. Why don’t you try it?”

Qin Yuanging secretly gave Sun Qihao a thumbs up in his heart, admiring his excellent improvisation.

But Qin Yuanging was really hot, and the heat with nowhere to escape was about to steam him into a live shrimp.

Li Chongge had been paying attention to his flushed cheeks, his brow furrowing repeatedly. He couldn’t bear it any longer, and after simply apologizing, he pulled Qin Yuanging out of the hot spring in the surprised gazes of the others.

Watching the backs of the two as they left, Guan Yuchao was a little confused: “Why do I feel like they’re a bit strange?”

Sun Qihao retorted decisively: “No, this is normal. You’re overthinking it!”
