    Chapter 43 Jealousy

In the blink of an eye, the two of them had settled in this small northern city for more than a month.

Perhaps it was because he had really escaped far enough, or perhaps because Nangong Chen’s sphere of influence could not extend to such a corner for the time being, the expected storm of pursuit did not come, and the days passed unusually calmly.

Xu Wen had already thrived in that market research company.

He has a lively personality, works hard, and is generous. In addition, he has been carefully taken care of by Lu Qingrang in the past month. His figure, which was originally thin due to his wanderings, has gradually become more symmetrical, his cheeks are plump, his complexion is rosy, and his whole person has a refreshing energy that has been carefully cared for.

When he stood among the young colleagues in the office, he looked like a handsome male college student.Naturally, I got along with everyone very quickly.

As he was getting off work, Xu Wen was immersed in checking the last few pieces of data, when a figure came to his desk.

It’s the girl at the front desk, Li Yue.

“Brother Wen, are you busy?” Xiaoyue leaned on the partition board and asked casually.

Xu Wen raised his head from the screen and rubbed the sore back of his neck: “It’s almost over. It’s over now. What’s up? Is something wrong?”

Xiaoyue smiled, as if she suddenly remembered something: “Oh, it’s not a big deal. I just have a cousin who wants to rent a house near our company. I feel that you are quite familiar with this area. I would like to ask if you know where there is a suitable house? If we are on the way, we can chat while walking?”

She paused and then added naturally: “I happen to be taking the No. 3 bus too, so we can walk to the station together?”

Naturally, Xu Wen didn’t think much about it. His men kept saving the files and responded casually: “Okay, I’m almost done with it.”

He picked up the gray scarf hanging on the back of his office chair. Lu Qingrang insisted on buying it for him two days ago. He said it looked thick and was too cold on the way back from get off work late.

He turned off the computer neatly and said to Li Yue: “Let’s go, Xiaoyue.”

At this moment, the screen of his mobile phone on the table lit up, and a new message popped up.

L: [I’ll wait for you at the station.】

Xu Wen picked up the phone and when he saw this brief message, the corners of his mouth unconsciously raised a little.

He quickly clicked on the screen a few times with his fingers, and an emoticon of a chubby rabbit holding a carrot and giggling was sent, followed closely by:

    【Arrived soon!】

    【(Rabbit Running.gif)】

After sending it, he put his phone in his pocket, casually put the scarf around his neck, and showed a hearty smile to Li Yue: “It’s done, let’s go!”

Xu Wen accompanied Li Yue as he walked all the way to the station. The autumn evening was freezing and windy. The two of them went from discussing renting a house to complaining about the company. Occasionally they were aroused by the cold wind, and they both shrank their necks and laughed. They seemed to be having a great time talking.

At the entrance of the station, Lu Qingrang stood quietly at the edge of the light and shadow cast by the lamppost. A neatly tailored black coat made his figure become more slender and tall, but he seemed to be blending into the dark night.

The bone-chilling chill seemed to have little effect on him, and all his attention fell on the two figures approaching in the distance.

He looked at the familiar smile on Xu Wen’s face and the natural and intimate interaction between him and the young girl, and the fingers on his arms curled up slightly.

Just when Xu Wen raised his hand to compare something with a smile and looked away, Lu Qingrang looked past him and accurately captured Li Yue’s gaze.

He clearly saw that when the young girl looked at Xu Wen, her eyes were bright, following Xu Wen’s every move, and the corners of her mouth were unconsciously curved, showing her uncontrollable love.

At that moment, there was no intense emotion on his face, but his originally calm eyes narrowed slightly. Instead of the gentleness he usually had when facing Xu Wen, there was a hint of cold scrutiny.

It was at this moment that Xu Wen caught the familiar figure standing quietly under the station lights out of the corner of his eye.

The smile on his face instantly became more real and brighter. With an undisguised joy, he immediately raised his arms high and waved vigorously:

    “Brother Lu!”

Almost subconsciously, he quickened his pace and trotted a little, quickly and naturally broke away from walking side by side with Li Yue, and ran in the direction of Lu Qingrang without hesitation.

After rushing to Lu Qingrang in a few steps, Xu Wen remembered his colleagues behind him.

He turned sideways, with the slight breath of running over his face, and introduced both parties naturally: “Brother Lu, this is the front desk of our company, Li Yue, a very nice girl!”

Then he turned to Li Yue, who was a little embarrassed, and said in a cheerful tone, “Xiao Yue, this is my brother, Lu Qingrang, who lives with me.”

When Lu Qingrang heard this, he turned his eyes to Li Yue, pulled up a very faint but decent smile on his lips, nodded gently to her, and said in a gentle voice, “Hello.”

But the greeting didn’t stop there.

His eyes quickly fell back to Xu Wen, looking at the tip of his nose that was blown red by the cold wind, and frowned.

He reached out and gently untied the crooked scarf around Xu Wen’s neck, and then carefully rewrapped it in circles to ensure that every part was tightly sealed and could resist the cold wind.

“I didn’t tie it up when I came out. What should I do if I catch a cold?” He whispered.

During the whole process, he never looked at Li Yue for a second time. All his attention was focused on Xu Wen, as if everything around him had become a blurred background.

Li Yue looked at the hard-to-interpret relationship between them, and the reluctance emerged in his heart.

She rubbed her hands that were slightly red from the cold, and said to Xu Wen with an embarrassed smile: “Brother Wen, um… the bus I’m waiting for may take a while. It’s very cold standing alone. Can you wait with me for a while? Just for a while!”

Xu Wen has always been a warm-hearted person. After hearing what she said, he readily agreed without thinking: “Okay, what’s the point! Brother Lu, can we wait with Xiaoyue for a while?”

He turned to look at Lu Qingrang with a natural tone.

Lu Qingrang didn’t speak, but took half a step closer to Xu Wen. He gently raised his hand that was hanging by his side, and put it on Xu Wen’s waist with a clear sense of possessiveness.

He still maintained basic politeness on his face, but the gentle aura around him subsided almost instantly, and an invisible low pressure quietly spread around him.

He didn’t look at Li Yue, his eyes fell on the traffic in the distance, but his jawline was slightly tense.

The atmosphere was slightly stagnant for a while.

Only Xu Wen was unaware of this and was still looking for topics to chat with the two of them.

Fortunately, the bus she was waiting for soon entered the platform with its lights on.

“Ah, the car is here! I’ll leave first! Brother Wen, see you tomorrow! Lu…Brother Lu, goodbye!” Li Yue said goodbye in a hurry, turned around and walked quickly to the car door.

When she stepped onto the bus steps and subconsciously took one last look back, she saw Xu Wenzheng smiling silly and waving goodbye to her vigorously.

Beside him, the man named Lu Qingrang was gently pulling Xu Wen closer into his arms in an extremely intimate manner.

Xu Wen was as natural and obedient as if he had long been accustomed to this.

What made Li Yue’s heart even more shuddered was that Lu Qingrang’s face had long lost the light gentleness just now.

The pair of eyes looking at her, under the pale light of the platform, were only undisguisedly cold, even with a hint of warning.

The car door slammed shut behind her, cutting off the outside world.

Li Yue got on the bus, and a clear thought flashed through his mind uncontrollably: They…are they really just “brothers”?
