A Journey Intertwined with Love and Memories

One day, when the sun was just right, Jiang Wan’yuan had a sudden idea and invited Jichuan, Zhang Yao, and Yi Shang to her home as guests. “Although my house doesn’t have as many high-tech gadgets as the school, I have a lot of treasures from my childhood that you must see!” Jiang Wan’yuan said excitedly, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. Yi Shang looked at Jiang Wan’yuan’s eager appearance, the corners of her mouth slightly upturned, and she softly responded, “Okay.” Jichuan and Zhang Yao also happily agreed, and the four of them set off together on the road to Jiang Wan’s house.

Along the way, Jiang Wan’yuan was like a cheerful little bird, chirping and introducing all kinds of interesting things about her home, trying to ease the slight sense of oppression that Yi Shang’s inherent aloofness brought to everyone. “When I was little, I was especially mischievous and often jumped up and down at home, which made my mom so angry.” At this point, a trace of imperceptible loneliness flashed in Jiang Wan’yuan’s eyes, but she quickly recovered her smile and continued, “But she never could bear to scold me for too long.”

Yi Shang noticed the subtle change in Jiang Wan’yuan’s emotions and quietly took her hand, saying in a voice that only the two of them could hear, “Don’t be sad, I’m here.” Jiang Wan’yuan looked at Yi Shang gratefully and tightly squeezed her hand back.

When they arrived at Jiang Wan’s house, a house full of retro atmosphere appeared before their eyes. The house was surrounded by all kinds of flowers and plants, gently swaying in the breeze, as if welcoming their arrival. Jiang Wan’yuan took the lead in entering the house, opening the door, and a warm yet slightly old-fashioned atmosphere came to her face. “Welcome to my little nest!” Jiang Wan’yuan said, opening her arms.

The interior of the house was simple and cozy, with photos hanging on the walls, recording the bits and pieces of Jiang Wan’yuan’s growth. Yi Shang’s gaze was attracted by one of the photos. In the photo was a young Jiang Wan’yuan and a kind-faced lady. Jiang Wan’yuan was hugging the lady’s neck tightly, her face filled with a happy smile. Yi Shang knew that was Jiang Wan’yuan’s deceased mother.

Jiang Wan’yuan walked to Yi Shang’s side, looked at the photo, and said softly, “This is me and my mom. I was very young then, and she always took me everywhere to play.” Yi Shang gently put her arm around Jiang Wan’yuan’s shoulders, giving her silent comfort.

Jichuan and Zhang Yao also came over. Zhang Yao looked at the photo and sighed, “Wan’yuan, your mom looks so gentle.” Jichuan nodded in agreement, “Yeah, she feels like a very warm person.”

Jiang Wan’yuan said with a smile, “She was the gentlest and warmest person in the world. Although she’s gone, I always feel like she’s still by my side, watching me.”

Afterward, Jiang Wan’yuan took everyone to visit the various rooms. In her bedroom, there were many childhood toys and treasured books. Jiang Wan’yuan picked up an old rag doll, her eyes full of memories: “This doll was given to me by my mom on my fifth birthday, and I’ve kept it all these years.” She gently stroked the doll’s face, as if she could feel her mother’s warmth from back then.

Yi Shang looked at Jiang Wan’yuan, her heart filled with heartache. She stepped forward, took the doll from Jiang Wan’yuan’s hand, looked at it carefully, and then said softly, “It must carry a lot of good memories.” Jiang Wan’yuan nodded, her eyes slightly red: “Yeah, every time I see it, I think of my mom telling me stories and coaxing me to sleep.”

Jichuan found a photo album on the side and curiously opened it. In addition to photos of Jiang Wan’yuan and her mother, there were also some family gathering photos. “Wow, Wan’yuan, you were so cute when you were little!” Jichuan said with a smile, pointing to a photo of Jiang Wan’yuan wearing a princess dress. Jiang Wan’yuan leaned over to take a look and couldn’t help but laugh, “Haha, this was the first time I attended a family gathering, and I had to wear this dress, thinking I was a little princess.”

Zhang Yao was also amused: “That’s true, you were so vain back then!” Everyone chimed in with a word or two, and the atmosphere became relaxed and happy.

However, when visiting the study, Jiang Wan’yuan suddenly stopped. In the corner of the study, there was a dusty box. Jiang Wan’yuan slowly walked over, squatted down, and gently opened the box. The box was filled with her mother’s letters, diaries, and some scientific research materials from her lifetime. Jiang Wan’yuan picked up a diary, opened the first page, and it read: “Today, little Wan was born. Looking at her pink and chubby little face, I feel like the happiest person in the world…” Jiang Wan’yuan read softly, and tears flowed down uncontrollably.

Yi Shang quickly squatted down, hugged Jiang Wan’yuan in her arms, and softly comforted her, “Don’t be too sad, your mom must want you to live happily.” Jichuan and Zhang Yao also came over, comforting Jiang Wan’yuan one after another.

Jiang Wan’yuan wiped her tears, took a deep breath, and said, “I’m fine, it’s just that seeing these things makes me think of a lot of things from the past. Actually, my mom was also a very powerful scientific researcher, and she always hoped that I could achieve something in the field of scientific research.” As she spoke, she picked up a research material and handed it to Yi Shang: “Look, this is my mom’s research on the genetic modification of interstellar plants, maybe it will be helpful for our future research projects.”

Yi Shang took the data and carefully read it. She found that Jiang Wan’yuan’s mother’s research ideas were unique, and many of her views were very forward-looking. “This information is very valuable, Wan’yuan, your mom was really amazing,” Yi Shang said.

Jiang Wan’yuan looked at Yi Shang, her eyes shining with determination: “I must complete my mom’s unfinished research and make her proud of me.” Yi Shang nodded and encouraged her, “I will be with you, we can definitely do it.”

Jichuan and Zhang Yao also expressed their support: “Yes, let’s all work together!”

Through this visit, Yi Shang gained a deeper understanding of Jiang Wan’yuan’s past, and also understood the persistence and dreams deep in her heart. And Jiang Wan’yuan also felt the warmth and strength given by Yi Shang and her friends.

After returning to school, Yi Shang and Jiang Wan’yuan devoted themselves to the research of Jiang Wan’yuan’s mother’s scientific research materials. They formed a new research team with Jichuan and Zhang Yao to discuss how to combine the theories in these materials with current research projects.

In the research process, they encountered many difficulties. Although Jiang Wan’yuan’s mother’s research was innovative, many experiments could not be verified due to the limitations of the technology at the time. Yi Shang, relying on her deep scientific research skills, proposed some new experimental ideas and methods, trying to break through these difficulties.

Once, when conducting an experiment on the gene fusion of interstellar plants, it failed several times in a row. Jiang Wan’yuan was a little discouraged, feeling that she might not be able to complete her mother’s research. Yi Shang looked at Jiang Wan’yuan’s lost appearance, took her hand and said, “Wan’yuan, scientific research is not always smooth sailing, every failure is a step closer to success. Let’s analyze the experimental data carefully again, we will definitely find the problem.”

With Yi Shang’s encouragement, Jiang Wan’yuan cheered up again. She and Yi Shang stayed up late analyzing data and constantly adjusting experimental parameters. Jichuan and Zhang Yao also helped out, consulting various materials and providing different ideas.

Finally, in a key experiment, they successfully achieved the stable fusion of the genes of two interstellar plants, resulting in a new plant variety with super adaptability. This achievement made the entire research team very excited.

Jiang Wan’yuan excitedly hugged Yi Shang: “Yi Shang, we succeeded! My mom’s research has made new progress, she will definitely be proud of us!” Yi Shang also showed a rare brilliant smile: “Yeah, this is the result of our joint efforts.”

With the deepening of the research, they achieved a series of remarkable scientific research results on the basis of Jiang Wan’yuan’s mother. These achievements not only caused a sensation on campus, but also attracted the attention of the interstellar scientific research community.

At an interstellar scientific research exchange meeting, Yi Shang, Jiang Wan’yuan, Jichuan, and Zhang Yao represented the school to showcase their research results, which were highly praised and recognized by researchers from various galaxies.

Jiang Wan’yuan stood in front of the display platform, looking at the many scientific research elites under the stage, her heart was filled with emotion. She thought of her mother, the home that was once full of laughter and warmth, and also the bits and pieces she spent with Yi Shang, Jichuan, and Zhang Yao.

“Yi Shang, if it weren’t for you, I might not have been able to persevere until now.” After the exchange meeting, Jiang Wan’yuan looked at the stars twinkling in the night sky and said to Yi Shang. Yi Shang gently put her arm around Jiang Wan’yuan’s shoulders: “We are each other’s support, no matter what difficulties we encounter in the future, we will face them together.”
