Chapter 20: Thoughts under the pen and the inheritance of stories

Azhi decided to write a book.

This idea had been brewing in his mind for a long time, until he saw Qi’s picture album being liked by more and more people, and seeing more and more patients with depression regaining hope because of Qi’s story.

He reorganized the study room and placed a photo of Qi in front of the desk. In the photo, Qi smiled with crooked eyebrows, as if to encourage him. After get off work every day, he would sit at his desk, turn on his computer, and start typing on the keyboard.

At first, he wrote very slowly, often crying while writing. Those sweet memories, those regrets of missing out, and those heart-wrenching pains all came flooding in, making him unable to breathe.

He remembered the art exhibition where the two first met, the starry sky puzzle they put together together, the agreement they made at the beach, their determination when they broke up, and the regret and pain they felt after Qi left.Every detail seems like it happened yesterday, clear and profound.

“Qi, I’m writing our story.” He whispered to Qi in the photo, “I want to tell our story to more people, and let them know how gentle and beautiful you are.”

There seemed to be a breeze blowing in the air, as if Qi was responding to his words.A gentle smile appeared on A Zhi’s lips, he wiped away his tears and continued writing.

He wrote about Qi’s talent, Qi’s kindness, Qi’s love for the starry sky, and Qi’s attachment to the sea.He writes about his own indifference and selfishness, his own regret and pain, and his own redemption and growth. He did not avoid any details, whether it was sweet moments or painful memories, he recorded them one by one, because this was the truest look of their love.

The process of writing is long and painful, but also healing.Through words, he recalled everything related to Qi over and over again, examined his own heart over and over again, and reconciled with his past self over and over again.

He often wrote until late at night. When he was tired, he would lie down on his desk and sleep for a while, and then continue writing when he woke up.Qi’s photo was placed next to him, like a beacon, illuminating his path forward.

Once, when he was writing the scene where the two broke up, he broke down and cried bitterly on his desk.He thought of the hurtful words he said at that time and Qi’s desperate eyes at that time, and the regret in his heart surged up again.

At this moment, he felt the pen in his hand shake slightly, as if it had been touched. He raised his head and looked into the void in front of his desk. Although he couldn’t see anything, he felt inexplicably calmer.

He knew that Qi was comforting him and encouraging him to write down the story.

“Qi, I will finish writing.” He whispered into the void, “I will present our story to everyone completely, and I will not let you down.”

A year later, the book was finally completed.Ah Zhi named it “Stars Falling on the Horizon”, which is not only the name of Qi’s favorite painting, but also symbolizes their love – like stars falling into the sea, although it is short-lived, it is extremely bright.

He submitted the manuscript to the publishing house. After reading it, the editor of the publishing house was moved to tears and immediately decided to publish the book.

On the day the book was published, Azhi made a special trip to Qi’s grave. He placed a brand new book in front of the tombstone and said softly: “Qi, our book is published. You see, this is our story, our love.”

In the photo on the tombstone, Qi is still smiling brightly.Azhi sat in front of the tomb, opened the book, and read softly. The sun shone on him, warm and soft, like Qi’s embrace.

“Ah Zhi, look, this book is really published.” He said softly, “I know you must be very happy.”

The wind blew gently, as if Qi was responding to his words.

After the book was published, it quickly caused a sensation. Many readers were moved by the love story between Azhi and Qi, moved by Qi’s kindness and talent, and also gained a deeper understanding of depression.

Many readers left messages online: “After reading this book, I cried for a long time. Qi is so gentle, and Ah Zhi’s regret is so heart-wrenching.”

“I used to think that patients with depression were hypocritical. After reading this book, I realized that they are just sick and need more understanding and companionship.”

“I hope all love can be cherished, and I hope all patients with depression can be treated with tenderness.”

When Ah Zhi saw these messages, he felt warm in his heart. He knew that he did it, he fulfilled his promise to Qi, he let more people know Qi’s story, and let more people know how to cherish and understand.

He would still miss Qi late at night, and he would still talk to Qi’s photo. But his thoughts are no longer desperate, but thoughts with warmth and hope.He knew that Qi’s love was always there, always by his side, accompanying him, and protecting him, forever.
