WSIDIILMBOCIR Chapter 1
by VolareChapter 1: The Ultimate Longing
When Secretary led Qiao Gongyu into Li Chongge’s office, he was still busy, with several important documents waiting to be signed piled up at hand.
Hearing Qiao Gongyu come in, he didn’t even look up, his brow furrowing slightly as he intently studied the document in his hand.
Seeing him busy, Qiao Gongyu didn’t intend to speak. He politely asked the secretary for a cup of coffee and leaned lazily against the sofa, tapping away at his phone, quickly replying to someone’s messages.
When Li Chongge finished with the matter at hand, he bent his fingers and gently tapped the desk. His dark eyes sharply looked over, signaling Qiao Gongyu to get to the point.
Qiao Gongyu put away his phone, raised his eyebrows, retracted his long, crossed legs, and sat up straight.
“Smoking?”
He and Li Chongge had been friends for over a decade, so he naturally knew that he didn’t smoke much, and even learning to smoke was only something he’d picked up in the last two years.
Li Chongge didn’t answer, his face still devoid of any particular expression.
“I have a meeting in twenty minutes.”
Qiao Gongyu shook the phone in his hand, his voice very soft: “I heard he’s coming back.”
Li Chongge’s expression remained unchanged, he simply hummed softly in acknowledgement, and reached for another document.
“I think it’s still necessary to ask about what happened back then…”
“There’s no need.” Li Chongge interrupted him, his voice tinged with coldness. “He’s an adult, he has the right to make any decision for himself.”
Two years ago, Qin Yuanging suddenly went to Canada on his birthday, without explanation, without clarification, and without saying goodbye, just leaving Jing City silently.
People in their circle had all sorts of theories, concocting over a dozen different versions of his sudden departure, the most popular of which was the theory of two men vying for one woman, with Qin Yuanging regretfully leaving the stage.
Two years ago, Qin Yuanging and Jiang Muyuan of the Jiang family were quite close. Just when everyone thought they would end up together, Jiang Muyuan openly expressed her love for Li Chongge.
After that, Qin Yuanging left. Coupled with the fact that many people said Qin Yuanging’s expression was indeed not very good at the time, many naturally associated the two.
Qin Yuanging landed before Qingming, and Jiang Muyuan picked him up from the airport.
The weather in April was neither cold nor hot, and a drizzle fell appropriately.
Qin Yuanging was only wearing a camel-colored V-neck sweater, revealing two sections of fair collarbone. Because he had been on the plane for more than ten hours, his expression was a little tired, but his excellent appearance still attracted the attention of passersby.
Qin Yuanging’s height of 182cm meant that he wouldn’t be thin. Logically, the word “beautiful” wouldn’t be associated with him, but his eyes were long and narrow, adding a touch of femininity to his face.
Jiang Muyuan raised the partition in the back row, looked Qin Yuanging up and down, and smiled, “Even better looking.”
Qin Yuanging wearily twitched the corner of his mouth.
“You should say I’m getting more handsome.”
Jiang Muyuan looked at him, hesitated, and finally apologized softly, “I’m sorry… I didn’t know then.”
Watching Jiang Muyuan’s face gradually fill with apology, Qin Yuanging found it amusing, “What’s there to be sorry about? Even if you knew, you shouldn’t apologize to me.”
“Okay, I finally came back, don’t wear such a sad face. The food in Canada really doesn’t agree with my Jing City stomach. I’ve lost four kilograms in the past two years. Have mercy on me and take me to eat something good first?”
Jiang Muyuan looked at his protruding collarbone and nodded in agreement, “You have lost a lot of weight.”
Jiang Muyuan’s Bentley Continental drove smoothly into the city. Just as it entered Jiangtan, it was rudely cut off by a Cullinan that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. The driver swerved hard to the right, causing the two people in the back row to jump in shock.
Jiang Muyuan’s face was not good. She rolled down the window and wanted to write down the license plate number. The circles of young masters and young ladies in Jing City were so big, and there should be some courtesy when they meet. She wanted to see which unreasonable person was being so overbearing.
“Did you see it clearly?”
Qin Yuanging knew that Miss Jiang Yuan’s temper was rising. If it had been him in the past, he would definitely have been even angrier than Jiang Muyuan, but now, perhaps because he had been away alone for a long time, he didn’t get angry easily.
“No, it was too fast, I only caught a glimpse.”
The two got out of the car outside a private kitchen restaurant and went into a private room.
“This private kitchen only serves three tables a day, and you have to book half a month in advance. You came back suddenly, but fortunately Qiao Gongyu had booked a table earlier and gave it to me. Try it, it will definitely suit your taste.”
Jiang Muyuan, Qiao Gongyu, and these people have money, but they also have rules. They won’t make things difficult for these small business owners. People are honestly doing business, and there’s no need to pay for their young master and young lady tempers.
“Does Qiao Gongyu know I’m back?”
If he knew, then Li Chongge also knew…
“What? Are you still planning to hide and not see anyone? Not only does he know, but everyone in our circle knows. I’m throwing a welcome banquet for you tomorrow night. A lot of people are coming, so don’t refuse to give me face.”
Qin Yuanging: “…”
Jiang Muyuan has a big temper, but her heart is good. This is her intention. Even if Qin Yuanging didn’t want to socialize everywhere as soon as he came back, he still didn’t say the words of refusal.
The two finished eating and sat and chatted for a while. It was already four o’clock in the afternoon, which was a perfect time to go home.
Qin Yuanging’s decision to come back was very sudden. He only called Yu Keci when he got off the plane, scaring her into asking if something had happened to Qin Yuanging.
What could happen? It was just that he missed Li Chongge, missed him so much that even if he couldn’t see him, he wanted to be on the same land as him, in the same city.
By the time he arrived at the Qin family’s villa, it was exactly six o’clock in the evening, the time for dinner.
Qin Haoting had an important engagement and didn’t have time to come home for dinner. Only Yu Keci was at home, but she still instructed the nanny to make a large table of dishes.
“Xiaoyuan, you’ve lost weight.”
Yu Keci didn’t know why her precious son suddenly made up his mind to go to Canada to take over the Qin family’s overseas business, but Qin Yuanging was brought up by the couple, and as long as he wanted something, he would definitely get it.
“Mom, don’t worry, Aunt Huang’s cooking is good. I guarantee I’ll gain it all back in a month!”
Qin Yuanging pulled out a chair at the dining table for Yu Keci and sat down opposite her, staring at the lily black chicken soup on the table with shining eyes, his appetite aroused.
Seeing her son looking radiant, Yu Keci finally breathed a sigh of relief. The mother and son chatted as they ate, and the dinner lasted for an hour and a half.
At half past eight, Qin Yuanging took a bath and changed into his pajamas. His soft hair was still damp. He leaned against the balcony of his room, lit a cigarette, and took a deep breath into his lungs. His handsome face was lowered, hidden in the swirling smoke.
Two years ago, on the eve of his birthday, Qin Yuanging personally saw Jiang Muyuan boldly confess her love to Li Chongge in public. As a friend, he should have faced it with a blessing or a sense of excitement, but he inexplicably felt afraid, even a little angry.
At that moment, he felt that Li Chongge should belong only to him, and Jiang Muyuan’s confession made him alert and nervous.
This surging emotion made Qin Yuanging’s face pale.
That’s not right, friends shouldn’t be like this!
His possessiveness towards Li Chongge told him that his feelings for Li Chongge seemed to be more than just friendship, there was something else.
This realization scared Qin Yuanging out of his wits and plunged him into deep fear and despair.
How could this be!
Li Chongge was his best friend, their friendship of more than ten years couldn’t be destroyed by his own hands.
So Qin Yuanging fled in panic, hiding far away.
He thought that leaving would be a relief, that he would let go.
But the facts proved that he was wrong.
When he was close, wild thoughts arose.
When he was far away, his guts were twisting.
Come back and see, if he doesn’t see Li Chongge get married and have children with his own eyes, he will always… harbor a faint hope.
