    Chapter 46: Deliberately Antagonizing

After undergoing a baptism of language at the hands of the human resources department, Secretary Bai returned to Qin Yuanging’s office, crestfallen.

“President Qin, Sister Zhang said we’re not hiring a secretary, we’re looking for trouble with her. She also said I’m delaying her work. Otherwise, maybe you could lower the standards? If the standards are too high, it’s really hard to find a suitable person.”

Secretary Bai urgently needed a partner to share the workload, so he turned around to persuade Qin Yuanging.

Qin Yuanging was busy. Hearing this, he took the time to look up and said faintly, “It’s not that my standards are high, it’s that your standards are too high. In my opinion, although Secretary Liu is very good, even one-tenth or one-twelfth of her is just normal, so it shouldn’t be difficult to hire someone. You’re personally interviewing everyone. Secretary Bai, do you think it’s possible that Secretary Liu is too perfect in your mind, so unconsciously, you’re raising the requirements very high?”

Secretary Bai scratched the tip of his nose and then avoided Qin Yuanging’s gaze, “I just hope that the colleagues who work with me in the future can be more capable. This has nothing to do with Liu Han.”

“Oh? So Secretary Liu’s name is Liu Han? It seems like you have a good relationship in private?”

Hearing the teasing in Qin Yuanging’s tone, Secretary Bai put on a deadpan expression and forcibly quibbled, “President Qin, my private exchanges with Secretary Liu are mostly for handling your private matters with Mr. Li.”

    “For example?”

Secretary Bai pushed up his glasses and then listed them one by one: “For example, when Mr. Li was on a business trip last time, you asked me to inquire about his itinerary with Secretary Liu. And the time Mr. Li was in a meeting, you asked me to ask Secretary Liu how long he would be, so you could watch the time to wait for him to get off work, and…”

Qin Yuanging ruthlessly interrupted his rambling.

“Secretary Bai, I’m just joking, you don’t need to take it too seriously.”

“Oh right, please put the meeting materials needed for this afternoon’s meeting on my desk before you start work this afternoon, thank you.”

Secretary Bai resentfully shut his mouth and turned to go out.

“Wait a minute.” Qin Yuanging suddenly sat up straight and asked him, “So, have you revealed any of my itineraries to Secretary Liu?”

Secretary Bai had a moment of guilty conscience.

“This… out of courtesy, there have been some occasionally.”

Qin Yuanging tapped the desk, indicating that he should confess everything.

“The time I went on a business trip with you to Qingyuan City some time ago, she asked me about the hotel you were staying at.”

Secretary Liu has a good sense of boundaries and could never or had no need to inquire about these things.

    So… did Li Chongge ask?

Qin Yuanging suddenly thought of the familiar figure that flashed by on the street that night. Could it be that Li Chongge had gone to see him?

That figure was not a hallucination produced by Qin Yuanging’s longing, but Li Chongge himself?

But if he went, why didn’t he show up and not say a word?

Qin Yuanging suppressed his huge doubts and asked Secretary Bai, “What else?”

“Um… about a month ago, she asked me to tell her when you had plans to go back to your residence in Jiangtan.”

Qin Yuanging now knew why he had deliberately avoided Li Chongge’s possible time that afternoon but was still caught by him.

Secretary Bai still hasn’t noticed the difference between his actions and Secretary Liu’s.

All of Secretary Liu’s actions were to complete Li Chongge’s instructions, while Secretary Bai, for the most part, belonged to acting on his own accord.

The gap between secretaries was highlighted again at this moment.

But fortunately, Qin Yuanging didn’t care.

Secretary Bai belatedly realized that Qin Yuanging’s mood was a bit strange now. It couldn’t be said that he was angry, but his face was really a bit serious.

Secretary Bai, who considered himself very skilled in observing words and expressions, thought about it and asked cautiously, “Then in the future, if Secretary Liu asks about your itinerary again, should I tell her or not?”

He vaguely felt that it seemed he should still tell her…

Qin Yuanging didn’t even have the desire to glare at him and told him very bluntly: “No matter what she asks, you should report to me first and let me decide whether or not to reveal it, instead of making decisions on your own!”

Secretary Bai nodded to show that he understood, but secretly felt that these two people were a little abnormal. If every message needed to be approved by the person involved, why didn’t they directly ask each other?

He felt that he needed to discuss the complexity and repetition of human nature with Secretary Liu.

After all, it was too profound for him.

After Secretary Bai went out, Qin Yuanging could no longer calm down to work.

A blank document highlighted his uneasy mood.

He felt that Li Chongge was deliberately antagonizing him.

He finally made up his mind to be brave, but was ruthlessly pushed away.

Finally, after he had difficultly accepted the fact that Li Chongge didn’t like him, some inexplicable things popped up, seemingly proving that Li Chongge cared about him a lot.

But this time Qin Yuanging didn’t dare to be self-indulgent again.

Even if Li Chongge cared about him a lot, he would only understand it as the kind of care between friends.

But Qin Yuanging still couldn’t give himself a reasonable explanation for that photo that had been treasured for many years.

Undeniably, Qin Yuanging would still feel his heart flutter because of this, but if he kept crashing like this, the deer would be exhausted sooner or later.

So Qin Yuanging chose not to think about it.

He had the perseverance to move forward and never give up on anything, but only on this matter was Qin Yuanging willing to be an ostrich.

Okay, actually he wasn’t that willing.

The four-hour drive between Jing City and Qingyuan City, if Li Chongge really came, why would he leave silently again?

This was quite important to Qin Yuanging.

It wasn’t that he wanted to prove anything, Qin Yuanging just wanted to “die” with a clear understanding.

Qin Yuanging took out the old photo from his wallet. Even though he had tried his best to recall, he still couldn’t remember when it was taken or why it would fall into Li Chongge’s hands.

Li Chongge called last night, wanting to take back that card holder.

If Qin Yuanging guessed correctly, what he really wanted to take back should be this photo.

But for some reason, he changed his mind again and still let the photo fall into Qin Yuanging’s hands.

Qin Yuanging picked up his phone and sent a message to Li Chongge.

“Didn’t you say you wanted to take that card holder? When will you be free? I can bring it to you.”

Qin Yuanging was a little curious, what would Li Chongge’s reaction be after he found out that the photo had been taken away?

    Would he be flustered?

It shouldn’t be very likely. In Qin Yuanging’s cognition, Li Chongge had never shown this expression. He seemed to have everything under control, always at ease and calm.

    “Dinner together tonight?”

Qin Yuanging replied: “Okay, I’ll bring it to you. Where should we eat?”

    “My place, I’ll cook.”

    “Okay.”
