Chapter 71: How to Live Life Afterwards?

Half an hour later, the car slowly pulled up in front of the Ye Corporation building.

The driver neatly opened the car door, but Ye Xingchen wasn’t in a hurry to get out. Instead, he turned sideways, his eyes fixed intently on Lin Yu.

Lin Yu felt uncomfortable under his gaze and urged, “We’re here, aren’t you getting out?”

Ye Xingchen’s lips curled into a mischievous smile. He suddenly reached out and gently pinched Lin Yu’s cheek, saying in an ambiguous tone, “I’ll come find you this afternoon.”

Lin Yu immediately looked impatient, swatting away Ye Xingchen’s hand and saying unhappily, “Don’t come looking for me this afternoon. Go home.”

Ye Xingchen acted as if he hadn’t heard Lin Yu’s refusal, his face still full of smiles as he slowly got out of the car.

Standing outside the car, Ye Xingchen leaned in, sticking his head inside to say to Lin Yu, “Maybe I’ll just show up at your company door this afternoon.”

Without waiting for Lin Yu to respond, he straightened up and closed the car door with a flourish.

Lin Yu watched Ye Xingchen’s departing back, sighing helplessly. He thought to himself that this guy was really difficult to deal with, and then instructed the driver, “Let’s go, to the company.”

The car slowly drove away, leaving behind the still bustling scene in front of the Ye Corporation building, as if the moment just now was just a small interlude.

As soon as Lin Yu arrived at the company, he went straight to his office.

After sitting down, he wanted to devote himself entirely to work, but Ye Xingchen’s figure kept popping up in his mind involuntarily. He was distracted all morning, frequently spacing out.

It wasn’t until the afternoon that he finally snapped out of it, suddenly remembering Ye Xingchen’s suggestion about game segmentation from yesterday.

He realized that this idea might really solve the current game development problems, so he immediately gathered the team members to discuss how to segment the player base and specific plans for designing difficulty levels for different groups.

The meeting went smoothly. Everyone came up with many valuable ideas, and Lin Yu gradually got back into work mode, focused on the task.

He didn’t know how long had passed. Nearing the end of the workday, Lin Yu inadvertently looked at the time and was startled. For some reason, he suddenly felt like he had to leave early.

He hurriedly stood up and said to the employees in the office, “Everyone, thank you for your hard work. I have something to take care of and have to leave early. Please work overtime a little longer.” After saying that, he quickly left.

Leaving the company building, Lin Yu cautiously looked around, making sure Ye Xingchen wasn’t at the company entrance before rushing towards the car.

As soon as he got in the car, he eagerly said to the driver, “Hurry, hurry.”

The driver didn’t dare to delay and quickly started the car, driving straight towards Lingyun Villa.

But as soon as the car reached the entrance of Lingyun Villa, Lin Yu’s heart sank.

Ye Xingchen’s car was parked there steadily. Ye Xingchen was leaning against the car door, a confident smile on his lips, as if he had already expected him to come home early.

Lin Yu had no choice but to bite the bullet and get out of the car.

Seeing this, Ye Xingchen’s smile deepened. He stepped forward, put an arm around Lin Yu’s shoulder, and teased, “Yu, you’re getting off work so early today!”

Lin Yu was full of doubts, feeling a little embarrassed and annoyed. He secretly grumbled in his heart: Is this guy a worm in my stomach? How else would he know what I’m thinking!

He didn’t say a word, his face stern as he led Ye Xingchen into the villa and went straight to the second floor.

As soon as they entered the room, Lin Yu finally couldn’t hold back anymore. He suddenly turned around and questioned Ye Xingchen, “What exactly do you want?”

    Ye Xingchen looked innocent.

But this only made Lin Yu feel even more angry.

“You said that to me on purpose, didn’t you?”

“You guessed that I would get off work early and waited for me specifically at my door?”

“Tell me, why do you know what I’m thinking!”

Lin Yu’s eyes were slightly red with anger, his chest rising and falling rapidly.

Ye Xingchen looked at Lin Yu’s appearance, a hint of heartache flashed in his eyes, but he still forced himself to hold back his laughter, shrugging innocently.

“I just went by feeling. Seeing how you were avoiding me this morning, I guessed you might sneak home early.”

“Besides, I know you so well, it’s not strange that I could guess your thoughts, right?”

As Ye Xingchen spoke, he slowly approached Lin Yu, his eyes full of a complex mixture of affection and teasing.

Lin Yu felt extremely guilty, and an unnatural blush flashed across his face. He quickly reached out and pushed Ye Xingchen a little further away.

“Talk properly, stand further away from me!”

After a pause, he remembered his instructions from the morning and said unhappily, “I told you this morning to go back to your own house.”

Ye Xingchen didn’t care about Lin Yu’s attempt to drive him away, his face still wearing that rogue smile.

“That won’t do. You finally moved out to live alone, I have to catch up with you. Before, when you lived at home, there were elders around, and it was inconvenient. Now that you live alone, I have to stick to you.”

Lin Yu was speechless when he heard this, feeling extremely regretful. If he had known, he wouldn’t have moved out. This guy was simply an unshakeable pest, like he had shot himself in the foot.

If he kept pestering him like this every day, how would he live life in the future?

He couldn’t really fall out with Ye Xingchen, after all, the two of them had grown up together and had a deep friendship.

Lin Yu paced back and forth anxiously in the room, scratching his head from time to time, trying to think of a way to make Ye Xingchen give up, but his mind was a mess, and he couldn’t sort it out for the time being.

Ye Xingchen watched with interest as Lin Yu walked back and forth in the room, his eyes full of indulgence, as if he were enjoying an interesting performance.

He knew that Lin Yu wouldn’t really drive him away, he was just pretending to be tough. And he was happy to play along, enjoying this unique way of interacting with Lin Yu.

After a while, Lin Yu finally stopped pacing. His eyes shifted, a sly look appearing on his face, as if he had thought of a countermeasure.

He raised his head, looked at Ye Xingchen, and said, “Ye Xingchen, do you know why I moved out to live alone? It’s because I want to spend more time alone with my girlfriend.”

As soon as these words came out, Ye Xingchen’s face instantly turned gloomy, his eyes, which were originally full of smiles, now covered in frost.

Almost instinctively, he took a step forward and grabbed Lin Yu’s neck, but he didn’t use too much force. It was just an instinctive reaction under emotional agitation.

He gritted his teeth and asked, “What did you say? Girlfriend? That one from last time, I don’t believe you’re dating.”

Lin Yu’s neck was being squeezed, and his breathing was a little difficult, but he still pretended to be tough and said, “She is my girlfriend.”

    “I don’t believe it.”

    “She is my girlfriend!”

As Lin Yu spoke, he tried to meet Ye Xingchen’s gaze, his eyes revealing a sense of resolution.

Ye Xingchen was trembling slightly with anger, glaring at Lin Yu and saying through gritted teeth, “Break up with her immediately, or you’ll regret it.”

Lin Yu didn’t back down and immediately retorted, “No, there’s no way I’m breaking up.”

The two of them were at a stalemate, the atmosphere in the room tense.
