Chapter Index

An Qiao’s hand trembled as he clicked his Opticomp, choosing without hesitation that his memory was confused rather than that something was wrong with this world.

He had already planned what he would say later. He was probably suffering from mental derangement due to the Tyrant’s pressure and needed half a year of public leave to heal his mind.

A virtual dialogue box popped up. An Qiao started, “I—”

But the next moment, his eyes widened as if he had seen a ghost, staring at a light blue tail that appeared from nowhere and slapped his memo pad with a snap.

Two words, accompanied by flashing silver-white electric sparks, jumped out.

    Hurry up.

An Qiao shuddered, barely able to hold his Opticomp.

In the past hundred years, no one had ever mentioned that their King could invade electronic devices! An Qiao abruptly swallowed the rest of his words and frantically clicked the exit button.

He hadn’t said anything at all.

Thinking of those heavy, oppressive eyes, An Qiao shivered violently and quickly instructed his assistant to urgently order the nearest Pet mini-cake.

Lin Yu meditated on the scene here, planning to come back and look again later. If the flow of time here was the same as in his previous world, then he hadn’t eaten for almost a day.

Even though Lin Yu’s schedule used to be irregular and his diet depended on his appetite—eating one meal a day was common—for some reason, ever since he transmigrated here, his body felt noticeably better than before, and as his Mental Power recovered, his appetite also grew stronger.

He felt like he could devour an entire cow right now.

However, after seeing the appearance of the permanent residents of this world and the food that appeared next to his mattress, Lin Yu seriously doubted that this world had common livestock.

His thoughts drifted off somewhere, and hunger made it difficult for him to concentrate.

Lin Yu shook his head, then forced himself to cheer up and prepare to find some food in the giant society outside.

Because his physical strength was limited, Lin Yu did not plan to use the first door. He intended to return to the main entrance from the back, as that was the path he had taken before and was more familiar. This would save him time and effort.

He wouldn’t need to expend extra brain cells memorizing the route.

Watching the tiny figure disappear into the woods, Yanyan flicked his tongue. His sense of smell allowed him to perceive the little person’s departure more accurately than his sight.

    This was good.

He slithered to the little person’s room and swallowed the Star Beast whole—the one the little person hadn’t touched at all.

Then he coiled up on the floor to digest his meal.

The little person’s scent was still strong here. His crimson tongue flashed in the air. Another sweet scent mixed into the air. Yanyan opened his eyes, his gaze briefly sweeping over the creamy white pastry, then he extended his body and rested his head on the soft mattress.

He lightly sniffed the strong scent of the little person on the mattress and flicked his tail. A hint of pleasure flashed in his vertical pupils.

    He liked it.

Even though he didn’t know why.

But beasts didn’t need to think about those annoying causal relationships anyway.

Lin Yu didn’t know that his food had been urgently delivered. He hid behind a tree trunk and used fallen leaves on the ground to further conceal himself, watching the giants on the road not far ahead.

They were pushing a box containing who knows what. What made Lin Yu most wary wasn’t their arrival, but the fact that he recognized the person leading them.

Although it was only a fleeting glimpse from behind the window sill, Lin Yu still recognized that person as the owner of the white fluff ball.

    Why was he here?

And given the background in the wanted poster, it was hard to deny that this had something to do with the other party. Lin Yu wanted to deceive himself, but it seemed unlikely.

He kept his distance, not wanting to become a bird deprived of freedom.

If he were just someone’s Pet, at least he would be well-fed and well-dressed, occasionally allowed out for fresh air. In the scenes he had witnessed, most of the giants here treated their Pets with doting affection, almost as equals. But if he encountered bad people, was taken away for research, or forced to perform in places like freak shows for others’ amusement, Lin Yu would rather kill himself.

Fortunately, his figure was small, and everything here was oversized. Those people hadn’t noticed another little person hiding behind the tree trunk.

However, Lin Yu didn’t dare to get closer. He could only vaguely hear their conversation, but not clearly.

Only after they had completely left did Lin Yu talk to himself, repeating the words he had just heard.

The owner of the white fluff ball was as agitated as ever, his emotions seeming very intense. The few sounds Lin Yu managed to catch came from his mouth.

    “Ghost?”

    “Calm down?”

Lin Yu muttered, his gaze hesitant and tinged with fear as he looked toward The Palace not far away.

    Was there a ghost inside?

Could that statue be suppressing a ghost?!

Then who gave him the mattress?

The pristine Palace, even in the blue hour, retained a soft color. It wasn’t magnificent, sitting quietly and isolated among the layers of trees. Perhaps it was Lin Yu’s psychological effect, but he felt increasingly uneasy.

It looked white, like a skeleton.

It lacked the warmth of jade and the sharpness of steel, appearing eerie and mysterious.

    Lin Yu shivered.

He quickly left this patch of woods.

By this time, people were starting to appear in twos and threes. To prevent himself from being caught as soon as he stepped out, Lin Yu waited patiently at the edge of the woods until night fully descended before quietly avoiding the crowd and heading to the spot where he had found food last time.

It was the familiar green belt.

It was the familiar Cleaning Robot.

Lin Yu clutched his stomach, continuing to observe the surrounding people through the gaps in the leaves.

However, the spot he chose this time was not as close to the center as last time. There were fewer people, so he couldn’t gather any other information.

Lin Yu actually just wanted to find out what was going on with The Palace from their conversations.

After all, this place wasn’t far from there. If the celestial tides here were similar to his world, then the journey from the woods to here only took him about two hours.

Converted to the pace of these giants, it shouldn’t take more than half an hour.

Waves of fragrance drifted over. Lin Yu blankly emptied his mind. So hungry.

    So hungry!!

    He was starving to death.

Hungry, hungry, hungry, neck curved toward the sky, singing.

    “Gugugu—”

Oh no, Lin Yu desperately pressed down on his stomach, but he couldn’t control it. Under the familiar physiological reaction, his stomach still let out a long and loud growl.

The world seemed to fall silent. For a moment, Lin Yu could only hear his own heartbeat.

Fast, violent, as if it wanted to leap out of his chest.

    Don’t let them hear me.

He huddled in the grass, not daring to make a sound. He heard a giant who had just walked near him say, “Are you hungry?”

Another unfamiliar voice followed, tinged with confusion.

    “No, is your stomach growling?”

In Lin Yu’s mind, based on movie and TV scenes, the next moment they should lift and pull apart the grass, or bend down and squeeze an eye through the gaps in the leaves.

    Then they would grin menacingly.

A loud voice would boom, “Haha, finally caught you!!”

The imagination in his mind made Lin Yu even more terrified. He began to silently pray.

I am truly a good person.

    Good people are rewarded.

The scene he anticipated did not appear.

Because the two people started arguing over the topic.

    Lin Yu: “??”

Gossip is an irresistible human instinct. Even so, Lin Yu cautiously held his breath and started listening in.

He didn’t know what the relationship was between these two ‘giants,’ but since they were acquainted, Lin Yu guessed that it was just a long-accumulated conflict that had erupted. Visibly, both their skins turned a little red, as if the flames of anger had burned onto their appearance.

They started wrestling with each other.

    Lin Yu: “…”

The two figures completely blocked all of Lin Yu’s vision. The impact on him was undoubtedly huge, and the even more terrifying thing was that one giant stumbled after being hit, his tall body tilting toward Lin Yu’s direction.

The large palm brushed past him. Lin Yu didn’t have time to think about being exposed. He quickly scrambled out of the patch of greenery that was about to be crushed.

If he were completely flattened, he definitely wouldn’t survive.

    “What is that?!”

In the sight of many people who were already paying attention to this area, a small, pale, and smooth creature suddenly appeared. Its body was about the size of a typical Pet, yet it looked extremely delicate. It lacked the common body hair but also any other animal features, completely distinguishing it from other creatures.

They had never seen anything like it.

“Oh my god, is that a little person?”

“Is it someone’s small Pet? Why does it look like that?”

“So cute, he looks so cute.”

“Damn it, Beastfolk who can’t control their temper should just stay home and hug their little Pets.”

In Lin Yu’s view, he had already seen some people rushing toward him. The giant closest to him half-propped himself up. An oval white ear, adorned with some circular spots, grew on his head. His vertical pupils looked down at Lin Yu.

Lin Yu took a step back. The two stared at each other, both pairs of eyes—one large, one small—filled with astonishment.

    “You—”

Lin Yu was fully alert, his calves tensed, ready to start a life-or-death escape at any moment.

The strange atmosphere between the two was immediately broken the next second.

Even louder noises invaded his mind.

“Don’t touch him, quickly take him to the Research Institute.”

As soon as these words were spoken, Lin Yu abandoned all other thoughts. He frantically squeezed into a narrow gap, constantly dodging the other pursuers. In this state of concentration, where only the most primitive physical instincts remained, Lin Yu completely ignored the voices of the people behind him.

Otherwise, he would have known that the Research Institute they spoke of was not what he imagined—a place to cut people open for research—but rather a facility closer to treatment.

Following the route in his memory, Lin Yu quickly headed toward the deep forest.

Several times, Lin Yu felt like he was about to be caught, but for some reason, he ultimately relied on the remembered route to reach the outskirts of the deep forest.

Lin Yu plunged into the dense bushes without looking back.

Just like last time, the sounds behind him instantly vanished without a trace. Lin Yu felt no joy, however. He finally understood why the local residents refused to come here.

Thinking of that huge, soft mattress, Lin Yu closed his eyes. His mind began to rapidly analyze the pros and cons.

As someone who had died and come back to life, he believed in the supernatural and ghosts, which he had previously scoffed at. Because of his died-and-revived physique, he was even more worried about what would happen if an evil spirit in The Palace took an interest in his soul.

He had previously thought the other party was a good person, but a good person, good god, or good ghost shouldn’t be feared so much by those people.

    It was simply too dangerous.

Lin Yu gasped for breath, feeling utterly exhausted both physically and mentally. He took one step, preparing to find some branches for warmth at night, when his legs gave out. His vision turned kaleidoscopic black, and the world spun upside down. He had actually fainted from hunger.

A huge cloud of dust flew up! Leaves rustled.

    “Hiss.”

The scarlet tongue, like a blooming Lycoris radiata, flashed past. Yanyan coiled on a large tree branch, looking down at the exceptionally disheveled little person below.

Time seemed to slow down due to the deathly, low atmosphere.

After an unknown amount of time, he gently picked up the completely unconscious little person in his mouth and slithered toward The Palace.
