Chapter 25 The Greedy and Vicious Nanny 3

Xie Rong turned his head, still holding a silk shirt he had just pulled off the hanger.

The soft, slightly cool fabric gliding over his skin wouldn’t chafe him red like the clothes Granny Sun grabbed on discount from street stalls.

He met Lu Chengjin’s gaze through the glass cabinet door and blinked.

[Host, he locked the cabinet door,] the white slime squeezed into his slightly concave collarbone, saying indignantly, [Hurry up and teach him a lesson!]

Xie Rong raised his hand and pressed it against the cabinet door. Sure enough, it wouldn’t open.

Even the mute could get aggressive now.

He couldn’t help but laugh, covering his aching stomach. Under Lu Chengjin’s icy stare, his fingers slowly hooked out a light purple gemstone necklace from behind him and dangled it in front of Lu Chengjin.

    “Look what this is?”

The next second, Lu Chengjin’s expression darkened. He unlocked the latch, only to find the cabinet door wouldn’t open.

Xie Rong had locked it from the inside.

A glass display cabinet that could be locked from the inside—it was the first time he had seen one. How interesting.

Xie Rong parted his pearly teeth and bit down on the gemstone necklace, freeing a hand to pull a lighter from his small shoulder bag.

Then, right in front of Lu Chengjin, he lit the cuff of a pair of high-end tailored suit trousers.

The fire spread little by little.

Since Lu Chengjin treasured these clothes and jewelry so much and refused to give them to him, they might as well all be destroyed.

Xie Rong curved his eyes at Lu Chengjin, watching the young master’s jaw tighten as he fiercely began to smash the cabinet door.

Mindful of the only memento his parents left behind, which was currently in the little nanny’s hand, Lu Chengjin could only smash the door with his bare hands.

He was too useless. In the past, he could only watch his parents die tragically, and now he could only endure the bullying of a mere nanny.

[Protagonist Suffering Value +20! Host is amazing, the System admires you so much!]

Thick smoke gathered inside the wardrobe, unable to escape. Xie Rong couldn’t help but cough. His thin, exposed shoulders trembled uncontrollably, and his eyes were red, making him look utterly pitiful, like a kitten trapped in a cage, waiting for a man to rescue him.

If only he could stop the corners of his mouth from curling up.

The moment Lu Chengjin shattered the glass with a punch, Xie Rong’s laughter, which had been muffled by the cabinet door, finally reached his ears.

How could someone disregard their own safety just for the pleasure of tormenting others?

He maintained a cold expression, ignoring the glass shards embedded in the back of his hand. He picked up Xie Rong, placed him on the bed, and then rushed to the bathroom to use water to extinguish the fire.

Xie Rong sat on the bed. After waiting a few minutes, he couldn’t help but yawn.

[Host, what should we do with this necklace?]

Xie Rong grabbed the white slime on his shoulder, pried open its mouth, and stuffed the necklace inside.

    “Doesn’t that solve it?”

The System struggled to cover its mouth, forcing itself to swallow.

    [It tastes so bad.]

“I’ll buy you oranges tomorrow,” Xie Rong patted its head.

Ten minutes later, the fire was out.

Lu Chengjin treated his wounds and walked out of the bathroom, stopping by the bed.

His usually neat bed had been messed up by the little nanny and was now permeated with a messy mix of scents.

    Lu Chengjin lifted the quilt.

Wrapped inside the quilt was a soft, snow-white body. The upper half was covered in an ill-fitting but expensive silk shirt, while the legs were bare. A pair of brightly colored, vulgar underwear was faintly visible beneath the hem of the shirt.

The little nanny, who frequented the red-light district, hadn’t even been to a proper shopping mall. To save a few pennies, he had casually bought a pair of underwear from a roadside stall that didn’t even have a size, resulting in him confusing women’s and men’s clothing.

To save money, he had secretly worn it, thinking others wouldn’t notice.

Lu Chengjin reached out and lifted the hem of his shirt. His gaze was calm and unruffled as he meticulously scanned the area, but he did not find the light purple gemstone necklace.

    Where exactly was it hidden?

The little nanny, whose hands were already dirty, might hide such a valuable treasure in some unsavory place.

Lu Chengjin frowned tightly, his eyes beneath his fringe dark, as if he were suppressing disgust.

He pursed his lips and remained motionless, squatting by the bed and staring at Xie Rong.

When Xie Rong woke up, he turned his head and saw the person by the bed.

“You want your necklace?” Xie Rong asked, though he already knew the answer.

    Lu Chengjin nodded.

Xie Rong smiled and said, “I’m thirsty. I want orange juice.”

Lu Chengjin didn’t hesitate. He turned and left the room. A few minutes later, he returned with a glass of orange juice and squatted by the bed to hand it to him.

Xie Rong took it and took a sip. He glanced at Lu Chengjin, then pinched the rim of the glass and slowly tilted it, pouring all the orange juice onto Lu Chengjin’s head.

“I only allowed myself one sip. I gave the rest to you. When your brother visits you in half a month, don’t you dare say I didn’t take good care of you,” Xie Rong stuck out his tongue and licked the residual pulp on the glass wall. The sweet and sour taste spread across his tongue, and he narrowed his eyes in satisfaction. “Besides me, who else would be willing to take care of a violent mute like you?”

[Protagonist Suffering Value +5. Current Protagonist Suffering Value: 30!]

Lu Chengjin closed his eyes, his chest rising and falling with restraint. The sticky orange liquid flowed down his brow bone to his chin, finally dripping onto the clothes covering his chest.

But he was still enduring. He hadn’t retrieved the necklace yet.

“As for that gemstone necklace, I’ll keep it safe for you temporarily,” Xie Rong said with a smile. “That’s part of my duty as a nanny, you know.”

    “…”

Lu Chengjin remained silent, but Xie Rong was in a great mood, his gaze repeatedly sweeping over him.

Until the phone in his small shoulder bag began to vibrate.

Xie Rong put down the glass and got out of bed barefoot to answer the call.

He sat on Lu Chengjin’s extremely cherished piano, his tender white leg flesh brazenly pressing down on the black and white keys. The phone he held to his ear was an old flip phone, the kind used by the elderly, which he must have picked up somewhere.

While talking on the phone, he found a moment to snap a photo of himself sitting on the piano and sent it to the person on the other end to show off, vainly claiming it was a piano he had just bought.

Through the nanny’s unconcealed conversation, Lu Chengjin easily learned that the man on the phone was his friend, who was inviting the little nanny to lunch tomorrow at a restaurant where the average cost per person exceeded four digits.

The inexperienced little nanny’s eyes lit up when he heard about a four-digit restaurant, especially since the other party was paying, yet he still pretended to be reserved and reluctantly agreed.

He hung up the phone, got off the piano, and walked with the legs that bore the marks of the keys to the pile of burnt clothes, beginning to search for something he could wear out to pass himself off as a rich person.

He had been utterly indifferent when setting the clothes on fire just moments ago, but now he looked heartbroken. He was truly fickle.

Xie Rong quickly found his outfit.

Although the clothes were all too large, as long as they were expensive, others would just assume the design was unique.

Later that night, he chased Lu Chengjin out of the room and slept soundly. The next day, he woke up, took a shower, and prepared to put on his clothes to go out, only to find—

His underwear was gone! He had paid for those!

Xie Rong, draped in a loose bathrobe, frantically searched the room.

Lu Chengjin stood outside the door, silently pushing it open a crack. His dark eyes watched the busy figure coldly through the gap.

Clutched in his hand was precisely that bright red pair of underwear.
