    Vicious Cannon Fodder

Faced with the inspector’s questions, Yu Yi froze for a moment, nearly handing over all six cards to the man at once.

Just as he was about to hand them over, a flash of inspiration struck. He pulled his small hand back and took the opportunity to hurl the cards at the five Long Aotians, leaving them with the mess as he bolted away.

He perfectly implemented the policy of pushing problems onto others when he couldn’t solve them himself, determined never to let himself suffer a loss.

Letting out a long sigh of relief, Yu Yi stepped onto the soft sand with his bare, tender white feet. The friction of the sand against his pink soles left faint red marks.

Walking slowly toward the hotel, Yu Yi recalled the various expressions on the Long Aotians’ faces when he abandoned the cards and threw them their way.

He couldn’t imagine what kind of spectacular expressions they would have after he left.

Anyway, I’m a vicious cannon fodder to begin with; giving them the cards is doing them a favor, he thought to himself.

With that thought, Yu Yi hooked the sneakers he had taken off for the sake of running in one hand, while using the other to mimic the Statue of Victory, flashing a big peace sign toward the gentle moonlight.

A brilliant smile hung on his beautiful face. He was simply too clever for his own good, truly peerless!

    …………

The person who had proposed this little game was a minor supervisor from the human resources department of Jin Minglang’s company.

After learning that Jin Minglang had drawn the Witch Card, the supervisor immediately changed the rules of the game and let Jin Minglang go back.

Pinching the edge of the card that Yu Yi’s small hand had once brushed against, Jin Minglang took a side path toward the hotel.

A trail of small footprints, like a kitten’s paws leaving marks in the snow, appeared before Jin Minglang’s eyes.

The footprints were a mess, circling around several reefs and a lighthouse. Jin Minglang looked ahead and saw a petite figure shrouded in the hazy moonlight.

Yu Yi never expected that while he had escaped the punishment, he would end up getting lost, turning a forced night on the beach into a voluntary one.

Listening to System 987 continue to describe the hotel’s specific location—telling him to pass one reef and then another—Yu Yi wavered for a long time.

He had managed to confuse himself so much that he simply stopped moving.

System 987: The reefs look different, and so do the lighthouses. The system has made no errors.

Also, Xiao Yi, you were clearly going the right way just now, but then you circled back to the previous reef.

Yu Yi pouted in protest: Didn’t you say to go ten meters to the right around the reef in front, and then thirty meters forward after that lighthouse before turning left to go back?

And 987, there are so many mosquitoes here. I’m going to turn into a mobile blood bank.

His fair calves, visible beneath his knee-length athletic shorts, were almost entirely covered in red marks from where Yu Yi had scratched his bites.

There was a particularly large patch of red bites right at the junction of his ankles.

Squatting down, Yu Yi swatted at the mosquitoes while saying petulantly: No… I’m going to turn into dried Yu jerky.

Seeing Yu Yi looking so aggrieved by the mosquito bites, his snowy palms pressed tightly over the reddened areas to prevent further bites, 987 felt helpless. The system prepared to take physical form to apply medicine and repel the insects.

At that moment, a large black coat was draped over Yu Yi’s thin, squatting frame.

987’s transformation paused, and the condensing electronic data turned into virtual spots of light that fell one by one onto Yu Yi.

Realizing there was a coat on his shoulders, Yu Yi turned his head and saw Jin Minglang.

The other man smiled gently at him and said: Yiyi, are you lost? Do you want me to carry you back?

    …………

After pulling out a medical kit and successfully opening it, Jin Minglang found a tube of anti-swelling ointment among the pile of bandages and medical supplies.

He carefully read the instructions on the ointment to confirm its use, then took the tube and walked toward Yu Yi, who was leaning against the headboard.

With his upper body resting against the headboard, Yu Yi pulled his soft thighs together. Watching Jin Minglang approach, his white, straight calves rested uneasily on the bed. His delicate heels shifted awkwardly upward, and his rounded toes curled and twitched.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Jin Minglang’s large palm captured Yu Yi’s trembling ankle and said to him: Yiyi, don’t move. Let me apply some medicine for you.

Rough fingers were stained with the white ointment. His calloused fingertips spread the cream over the sensitive red areas.

The application process was both cool and rough. Staring at Jin Minglang’s patient and meticulous application, Yu Yi couldn’t help but want to pull his small foot back. His sensitive toes kicked at the air several times, and he couldn’t stop them from tensing up.

A small whimper of grievance involuntarily escaped his throat.

Even though he was being as gentle as possible, whenever Jin Minglang looked up, he saw Yu Yi’s dark eyelashes trembling incessantly, looking as pitiful as grass battered by wind and rain.

Jin Minglang: Yiyi, bear with it a little longer. It will be over soon.

Hearing Jin Minglang’s voice, Yu Yi moved his leg again and said in a small voice: Can you be a bit faster? It’s so itchy and cold.

Without looking up again, Jin Minglang focused on applying the medicine. He used nearly half the tube before he finally finished.

It’s all applied. the redness from the bites is slowly fading. It will be completely gone by tomorrow. Jin Minglang said, looking at his palm which was covered in ointment.

Jin Minglang’s hands were covered in the ointment and the faint body fragrance it had picked up. The scent of herbs mixed with Yu Yi’s own fragrance poured directly into his nose. He had to force down the urge to sniff his fingers right then and there.

Yu Yi was about to nod, carefully shifting his weak body.

Suddenly, Yu Yi reached out a slender white hand to scratch his soft belly. He said to Jin Minglang with a bit of embarrassment: But… it seems I was bitten here by a mosquito too. It’s a bit itchy.

His gaze fixed on the small section of the back of Yu Yi’s hand that was visible, while the rest of his fingers were hidden inside his T-shirt. Jin Minglang automatically imagined Yu Yi touching his stomach to find the bitten area, his healthy pink fingertips moving and searching helplessly.

Clearing his throat, Jin Minglang looked at Yu Yi and said: Do you need me to apply some medicine there?

    Yu Yi nodded vigorously.

Fearing it would be inconvenient for Jin Minglang to apply the medicine, Yu Yi simply lifted his T-shirt and held the hem in his mouth. His red lips pressed tightly against the fabric, leaving a small, damp circle.

Once Yu Yi bit down on the shirt, his slightly rounded, soft white belly was fully presented before Jin Minglang, looking like a snow skin mooncake filled with cream—soft and delicious.

The air grew quiet and became somewhat heated.

Jin Minglang stiffly squeezed out a large amount of ointment until the white cream nearly filled his entire palm. With his ears turning red, he placed his ointment-covered palm over Yu Yi’s abdomen, rubbing it over the bitten area.

Feeling Yu Yi’s small, fluttering pulse, Jin Minglang’s breathing became rapid and heavy. His rough palm even began to sweat with heat, and his fingertips brushed against a small indentation.

There was a bit of redness next to the navel. The fine, tender fuzz acted like a small brush against his fingers, but Jin Minglang didn’t dare to stroke further. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he said: Yiyi, is this okay?

Subconsciously shrinking back, Yu Yi squeezed his armpits tight. He bit down harder on his T-shirt, his face turning pale and tense, wearing an expression that looked as if he were being bullied.

After trembling like a frightened small animal for a moment, a faint blush of embarrassment colored his cheeks. Wanting to finish the application quickly, Yu Yi let out an “un,” which sounded like he was consenting to Jin Minglang doing anything bad to him.

Jin Minglang hesitated for a moment as a restless urge stirred in his heart, giving rise to an incredibly despicable thought.

He didn’t want to apply medicine anymore, nor did he want to act like a gentleman. He wanted to reach up, lean over Yu Yi, and seize him.

The ointment was all used up. Jin Minglang went to the adjacent bathroom to wash the remaining medicine from his hands. Yu Yi, with the corners of his eyes flushed red, spat out the T-shirt which was now stained with a large circle of moisture.

Accompanied by the pitter-patter of water, Yu Yi lay on the bed. Seeing that the swelling on his legs was slowly subsiding, he began to scan Jin Minglang’s hotel room.

It wasn’t much different from the suite he shared with Li Yinting. The curtains were tightly drawn, and while the interior decor was low-key and luxurious, there was no particularly strange furniture.

The only unique point was that Jin Minglang had moved a single-seater sofa from the living room into the bedroom, and there seemed to be something shiny sitting on it.

Driven by curiosity, Yu Yi got off the bed barefoot and walked over. He saw a laptop that was still powered on.

The screen hadn’t gone to sleep yet. The screensaver was a basic blue, looking clean and bright at a glance.

His sharp eyes spotted a file. Yu Yi instinctively moved the laptop’s mouse and clicked into the folder. He skimmed the contents and locked onto the keywords.

He discovered that the file contained important details regarding the collaboration between Xu Jiangyue and Jin Minglang.

Without further hesitation, Yu Yi used the USB drive provided by System 987 to immediately copy the file.

Once the copying was complete, seeing that Jin Minglang still hadn’t come out of the bathroom, Yu Yi didn’t want to cause any complications. He hurriedly shouted toward the bathroom door: I’m going back now!

Without waiting for a response from Jin Minglang, Yu Yi left the suite.

Entirely immersed in the fact that he had successfully stolen a Trade Secret, Yu Yi ran hurriedly down the hotel corridor, thinking of finding a place to send Shen Changqing a WeChat message.

Once the two of them had a brief hand-off and he gave the USB drive to Shen Changqing, their deal would be over.

As long as the transaction was finished, Shen Changqing could no longer threaten him.

The more Yu Yi thought about it, the happier he became. Holding the USB drive, he kept his head down as he rounded the final corner, intending to head to the hotel rooftop.

Just as he turned the corner, a hard object with the density of a wall blocked his path.

The sudden impact caused Yu Yi’s delicate nose to be struck. It turned red instantly, as if he were about to cry.

Covering his aching nose, Yu Yi looked up at the culprit who had hit him.

    …………

Xu Jiangyue had been pacing the floor where Yu Yi’s room was located. He wanted to find Yu Yi but didn’t want to lose face. Just as he had finally decided to leave, someone crashed into his back.

He was about to lose his temper and find a scapegoat to vent his frustration on, but when Xu Jiangyue turned around, he saw Yu Yi with red eyes, rubbing his sore nose.

The two of them locked eyes. Yu Yi was stunned for a moment, completely unexpected to see Xu Jiangyue here.

Seeing Yu Yi, Xu Jiangyue was also stunned.

He hadn’t expected to collide with Yu Yi, even if it was Yu Yi who had run into him.

Thinking about how he had confessed to Yu Yi and hadn’t received an answer yet, and now having hurt his beloved, Xu Jiangyue became flustered. He wanted to comfort Yu Yi, but he had no experience in coaxing people, let alone offering comfort.

He tentatively reached out his large hand, wanting to help Yu Yi rub his sore nose, but his movements were too rough and heavy.

The moment Xu Jiangyue’s fingers touched the tip of his nose, Yu Yi dodged away.

Having just stolen the Trade Secret regarding the collaboration between Shen Changqing and Xu Jiangyue, Yu Yi felt a bit guilty seeing Xu Jiangyue, but also a bit angry.

In addition to dodging, he instinctively gave Xu Jiangyue a defensive kick to put some distance between them.

With one dodging and the other being kicked, the air between them began to freeze.

Being cruelly rejected by Yu Yi, Xu Jiangyue felt like he had lost face once again.

Recalling the changes he had undergone because of Yu Yi, Xu Jiangyue couldn’t be bothered to pretend anymore. He immediately exposed his true nature as a privileged elite.

Xu Jiangyue wanted to grab Yu Yi and ask him straight out whether he would agree or not!

If Yu Yi didn’t agree, he would make him agree anyway.

Sensing Xu Jiangyue’s intention to grab him, Yu Yi acted like a nimble rabbit and immediately ran forward.

However, after running only a few steps, a room door ahead suddenly swung open. As he happened to pass by, a powerful and forceful hand reached out from inside and pulled him in.

    …His vision went completely dark.
