    Chapter 3: He’s Angry

Qingming Eve, Li Chongge drove back to the Li family’s old residence late at night.

The Li family’s old residence is a simple and unsophisticated Chinese-style courtyard structure, covering a vast area, with a magnificent momentum and exquisite scenery.

For a large family like the Li family, ancestor worship is a paramount event, so people from all branches and generations gathered at the old residence.

Li Chongge arrived late, but no one blamed him for anything.

Entering Li Tenghe’s study, he was painting the fat carp in the fish tank.

    “Dad.”

“Why not come back tomorrow morning?”

This was blaming Li Chongge for dawdling.

    “Busy.”

“Busy with what?” Li Tenghe put down his brush. Even though his tone didn’t change much, it carried an imposing air of authority.

“Don’t always use ‘busy’ as an excuse for me. Have I not held your position before? How could you be so busy that you don’t have time to rest or go home?”

Li Tenghe raised his eyelids, looked at his increasingly taciturn son, and sighed.

“When that kid from the Qin family was around, you were willing to go out with him for some recreation. But since he left, you haven’t allowed yourself to relax at all.”

“He’s the same age as me,” Li Chongge corrected.

He wasn’t some kid. He had his own ideas.

Li Tenghe waved his hand, not really caring.

“Did you see Granddaughter of Old Lin when you came in?”

“This is Qingming, not Qixi. It’s inappropriate for you to set me up on a blind date at this time.”

    Li Tenghe: “…”

“I didn’t ask you to go on a blind date, just to get to know each other.”

    Li Chongge frowned and refused.

“The project with Mingfan is launching next month, and I have a lot on my plate. I don’t really have the time for that.”

“Whether you don’t have the time or you don’t want to, you know it clearly in your heart.”

Li Tenghe had expected Li Chongge to refuse, so he wasn’t too angry.

“I’m only 27 years old. Li Hongtao will be 35 after this year. If you and your uncle want to worry, worry about him first.”

Over the years, Li Hongtao had single-handedly taken on a lot of the family pressure for his younger cousins.

    “Is he here?”

“Yes, playing cards on the second floor.”

“Call him in here for me!”

    “Okay.”

Li Chongge didn’t feel any guilt about selling out his cousin.

Qin Yuanging had been back in Jing City for a week. Previously, he had been responsible for the Qin family’s overseas business. After much deliberation, he chose a subsidiary company named Huichuang, whose main business was high-end design, and directly parachuted in as CEO.

It wasn’t that he was particularly interested in design, it was simply because the position had opened up at Huichuang.

For several days in a row, Qin Yuanging holed himself up in the company to familiarize himself with the business.

“President Qin, a Miss Jiang wants to see you, but she doesn’t have an appointment. What do you think…”

The secretary lightly knocked on the door, interrupting Qin Yuanging’s thoughts.

    “Let her in.”

Jiang Muyuan stepped into Qin Yuanging’s office in her stiletto heels, casually tossing her Hermes bag on the office’s reception sofa, and then crossed her arms and looked around.

“Your Qin family only has one son, right? Is this considered the crown prince being exiled to the frontier?”

Since finding out about Qin Yuanging’s sexual orientation, Jiang Muyuan had automatically upgraded him to a close friend, and she became much more casual in her speech and actions.

“My dad is only in his early fifties, right when he should be busy. Wansheng has him at the helm, what am I supposed to do there?”

There were many siblings of Jiang Muyuan’s generation in the Jiang family, and it was common for them to fight to the death for a little bit of profit. Qin Yuanging, as the only child, couldn’t understand their difficulties.

Qin Yuanging raised his wrist to check the time. There was still an hour until lunchtime.

“Do you need something from me?”

Jiang Muyuan took the tea that the secretary brought over and casually placed it aside.

“I just signed a contract nearby and stopped by to see you.”

“Don’t just look, do you have any business to introduce to me?”

Huichuang takes the high-end route, the company’s positioning is primarily luxurious and expensive, but in the current economic environment, people who are willing to spend money on decoration and design are not as many as before, so it has been losing money for three consecutive years.

Whenever Qin Yuanging does something, he must do it to the extreme, especially since Huichuang has hundreds of employees waiting to be paid.

“Unfortunately, Deng Weien’s club, Dong Haolin’s hotel, and Gu Jiajia’s chess hall have already opened. But… I heard that Kewei and Mingfan are going to set up a resort at the end of the year, you might be able to give that a try?”

Qin Yuanging leaned back in his office chair, took out a cigarette from the cigarette case, held it in his hand, but didn’t light it.

“How could Kewei cooperate with Mingfan?”

With Kewei’s strength, Mingfan was simply not good enough.

“The land that Kewei has set its sights on belongs to Mingfan. Catering and service are Mingfan’s old business. Naturally, they would take this opportunity to latch onto Kewei and want a piece of the pie. Although it is said to the outside world that the two companies are cooperating, no one outside really knows how much Mingfan has.”

Although it wasn’t explicitly stated, they could probably guess that, given Mingfan’s current situation, it would be a bit difficult for them to truly get a seat at the table.

“But what exactly are you thinking? Since you came back, you’ve been avoiding Li Chongge. Then what did you come back for?”

Jiang Muyuan really couldn’t understand Qin Yuanging. She was a veteran of the dating scene, and in her opinion, the beginning of a relationship was very simple: profit and emotion. As long as there was one of them, that was enough.

If both sides were interested, they would get together. If they didn’t feel anything, they would kick the other person away. It was that easy.

She had kicked others, and others had kicked her.

There was no need to make a big deal out of it.

    “I haven’t decided yet.”

Li Chongge must be angry. The last time they met, he was very cold.

“Think about it slowly. Are you going to do this resort business or not? If you do, you inevitably won’t be able to avoid Li Chongge.”

“Whether or not I do it is a matter for later. I have to go see the site first and see if Huichuang can handle it.”

The resort area built by Kewei would inevitably be huge in scale. A design company of Huichuang’s size, without any big-name designers, might not be able to handle it.

Jiang Muyuan had other things to do, so Qin Yuanging didn’t ask her to have lunch together.

He was busy until after three o’clock in the afternoon. Qin Yuanging took his car keys, entered the address Jiang Muyuan had sent him, and navigated to the selected site for the resort.

The approximately two-hour drive was delayed by about forty minutes due to rush hour. By the time he arrived at the weedy and rocky suburbs, it was already nearly six-thirty.

Li Chongge had a good eye. This piece of land was backed by a mountain bay and bordered by a natural river, which was indeed suitable for being developed into a recreational area with mountains and water.

After taking a general look, Qin Yuanging had a rough idea in his mind. He took a long stride, planning to go home for dinner first.

He answered a work call in the car. When Qin Yuanging looked up, the sky was already completely dark. The desolate and empty suburbs only had his car lights forcefully tearing through the darkness.

Qin Yuanging picked a warm song, turned on the car’s ambient lighting, and slowly started on his way back.

It wasn’t that he had this leisure interest, it was purely because the dirt road was uneven and had many gravels. He had no choice but to carefully slide over it slowly.

But fate wouldn’t have it. Even though he had been very careful, the front right wheel still got stuck in a hidden pothole. He tried stepping on the accelerator several times, but he couldn’t get the tire out.

Qin Yuanging got out of the car and squatted in front of the car, staring at the pothole that was just a little bigger than the tire.

Well, not too big, not too small, just right… just right to get stuck in it without moving.

Qin Yuanging walked around the car again and helplessly accepted this reality.

He took out a coat from the car and put it on, lit a cigarette, opened his address book, and planned to randomly find some unlucky person to drive out and pick him up.

The sound of vehicles traveling faintly came from a distance. Qin Yuanging didn’t look up. He wasn’t so naive that he would just randomly stop a car and have them take him back to the city.

Scrolling down the address book little by little, Qin Yuanging’s finger lingered on the three words “Li Chongge” for half a second.

He found his driver’s phone number. Before he could dial it, a Mercedes-Benz G-Class quickly stopped beside him with a gust of wind.

That’s right, he should have driven a car with such a high chassis!

Qin Yuanging seriously reflected on himself.

The next second, the car window lowered, and it was Li Chongge.
