    Chapter 29: I Am a Billionaire, I… (Third Update)

Lu Shangyan initially thought the woman was speaking to someone else, so he deliberately stepped aside. But the woman’s gaze continued to follow him. Realizing something was wrong, he turned and looked around, confirming that he was the only person waiting for the elevator.

He then lowered his voice and said, “Did you mistake me for someone else?”

He barely had any friends, and those he did have were people he’d only recently become acquainted with. How could he possibly be the “mistress” she was referring to?

But the woman stated confidently, “I didn’t mistake you. The person I’m looking for is you, Lu Shangyan.”

A strange feeling rose in Lu Shangyan’s heart. “I don’t know you.”

The woman took a step closer to him, exuding intense pressure. “Then do you know Dong Shufan? I am his wife, An Yun. Now you know me, so can we find a quiet place to have a proper talk?”

Lu Shangyan opened his mouth, then said unhappily, “My relationship with him is strictly professional. Please don’t view our connection through a biased lens.”

An Yun smiled again, finding his innocence amusing. She then scanned the area, ignoring Lu Shangyan’s annoyance, and spoke to herself, “Do you want me to show you the evidence of his infidelity in public? Or would you like those people with their ears perked, ready to listen to a scandal, to hear it too? I’m not afraid of my dirty laundry being aired, but I wonder if you are.”

After speaking, she turned and re-entered the elevator, standing there and narrowing her eyes at Lu Shangyan.

Lu Shangyan gritted his teeth, struggling internally for a moment, but ultimately followed her.

The two went to the garden rest area behind the hospital. Perhaps it was psychosomatic, but ever since Lu Shangyan learned he was pregnant, he always felt easily tired. He simply sat down on a long bench, looking straight ahead, refusing to look at An Yun again.

An Yun didn’t seem angry at all. She went straight to the point: “I looked for you once before, outside your school gate. But you had other people with you then, so I didn’t have a chance to talk to you.”

Lu Shangyan remembered her, but didn’t respond.

An Yun continued, “I know you are very short on money. I came here to make a deal with you. As long as you can help me prove Dong Shufan’s recent infidelity, I can give you 300,000 yuan once the matter is settled.”

Lu Shangyan’s displeasure intensified. For a moment, he didn’t feel like giving her any extra courtesy just because she was a woman. His tone was sharp. “I told you, I am just his employee. Our relationship is strictly professional. Aside from work-related matters, I know nothing about anything else, and I don’t want to be involved in any of your affairs.”

He forced himself to breathe steadily, his gaze returning to An Yun. “If you are trying to achieve some goal by slandering him, I think you have come to the wrong person.”

An Yun coming to him now meant the situation was definitely complicated. He had finally enjoyed a few days of peace and didn’t want to get dragged into this mess.

But An Yun still looked completely at ease. She took out her phone, found a video clip, and placed it in front of him.

The video was edited from security footage. Dong Shufan was sitting on a sofa, still wearing his suit. Only two dim wall lamps were on, casting an orange-yellow glow. Lu Shangyan watched him take out his phone, find an encrypted hidden album, and start playing video after video.

After watching for a while, he got up to fetch wine from the cabinet, added ice cubes to the glass, and treated the videos like appetizers, drinking four glasses straight. He then leaned back on the sofa, completely relaxed, and with one hand pulled out his belt, unzipped his pants, and reached inside…

He was always facing away from the camera while sitting on the sofa, but Lu Shangyan knew exactly what he was doing and immediately turned his head away.

An Yun achieved her goal and put her phone away. “The person in the video, that’s you, isn’t it?”

Lu Shangyan’s stomach churned. He leaned half-over the armrest of the chair, struggling to keep himself from vomiting on the spot.

He felt disgusted. He had trusted Dong Shufan before and hadn’t forced him to delete the video. Dong Shufan had claimed he deleted it, and Lu Shangyan had even thanked him for it. He never expected that Dong Shufan would secretly use his photos and videos to do something so disgusting and filthy!

An Yun said, “I know he cheats often. He has always preferred men. I have plenty of evidence of his previous affairs, but those are old. If I want to divorce him, finding his recent affair partner is the most suitable and beneficial for me.”

“Besides, aren’t you sick? The expenses for you staying here shouldn’t be cheap. With your means, you probably can’t afford the treatment costs, so you must have taken money from others.”

“Since it’s all about money, why not cooperate with me this once? You don’t even need to show your face. All you need to do is admit that Dong Shufan harassed you and that you had a one-night stand with him.”

Lu Shangyan’s eyes were red with anger. He stood up, ready to leave. He hated this kind of malicious speculation!

An Yun seemed puzzled by his reaction, frowning slightly, and raising her voice. “500,000 yuan.”

Lu Shangyan’s chest heaved violently. Only by inhaling enough oxygen could he avoid fainting. “I didn’t know he did these things. I’m going to find him right now and make him delete all the videos.”

An Yun narrowed her eyes again, scrutinizing him, clearly not believing a word he said.

“If you don’t agree, I might not use this gentle approach of trying to cooperate for mutual benefit anymore. If I just release the video, I might still get the result I want. You work for him; even if you say there’s nothing between you, few people will believe it. Your relationship with him will definitely be misinterpreted.”

“I don’t want to make things difficult for you, which is why I came to negotiate. If negotiations fail, it can only end in mutual destruction—but it will be you and Dong Shufan who are mutually destroyed, and I will be the sole victim, getting everything I want.”

Lu Shangyan’s face was extremely pale. “If you dare to do that, I will call the police immediately.”

An Yun’s threat had no effect. The two were locked in a stalemate for a few seconds before An Yun spoke again. “Or are you looking for more money?” She scoffed. “You are more greedy than I imagined. But it is precisely this point that finally makes me feel you have something in common with a mistress.”

When Pei Yumin returned with the fruit salad, he didn’t see Lu Shangyan. He worried that Lu Shangyan, having rested and fully sobered up, couldn’t accept the fact of his pregnancy and had gone out to harm himself or commit suicide.

He frantically ran around looking for him, finally finding him in the garden after speaking to a nurse.

He ran up to Lu Shangyan, panting, grabbed his shoulders, and checked him over thoroughly, sighing in relief only after confirming he was safe and sound.

Then he noticed Lu Shangyan was shaking with anger, his breathing even heavier than his own. He immediately grew alert. “Who made you angry?”

Lu Shangyan didn’t speak, but An Yun next to them smiled and greeted Pei Yumin. Pei Yumin didn’t need to think twice to guess, and instantly gave her a cold look. “Did you provoke him?”

An Yun had seen Pei Yumin outside the school gate last time, but back then, Pei Yumin had been speaking to Lu Shangyan with his face turned away. Furthermore, she wasn’t someone who often interacted with people of the Pei family’s social standing, so she knew very little about Pei Yumin. At the time, she wasn’t sure if someone like Lu Shangyan could truly be connected to Pei Yumin. Now, seeing Pei Yumin’s face and his look of deep concern for Lu Shangyan, she finally confirmed that their relationship was indeed unusual.

And her decision not to immediately release the video, as she had threatened moments ago, was absolutely correct.

Now, whether Lu Shangyan agreed to her proposal or not was irrelevant, because Pei Yumin already knew of her existence. Her path forward would be much smoother.

Thinking this, An Yun felt much more relaxed. She deliberately tried to provoke Pei Yumin, but spoke to Lu Shangyan. “Now I know why you weren’t willing to make a deal with me for 500,000 yuan. Turns out you genuinely look down on that amount.”

Lu Shangyan was even more confused. He only snapped out of it after she walked away. Pei Yumin had no goodwill toward An Yun, glaring at her back as if he wanted to burn two holes through it!

He was afraid Lu Shangyan would get tired from standing too long, so he quickly withdrew his gaze. “I brought you a lot of fresh fruit. Do you want to go back and eat now? Or sit outside for a bit longer?”

Lu Shangyan’s nausea hadn’t subsided yet. He wanted something cold to suppress it. “Can you bring it down for me? I want to eat outside.”

Pei Yumin didn’t say another word, nodded, and ran off, only telling him to sit here obediently and wait, and not to wander off so he wouldn’t lose him again.

Lu Shangyan scratched the back of his hand. He belatedly realized that he was becoming a little too comfortable giving Pei Yumin orders. He began to suspect he was benefiting from his child’s status.

Pei Yumin came down carrying the box, then used a toothpick to feed him the fruit. Lu Shangyan didn’t want to, but he couldn’t argue with Pei Yumin, so he just bit down obediently.

While feeding him, Pei Yumin asked, “What did that woman want with you just now?”

Lu Shangyan instinctively shook his head. Pei Yumin didn’t want to bother him while he was eating, so he didn’t press the issue. If Lu Shangyan wouldn’t talk, he would just find a way to investigate later.

Lu Shangyan quietly ate a few more pieces, then noticed that every type of fruit was cut into different shapes—stars, hearts, moons, bunnies. It clearly wasn’t store-bought; Pei Yumin had cut them himself.

Seeing that he was willing to eat, Pei Yumin said, “I’ll prepare more for you tomorrow.”

Lu Shangyan pointed to a star-shaped piece of pineapple. After eating it, he slowly said, “Ask your question again?”

Pei Yumin was stunned. Though confused, he asked, “Eat fruit?”

Lu Shangyan smiled and shook his head. Pei Yumin thought again. “What did that woman want with you?”

Lu Shangyan was willing to answer this time. “As a reward for letting me eat the star-shaped pineapple, I’m willing to tell you my secret from earlier.”

“Her name is An Yun, and she is Dong Shufan’s wife.”

He recounted everything that had just happened in detail. Pei Yumin was immersed in shock for a moment, then angrily gritted his teeth. “Dong Shufan is a bastard! And An Yun, that woman is not simple either!”

“Don’t worry, I will definitely find a way to resolve this for you. You must stay far away from those two people in the future. An Yun’s methods are even more formidable than Dong Shufan’s. The next time she comes looking for you, you must tell me immediately!”

Seeing how worried he was, the gloom surrounding Lu Shangyan vanished. He countered, “An Yun has money and power. You can’t use the same methods you used against Chen Shuo to deal with her. If that’s the case, what can you do?”

Pei Yumin instantly straightened his chest. “Too much has happened these past few days, and you’ve been handling it well, so I think it’s okay for you to know one more truth.”

“I’m coming clean. I have more money and power than all of them. I am actually a billionaire. In fact, my entire family are billionaires!”
