Chapter 121: Extra – If Timeline

The next day, Jiang Yifeng didn’t come to school all day. Xie Jingshen asked the teacher, who said he was sick and had taken leave.

Even though it was just the absence of a chattering person beside him, Xie Jingshen felt uncomfortable.

His gaze remained fixed on the seat beside him, his expression listless.

Xie Jingshen carefully considered his relationship with Jiang Yifeng.

He didn’t think it was liking.

But when he thought about how Jiang Yifeng poured his heart out to each of his deskmates, he realized Jiang Yifeng’s feelings towards him weren’t romantic either.

    Xie Jingshen’s mood immediately plummeted.

Jiang Yifeng didn’t return to school until two days later, and Xie Jingshen felt that Jiang Yifeng was acting strangely.

Sometimes he would rest his chin on Xie Jingshen’s elbow and act cute, as usual, but sometimes he would refuse to let Xie Jingshen lean on his shoulder to explain problems, covering his ears and saying it was too itchy.

“Why are you blushing?” Xie Jingshen glanced at the redness on Jiang Yifeng’s cheeks and asked calmly.

Jiang Yifeng rubbed his face hard with the back of his hand, shaking his head with wide eyes, “I’m not.”

    Xie Jingshen pouted.

But in his heart, he inexplicably felt a sense of joy, a happy emotion that filled him and made Xie Jingshen a lot gentler.

–It seems Jiang Yifeng feels more than just friendship for him.

–The little rascal, I saw right through him.

    Xie Jingshen thought smugly.

After seeing through everything, his attitude towards Jiang Yifeng became increasingly ambiguous.

Sometimes he would deliberately lift Jiang Yifeng’s chin, pretending to lean in, but only blowing on Jiang Yifeng’s eyelashes.

Sometimes he would grab his fingers and play with them while Jiang Yifeng was answering questions, pushing the answer in front of his eyes when he stammered and couldn’t speak.

Jiang Yifeng initially avoided it, but later simply gave up, letting Xie Jingshen do whatever he wanted.

Although Xie Jingshen didn’t show it, he really liked Jiang Yifeng’s appearance of dodging and then leaning towards him again.

    So cute.

    Xie Jingshen thought.

And it was a cuteness only he could see.

His behavior of not interacting with any other classmates had been criticized by teachers several times, but his grades remained top-notch, and the school gave Xie Jingshen a lot of privileges. No one could influence his thoughts, and in the end, they could only let him do as he pleased.

The classmates in the class, however, thought Xie Jingshen was very cunning.

Jiang Yifeng had a good temper and was well-liked, but Xie Jingshen next to him always looked at people coldly.

Someone privately talked to Jiang Yifeng about Xie Jingshen.

“Stay away from him, I think he’s weird.”

Jiang Yifeng hesitated and replied, “He’s very good, he’s just too shy to talk to others.”

Just like when he first got along with Xie Jingshen, after spending a little more time together, Xie Jingshen was willing to open his heart to him.

And every time Jiang Yifeng dragged Xie Jingshen to play with others, Xie Jingshen got along well with others too.

Jiang Yifeng wasn’t a petty person.

Jiang Yifeng thought of everything he had overheard that night when he followed Xie Jingshen to the grove – it turned out that not only girls liked Xie Jingshen, but even boys did.

That day, Jiang Yifeng thought about many things.

The way they used to get along.

Or his diligent attitude towards Xie Jingshen.

“Could it be that I, like Xie Jingshen?”

Teenagers’ minds always have many strange fantasies, and once they care, they can’t get rid of them at all.

He thought about staying away from Xie Jingshen, but he couldn’t say it.

As time passed, it was even more impossible to bring up.

Xie Jingshen didn’t allow Jiang Yifeng to show any intention of leaving.

The two sat at the same desk, always sticking together. High school class time was long, and they were practically the people who spent the most time together.

Jiang Yifeng even felt that if they had to separate after graduation, he didn’t know if he could get used to it.

However, what came before graduation was an accident.

“Teacher, why didn’t Jiang Yifeng come to class today?” Xie Jingshen stood in front of the podium again, asking the homeroom teacher with his head lowered.

The homeroom teacher’s face was gloomy, and it took a long time before she said, “It’s nothing, he needs to rest for a while.”

Jiang Yifeng didn’t come back for a long time.

The emotions in Xie Jingshen’s heart became more and more depressed.

After school on Friday afternoon, Xie Jingshen sat in the classroom thinking about whether to go to Jiang Yifeng’s house to check on the situation.

The clouds outside were dense, and it soon began to rain heavily.

Xie Jingshen listened to the sound of raindrops hitting the window edges, his mind gradually emptying.

Before the driver called, Xie Jingshen planned to go to the office to ask for Jiang Yifeng’s home address.

But before he could pull out his schoolbag, Xie Jingshen saw Jiang Yifeng appear at the door.

His hair was badly wet from the rain, and his whole body was damp. Moist raindrops slid across his cheeks, and his flushed face made his eyes even more beautiful.

    “What’s wrong?”

Xie Jingshen sat in the classroom looking at him. The unlit classroom was dimly lit, and Xie Jingshen stared straight in the direction of Jiang Yifeng, his eyes reflecting his embarrassed figure.

Jiang Yifeng took a few steps forward, his eyelashes trembling, and suddenly tears fell.

Xie Jingshen’s heart skipped a beat, and he subconsciously opened his arms, and Jiang Yifeng crashed directly into them.

He wrapped his arms around Xie Jingshen’s neck and cried in Xie Jingshen’s arms, his face wrinkled, his eyes red.

Tears stuck together, and tears and breaths were mixed together. Jiang Yifeng fell into great grief, unable to recover at all, crying with sobs.

Xie Jingshen hugged Jiang Yifeng helplessly.

His rain-soaked body was very cold, and Xie Jingshen warmed Jiang Yifeng with his body temperature. His palms gently stroked Jiang Yifeng’s lower back, pressing him closer into his arms.

Xie Jingshen once again felt at a loss.

He rested his chin on the top of Jiang Yifeng’s head, coaxing him in a hoarse voice.

    He knew what happened.

But he found that his heart ached very much, even if he didn’t say anything, just crying like that, Xie Jingshen was very sad.

He coaxed Jiang Yifeng in a low voice, and somehow, carefully cupped his face and kissed his eyes and lips.

    “What’s wrong?”

Xie Jingshen didn’t try to stop Jiang Yifeng from crying, just kept telling him “I’m here,” and hugged and kissed him.

The warm heat finally warmed Jiang Yifeng up, and he lay in Xie Jingshen’s arms, whispering about his family affairs.

His only father was seriously ill and hospitalized, and at the worst time, he was in the ICU, which cost more than two thousand yuan a day.

“I don’t want to go to school anymore.” Jiang Yifeng wiped his eyes hard, “I want to go out to work… if this continues, the family’s money won’t last long.”

Ordinary Jiang Yifeng felt the feeling of lacking money for the first time.

Uncertain surgical effects, unpredictable postoperative reactions, painful wails during chemotherapy, and the terrifying visual effects of liquid sliding into the throat when he couldn’t eat normally.

Besides the lack of money, everything was extremely terrifying.

    “No.”

    Xie Jingshen tightened his arms.

He looked at Jiang Yifeng, slowly saying when his emotions were on the verge of collapse: “I can help you.”

Jiang Yifeng looked at Xie Jingshen’s eyes.

He almost forgot Xie Jingshen’s “specially recruited student” status, subconsciously trusting the person in front of him.

Xie Jingshen gently kissed his forehead.

Then he pulled the drowned puppy ashore from the water.

He went to the hospital with Jiang Yifeng, helping to pay off the previous debts at the front desk.

Through the ward, Xie Jingshen saw the rain-soaked puppy standing in front of the hospital bed, crying to the middle-aged man with tubes inserted in him that everything was okay.

He just stood outside waiting, listening to the conversation inside.

“Dad, I just paid off all the arrears!”

“Where did the money come from?”

    “Classmate…”

“How can you take money from classmates?”

Jiang Yifeng seemed to be frightened.

Xie Jingshen tilted his head and thought, it’s definitely not an ordinary classmate.

Jiang Yifeng stood in the ward twisting and turning, and was asked again before changing his words and saying it was a social donation.

“We can’t take other people’s money for nothing, we have to remember their names, and when we make money in the future, the donated money has to be paid back to them. We’re not beggars…”

The middle-aged man had very little energy, and fell asleep groggily after speaking for a while.

Jiang Yifeng ran out and said thank you to Xie Jingshen, then tugged at his clothes and said he would pay him back later.

“Aren’t you coming to school tomorrow?” Xie Jingshen stared at Jiang Yifeng.

    Jiang Yifeng shook his head.

“The money has already been paid.” Xie Jingshen was dissatisfied.

“But only the arrears have been paid, he can’t be alone, I have to be with him.” Jiang Yifeng explained in a low voice, but Xie Jingshen was sulky.

He looked at Jiang Yifeng, who was really embarrassed, and could only ask him where he could hire a caregiver.

Jiang Yifeng kept his mouth shut and refused to say, so Xie Jingshen wanted to pull him away directly.

    “No.”

    Jiang Yifeng refused again.

Xie Jingshen angrily left Jiang Yifeng alone in the hospital. When he walked to the door, it started raining again.

Xie Jingshen suddenly thought that Jiang Yifeng was soaked in the rain so badly, even his hair and eyelashes were wet.

    –Wouldn’t it be very cold?

Xie Jingshen didn’t take an umbrella and rushed directly into the rain.

Jiang Yifeng and Xie Jingshen collectively took leave, causing quite a discussion at school.

However, Xie Jingshen fell ill and slept in bed for three full days, and only on the fourth day did he find several missed calls from Jiang Yifeng on his phone.

He didn’t call back directly, but instructed the housekeeper to find two caregivers to take care of Jiang’s father. After the housekeeper finished, he weakly called Jiang Yifeng to come and take care of him.

    Jiang Yifeng looked so soft.

Usually, Xie Jingshen was afraid of scaring Jiang Yifeng into tears if he said something harsh, but this time he was fierce, asking Jiang Yifeng to take responsibility for his illness.

Jiang Yifeng pitifully hurried to the agreed place and was taken to a villa area in the city in a car.

Jiang Yifeng walked into the door in shock, and was led upstairs by the housekeeper, finding Xie Jingshen lying on the bed, looking weak and sick.

“I have a cold.” Xie Jingshen revealed a pair of eyes: “You have to be responsible.”

Jiang Yifeng was at a loss.

Xie Jingshen looked at the clean Jiang Yifeng, and couldn’t help but half-support himself and move closer to Jiang Yifeng.

    Jiang Yifeng leaned over inexplicably.

Xie Jingshen pinched Jiang Yifeng’s cheek, but before the kiss could land, Jiang Yifeng pushed him away in horror.

    Xie Jingshen was unhappy.

A few days ago, Jiang Yifeng was muddled, crying so much that he couldn’t support himself, so he kissed and hugged him, and he didn’t have the strength to resist.

But now he was not willing to let him hug and kiss him.

    Xie Jingshen was upset.

Xie Jingshen was in bed, his lips pale, but his face was very red, looking like he was about to pass out, which made Jiang Yifeng afraid and worried.

    He whispered “I’m sorry.”

“I will lend you money, so you can spend money to hire a caregiver.”

    Xie Jingshen said slowly.

Jiang Yifeng shook his head, but Xie Jingshen didn’t say he would give it for free as usual.

The sound of the TV downstairs was very loud, and the sound came into the room from the open door. His cousin was watching an idol drama downstairs.

Xie Jingshen’s voice overlapped with the sound of the idol drama downstairs: “I’ll pay you one million to take care of you, and you take the money to see a doctor for your father.”

    Jiang Yifeng’s eyelashes trembled wildly.

Xie Jingshen beckoned to Jiang Yifeng: “Come over now, let me kiss you.”
