Chapter 10: Timid but Not Humble

Qin Yuanging could be considered to have smoothly secured Gao Zhida’s business. Since returning to Jing City, he hadn’t been idle, personally leading his team to create design proposals.

Although he didn’t understand design, he understood customer needs.

Gao Zhida was a good client, willing to listen and good at expressing himself. He didn’t give ambiguous or even wildly imaginative suggestions and ideas, which was very helpful for designers.

Originally, Gao Zhida’s first impression of Qin Yuanging was just a handsome rich kid. For Li Chongge’s sake, he was willing to do a favor.

But after spending time with him these past few days, he found the young man was quite good – meticulous, rigorous, humble, and low-key. He felt reassured entrusting this business deal to him.

Gao Zhida built his business from the ground up. Besides his ability and luck, his straightforward and generous personality also brought him many opportunities.

He had many friends and connections, and he casually introduced Qin Yuanging to a few more business opportunities.

Now Qin Yuanging was even busier, so busy that he hadn’t seen Li Chongge in half a month.

Qin Yuanging knew that he wasn’t really that busy. Many things didn’t require him to do them personally. But if he didn’t keep himself busy, he couldn’t control the urge to find Li Chongge.

He had a reason to see Li Chongge – Li Chongge’s shirt was still hanging in his closet.

But every time Qin Yuanging had this thought, he opened their empty chat window and lost his courage again.

Actually, when they were close before, it was mostly Qin Yuanging clinging to Li Chongge.

Li Chongge was very busy, too busy to pay attention to others.

Qin Yuanging considered himself not “others,” so he shamelessly clung to Li Chongge.

However, Li Chongge, perhaps because he was used to it, never showed impatience or rejection.

Now, after reflecting on it, Qin Yuanging felt that Li Chongge might have been annoyed with him, but he was just too well-mannered to show it.

This realization made Qin Yuanging quite hurt.

Sometimes Qin Yuanging felt like he was crazy, constantly recalling past events, trying to analyze and peel away the layers to find evidence of Li Chongge’s annoyance with him.

It seemed that only in this way could Qin Yuanging convince himself to stay away from Li Chongge.

Qin Yuanging secretly loved Li Chongge, but he loved him standing tall, not kneeling in a humble posture.

He was timid, but not humble.

So if Li Chongge really hated him, then perhaps driven by dignity, Qin Yuanging could truly let go.

But as of now, Qin Yuanging couldn’t accept this idea.

In the afternoon, Qin Yuanging received a call from Gao Zhida, saying that two friends were coming to Jing City and he was inviting him to meet them.

He spoke euphemistically, and Qin Yuanging understood that there was more business to be done.

Qin Yuanging readily agreed, called Deng Weien, booked a room, and called Wu Xiaoyun in case she was needed.

Wu Xiaoyun was an old employee of Huichuang. She had been with Huichuang since graduation, for seven years, and was now a well-known designer.

Qin Yuanging brought her along so she could better answer professional questions, so he could be more confident in winning over the client.

He always believed that impressing clients with professionalism was more in line with his ideals than conquering them with alcohol.

Although he knew that many people might think his ideas were naive.

Qin Yuanging looked at the time and drove to Deng Weien’s club with Wu Xiaoyun around four o’clock.

“President Qin, does this count as overtime?”

Although Wu Xiaoyun was already 29 years old, her round and full oval face and round eyes gave her an advantage, making her look very young.

Because Qin Yuanging didn’t act like a boss, Wu Xiaoyun got along with him quite freely, without much restraint, and could even joke with him.

“No, just consider it as me treating you to a meal. How can eating count as overtime?”

Wu Xiaoyun giggled. Not only was she not angry, but she teased Qin Yuanging.

“If it’s just dinner alone with President Qin, of course, it doesn’t count as overtime, but accompanying clients and using my brain definitely counts. If you don’t give me overtime tonight, you have to make it up to me with another dinner alone.”

Qin Yuanging found it amusing and took two bottles of good wine from the car, throwing the car keys to Wu Xiaoyun.

“Let’s win them over first. I’ll have a few drinks later. When we go back, you call Master Zheng and have him pick me up.”

Wu Xiaoyun held the keys and followed him with a smile.

“I’ll drive you, anyway, I’m destined not to sleep early tonight. I’ll be a good person to the end, so Master Zheng doesn’t have to make another trip.”

Qin Yuanging refused. He didn’t want to cause any unnecessary misunderstandings, even though no one cared.

Deng Weien had many businesses, but knowing that Qin Yuanging was coming, he personally made a trip for him.

“What, changed female companions? Aren’t you afraid Jiang Muyuan will make a fuss?”

Deng Weien was a typical playboy, with more bed partners than he could count on one hand. His definition of “beautiful” was very broad, not limited by type. Whether it was aloof or charming, cute or graceful, as long as there was a pretty face, he liked it.

In his opinion, being unfaithful was not a sin.

So even though he had a good relationship with Jiang Muyuan privately, he didn’t intend to stand up for her, but just teased Qin Yuanging.

“First of all, Wu Xiaoyun is not my female companion. She is an excellent designer. I brought her here to talk about serious business. Secondly, Jiang Muyuan and I are just ordinary friends. Even if I really brought a female companion, she wouldn’t make a fuss.”

Qin Yuanging took the cigarette from his hand and explained seriously.

Deng Weien was sensible and stopped immediately when he realized that Qin Yuanging didn’t like such jokes.

“The wine area and cigar area are on the third floor. If you need anything, just find Lin Bin. I leave this club to him to manage. He’s clever, so don’t worry.”

“Okay, let’s get together when we have time. Thank you for making this trip today.”

The three entered the elevator. Deng Weien waved his hand, somewhat dissatisfied with Qin Yuanging’s politeness.

“Why are you saying these things? You helped me a lot when I had problems back then, but now you’re being polite with me. Where did you learn this from?”

    Qin Yuanging: “…”

“Did you learn it from Li Chongge? I knew it without you saying it. He looks refined, but when he gets ruthless, he’s a killer. Quite a few people have suffered at his hands in recent years.”

“If he doesn’t act, others will act against him. The business world is like a battlefield. You’re not finding out about this today for the first time, those with a soft heart would have been crushed into dust a long time ago, he had no choice.”

Qin Yuanging snatched the whole pack of cigarettes from Deng Weien’s hand, not leaving him a single one.

Deng Weien: “…Alright, alright, I know you two have a close relationship, I’m being nosy!”

Seeing Qin Yuanging like this, he and Li Chongge didn’t seem to have broken up as the rumors said. Deng Weien was treating Qin Yuanging as a friend, that was right, but it wasn’t that pure.

To be able to get on Li Chongge’s line was what many people couldn’t even beg for.

If he could gain two or three points of favor in front of Li Chongge through Qin Yuanging, it would be of great benefit to Deng Weien and even the entire Deng family.
