JFWCM Chapter 50
by VolareMilitary Training Nocturne
The joyful laughter in the dormitory hadn’t completely dissipated when suddenly, a series of steady and forceful footsteps approached from afar. Jiang Wan’yuan, with her sharp ears, was the first to hear it. Her eyes widened, and in a panic, she lowered her voice to warn, “Oh no, it sounds like the drill instructor is doing a room check!”
The others, who were still immersed in the joy of gaming, instantly tensed up. Zhang Yao frantically gathered the scattered game cards on the table, muttering, “We’re done for, we’ll get scolded if the instructor finds us playing games, won’t we?”
Yi Shang, on the other hand, seemed relatively calm. While helping to tidy the table, she gently reassured Jiang Wan’yuan, “Wan’yuan, don’t panic, let’s just tidy up first.” As she spoke, she quickly stuffed the cards into a box and put it back in the cabinet.
Jiang Wan’yuan took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, and joined everyone in quickly making the beds and tidying the dormitory. However, her heart was still pounding like a little rabbit.
Just as they finished tidying up, there was a light knock on the dormitory door. Yi Shang walked over, opened the door, and saw the drill instructor standing at the entrance with a stern face, his sharp eyes scanning every corner of the dormitory.
“What are you doing so late?” the drill instructor’s voice was deep and powerful.
Jiang Wan’yuan’s palms were sweating with nervousness, and she subconsciously hid behind Yi Shang. Yi Shang sensed Jiang Wan’yuan’s anxiety and subtly shielded her, calmly replying, “Reporting, Instructor, we just finished a day of military training and were a little tired, so we relaxed a bit. We’re ready to rest now.”
The instructor walked into the dormitory and carefully inspected the interior. Seeing that the dormitory was clean and tidy, he nodded, but his gaze fell on Jiang Wan’yuan. Jiang Wan’yuan’s heart tightened, and her head almost touched her chest.
“This student, you seem very nervous. Is there something you’re hiding from me?” the instructor’s voice became serious.
Jiang Wan’yuan trembled slightly with fear and stammered, “In… Instructor, we… we were just playing games for a while, but we’ve already cleaned up. We know we were wrong.”
The instructor frowned, his expression becoming even more stern. “During military training, the primary task is to strictly abide by discipline, don’t you know that? Playing games will distract you and affect the effectiveness of the training.”
Seeing this, Yi Shang stepped forward and said earnestly, “Instructor, it’s my responsibility. The training intensity was high today, and everyone was very tired. I thought playing games appropriately could relieve fatigue and allow us to better engage in subsequent training. We promise not to do it again and will strictly abide by military training discipline.” As she spoke, she gently took Jiang Wan’yuan’s hand, conveying strength to her.
The instructor looked at Yi Shang, then at the other students, and was silent for a moment. Just when everyone thought the instructor would severely punish them, his expression softened slightly. “I understand that you are tired from military training, but discipline cannot be ignored. I won’t pursue this matter this time, but don’t let it happen again. Military training is not only a physical exercise but also a cultivation of discipline and teamwork. Do you all understand?”
“Understood, Instructor!” the students replied in unison, their voices loud and firm.
The instructor nodded and turned to leave. He stopped at the door, turned back, and said, “Get some rest, there are training tasks tomorrow.”
“Yes, Instructor!” As the dormitory door slowly closed, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Jiang Wan’yuan collapsed onto the bed, patting her chest and saying, “Oh my, that scared me to death. Luckily, the instructor wasn’t too harsh on us this time. Yi Shang, thanks for speaking up for me.”
Yi Shang walked over and sat down beside Jiang Wan’yuan, gently stroking her head. “Don’t be afraid, Wan’yuan. We all share the responsibility, and the instructor understands our hard work. We’ll just be careful in the future.”
Zhang Yao also came over, smiling and saying, “Yeah, that was a close call. But we really can’t break the rules again.”
At this moment, Jiang Wan’yuan’s communicator lit up. It was a message from Lin Jichuan, asking about the instructor’s room check in the girls’ dormitory. Jiang Wan’yuan replied with an account of what happened. Soon after, Lin Jichuan replied that the boys’ dormitory had also been caught playing games by the instructor, but they were also let off with a lecture.
Jiang Wan’yuan showed Lin Jichuan’s message to everyone and couldn’t help but laugh. “It seems like the boys’ dormitory is the same.”
Yi Shang smiled and said, “This can also be considered a special experience. After this, everyone will definitely remember the lesson.”
Everyone sat together and chatted for a while. Jiang Wan’yuan said with emotion, “Although this military training is very hard, and these little episodes happened, I feel especially happy being with everyone, and I’ve learned a lot.”
Zhang Yao nodded in agreement, “That’s right, things like teamwork and discipline are very important in future studies and life. And through this game-playing and room-check incident, I feel like our relationship has become closer.”
Yi Shang looked at Jiang Wan’yuan, her eyes full of tenderness. “Yes, Wan’yuan, experiencing these things with you makes me feel very precious. No matter what we encounter in the future, we’ll face it together.”
Jiang Wan’yuan hugged Yi Shang with emotion. “Yi Shang, it’s so good to have you. And Zhang Yao, we all have to stay this close forever.”
The night grew deeper, and the atmosphere in the dormitory became particularly warm. Everyone began to prepare for rest, to recharge for tomorrow’s military training. Yi Shang tucked Jiang Wan’yuan’s quilt in and said softly, “Wan’yuan, good night, sweet dreams.”
Jiang Wan’yuan smiled sweetly. “Good night, Yi Shang.”
In this quiet night, after the room-check incident, they gradually drifted off to sleep, carrying their insights about military training and their deepening friendship. The moonlight shone through the window onto their faces, as if guarding this beautiful time of youth. And tomorrow will be another day full of challenges and growth, waiting for them to face it bravely. In the future days of military training, they will continue to write their own wonderful chapters with this warmth and solidarity.
The next morning, sunlight gently poured through the window onto the floor of the dormitory, awakening the sleeping occupants. Jiang Wan’yuan groggily opened her eyes, stretched lazily, and turned to see Yi Shang already tidying up her bed, her movements neat and efficient.
“Morning, Yi Shang,” Jiang Wan’yuan yawned.
Yi Shang turned to look at Jiang Wan’yuan and smiled gently. “Morning, Wan’yuan. Did you sleep well last night?”
“Yeah, I slept like a log. I guess I was exhausted from playing games and the room check yesterday,” Jiang Wan’yuan said, reluctantly getting out of bed.
Zhang Yao also woke up, sat up, rubbed her eyes, and said with a smile, “Haha, yesterday was really exciting and fun. I hope today’s military training isn’t too tiring.”
The three of them quickly washed up, changed into their military training uniforms, and walked out of the dormitory full of energy. When they arrived at the training ground, they saw Jing Xiao and Sun Yu were already there. Sun Yu saw them, ran over, and said with a smile, “Hey, the room check yesterday really scared me. Is everything okay in your girls’ dormitory?”
Jiang Wan’yuan replied with a smile, “It’s okay, it’s okay. The instructor just gave us a lecture. What about you guys?”
Jing Xiao shrugged helplessly. “Same as you, the instructor said not to do it again. Looks like we have to be more careful when playing games in the future.”
As everyone was talking, the instructor walked over and shouted sternly, “Attention!” The students immediately put away their smiles and quickly stood in formation.
“Today’s training task is an interstellar tactical simulation confrontation. This not only tests your individual abilities but also tests the collaboration between teams. Does everyone have the confidence to complete it?” the instructor asked loudly.
“Yes!” the students answered in unison, their voices resounding through the training ground.
The training began, and the students were divided into red and blue teams. Yi Shang, Jiang Wan’yuan, Jing Xiao, Zhang Yao, and Sun Yu were all on the red team. With her calm mind and excellent analytical skills, Yi Shang quickly formulated a tactical plan.
“Jing Xiao, you are responsible for using communication equipment to interfere with the blue team’s command system; Zhang Yao, you lead a group of students to outflank from the side and attract their attention; Sun Yu, you and I will make a feigned frontal attack to disrupt their defense; Jiang Wan’yuan, you find the right opportunity to lead a commando team to directly attack their command center,” Yi Shang arranged the tasks in an orderly manner.
“Yes!” everyone took their orders and left.
On the battlefield, simulated laser fire flashed, and smoke filled the air. Jing Xiao skillfully operated the communication equipment, successfully interfering with the blue team’s command, causing confusion in their actions. Zhang Yao’s flanking team also successfully attracted some of the blue team’s forces.
Yi Shang and Sun Yu led the feigned frontal assault team, bravely charging towards the blue team’s defense line and engaging in fierce confrontation. Jiang Wan’yuan seized the opportunity to lead the commando team like a fierce tiger towards the blue team’s command center.
During the advance, Jiang Wan’yuan encountered the blue team’s stubborn resistance. Several simulated shells exploded around her, and the powerful impact made her unsteady. Seeing this, Yi Shang immediately shouted through the communicator, “Wan’yuan, be careful! I’ll support you right away.”
Yi Shang quickly eliminated the enemies in front of her and charged towards Jiang Wan’yuan’s direction. With Yi Shang’s help, Jiang Wan’yuan and the commando team broke through the blue team’s defense line and successfully destroyed their command center.
“Red team wins!” As the referee announced, the students of the red team cheered.
“Well done, everyone! Especially Yi Shang’s tactical arrangements and Jiang Wan’yuan’s assault, the coordination was too perfect,” Jing Xiao said excitedly.
Jiang Wan’yuan said with a smile, “This is all thanks to everyone’s joint efforts, everyone is important.”
Yi Shang looked at Jiang Wan’yuan, her eyes full of praise and tenderness. “Wan’yuan, you were very brave on the battlefield today and performed very well.”
Jiang Wan’yuan was a little embarrassed by the praise, scratching her head and saying, “It’s just because you’re here, I feel especially at ease.”
In the following days of military training, there were more and more similar teamwork training sessions, and everyone’s cooperation became more and more tacit.
