Chapter 62 Willing to fight or suffer

As Xu Wen ran home, he tapped his fingers quickly on the screen and sent several messages in succession.

However, the chat interface was quiet, and Lu Qingrang never responded.

Panting, he rushed upstairs, stopped suddenly at the door of his house, and moved very lightly for a moment.

    It’s over.

Brother Lu shouldn’t be crying alone at home, right?

He simply didn’t dare think about it.

No one knows better than Xu Wen how insecure Lu Qingrang is when he is not feeling well, and how difficult it is to comfort him.

He took a deep breath, repeated the comforting words in his mind several times, and was about to raise his hand to knock on the door.

    “Click.”

The door was gently pushed open from inside.

Lu Qingrang leaned against the door frame weakly, the collar of his pajamas was a little messy, his lips were dry and white, but his cheeks were abnormally flushed due to high fever.

He raised his eyes and looked at Xu Wen, his voice hoarse:

    “Back.”

Xu Wen’s heart tightened, and he quickly squeezed in sideways, holding Lu Qingrang’s heated arm, and carefully helped him back to the bed.

“Why are you up? Lie down quickly.” He said while observing Lu Qingrang’s expression calmly.

Putting the back of your hand against the other person’s forehead, the temperature has indeed dropped a bit compared to before going out, and it’s not so hot anymore.

Seeing Lu Qingrang’s expression calm and even taking the initiative to open the door for him… Xu Wen’s heart dropped a little.

    He didn’t seem angry.

He secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

“I’ll feel better after taking the medicine.” Lu Qingrang followed his strength and leaned back on the pillow, and suddenly asked softly, “Farewell…did it go well?”

Seeing that he took the initiative to bring it up and his tone was calm, Xu Wen’s remaining nervousness completely dissipated.

He sat on the edge of the bed and started chatting immediately: “It went quite smoothly. That girl Xiaoyue was really attentive and prepared a gift specially. I just didn’t expect…”

When he said this, he scratched his head in embarrassment: “I didn’t expect this little girl to have that kind of interest in me. It surprised me…”

Xu Wenwu said to himself, with a bit of relaxation in his tone.

Until he accidentally caught a glimpse of Lu Qingrang’s face.

At some point, Lu Qingrang had turned his head, leaving only a tight profile.

He lowered his eyelashes and pursed his lips into a pale straight line. The gentle calm before was gone, replaced by silent silence.

    Xu Wen’s voice stopped suddenly.

He realized belatedly that the air in the room had become colder at some point.

After a while, it was Lu Qingrang who broke the suffocating silence first.

He didn’t look at Xu Wen, his eyes fell on a certain point in the void, and his voice was as soft as a murmur:

    “She…is pretty.”

This is less of a question and more like a statement immersed in its own world.

Xu Wen was stunned by his meaningless question and subconsciously replied: “Huh? She’s just… a pretty good little girl.”

Lu Qingrang slowly turned his head, and his eyes, wet with high fever, finally focused on Xu Wen’s face, filled with pain and desperate fear.

“Then you…” He swallowed hard, his chapped lips trembling slightly, “Did you promise her?”

This question was asked softer than the previous one, but with a clearer tremor, as if he had used up all his remaining strength.

The eyes that stared at Xu Wen were intertwined with the fear of hearing the answer and the need for confirmation.

Xu Wen looked at Lu Qingrang’s face of holding on but full of loopholes, her eyes that didn’t want to look at him but locked him tightly in the end, and the trembling and grievance in her voice that couldn’t be suppressed.

    He’s really lost his mind!

It was clear that this talent had not been emotionally stable for a long time, and his mental state could not withstand any storm at all.

How could he have that kind of luck mentality and think that it would be fine if he left quickly and came back quickly?

How could he forget that Lu Qing made all his calmness and self-control when it came to him, as thin as a layer of window paper, which could be broken with a poke.

Xu Wen cursed himself in his heart, and all the luck and ease turned into overwhelming regret.

“No! Really not!” He spoke hurriedly, leaning forward unconsciously, his hands subconsciously trying to grab Lu Qingrang’s arm, and then stopped in mid-air, speaking quickly and urgently, “How could I agree to her? Am I crazy? I rejected her clearly and explicitly on the spot! I told her that I had a reason to leave, and there were more important people to… take care of.”

He deliberately slowed down the tone of the last few words and locked his eyes tightly with Lu Qingrang’s, trying to convey his sincerity and apology.

“I promise that everything I said to her is true, without any ambiguity.” He took a deep breath, lowered his voice, and said sincerely, “It was my fault. I shouldn’t have run out when you were sick and left you alone at home with your thoughts. I was wrong, Brother Lu, please stop thinking, okay?”

Lu Qingrang did not relax because of Xu Wen’s explanation. He lowered his eyes, and his thick eyelashes cast fragile shadows on his pale face.

“Without her… there would be someone else.” His voice was low, with despair, “Xu Wen, you are so good… sunny, cheerful, and so gentle to everyone. You stand there, and you are as attractive as light.”

He raised his eyes, and his moist eyes were filled with uneasiness and fear that almost overflowed: “I’m so scared… one day, you will meet a better person, and you will think that I… am a trouble.”

Seeing his self-denial look, Xu Wen’s heart tightened with pain.

He almost blurted out, with a decisive tone:

“Brother Lu, listen carefully!” He reached out and gently held Lu Qingrang’s hot cheek, forcing him to look at him, “There is no one else here with me. There was no one before, and there will be no one in the future.”

His eyes were firm, and he declared clearly word for word: “Until these troublesome things are completely resolved, and before I see you standing firm and living a safe and smooth life with my own eyes, I will never, and have no intention of thinking about anything else.”

He leaned forward slightly, his forehead almost touching Lu Qingrang’s. His voice slowed down, but carried more weight:

“Your affairs will always come first. I promise.” Xu Wen’s eyes were firm, but looking at Lu Qingrang’s still pale face, Xu Wen pulled out his usual ruffian smile and added decisively:

“You are the best brother I, Xu Wen, have recognized. If I don’t protect you, who will?”

This sentence came out of his mouth very naturally.

Lu Qingrang listened quietly to Xu Wen’s categorical declaration of brotherhood, his eyelashes trembling slightly.

    best brother

    This title is very good.

It means a strong relationship recognized by Xu Wen.

Love is too nihilistic. What he wants is something more solid than that, a promise that will never be separated, a position that no one can replace.

He didn’t dare to ask for more, and he never thought about declaring his love that had never been seen before. It was too greedy and dangerous, and he couldn’t afford to lose it.

What he wanted was always very simple. The most special and closest position beside Xu Wen was his.

In Xu Wen’s attention, commitment and future plans, he is the only one and irreplaceable.

He can do everything he can to maintain this position and give everything, as long as Xu Wen doesn’t push him away, doesn’t get tired of him, and allows him to stay with him like this forever.

Warm water will always overflow, maybe one day it will not, even if that day does not happen, this will be enough.

“Hmm…” A muffled response escaped from his throat, with a slight nasal sound.

Lu Qingrang could no longer restrain himself, stretched out his arms and tightly wrapped his arms around Xu Wen’s waist, pressed his hot forehead deeply against the other person’s waist, and rubbed him dependently like a cub seeking shelter.

This hug was so tight that it was trembling.
