RT Chapter 7
by VolareChapter 7 I Will Understand My Omega in the Shortest Amount of Time
Inside the hospital room, the rhythmic beeping of the medical equipment filled the air.
Shu Lin had been watching over the hospital room the whole time, and as soon as his tensed spirit relaxed, he found himself dozing off by his father’s bedside without even noticing.
Suddenly, he heard a weak call: “Xiao Lin…”
Shu Lin startled awake and looked around, finding Shu Lingxiao weakly opening her eyes.
“Sister!” Shu Lin rushed to her bedside. “You’re finally awake! How do you feel? Is anything bothering you?”
Shu Lingxiao managed a weak smile. “I… I’m fine… Where is this?”
She looked around.
This hospital room was too luxurious, with a separate sitting area and the most advanced medical equipment.
“This is…” Shu Lin hesitated. “A special care ward in a private hospital.”
“Special care ward?” Shu Lingxiao frowned. “How can we afford a place like this?”
Shu Lin’s heart skipped a beat.
He tried to remain calm. “It’s… It was arranged by the government. The hospital explosion had a big impact, so…”
“Xiao Lin,” Shu Lingxiao interrupted him, her gaze sharp despite her weakness. “You’re lying.”
Shu Lin panicked.
Growing up, he had always been a good boy and could never lie to his sister.
“I…” He lowered his head. “Actually… a kind person helped us.”
“A kind person?” Shu Lingxiao’s voice was skeptical. “What kind of kind person would arrange a room like this for us?”
Shu Lin’s forehead was covered in sweat.
For some reason, he didn’t want his family to know about the deal he had made with Shao Chengxi.
In desperation, he had a flash of inspiration, throwing himself onto his sister and acting spoiled: “Sis~ you just woke up and you’re already being all professional, treating me like a criminal, and you don’t even care if I got hurt!”
Reminded by him, Shu Lingxiao’s attention immediately shifted to him. “It’s my fault, Xiao Lin, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Shu Lin took the opportunity to change the subject. “But you, you lost so much blood, you scared me to death!”
He raised his head, his eyes red, like a frightened little rabbit.
Shu Lingxiao’s heart softened. “Silly child, isn’t your sister doing just fine?”
“How is this fine!” Shu Lin pouted. “Look at you, your complexion is so bad, your arm is injured, and even your head…”
As he spoke, his voice choked up again.
Shu Lingxiao smiled helplessly. “Why do you still cry like you did when you were little?”
“I don’t!” Shu Lin wiped the corner of his eye, scolding him: “Sis, you always make fun of me!”
Seeing his younger brother acting spoiled, Shu Lingxiao temporarily forgot about pressing him about the hospital room.
Seeing Shu Jingcheng lying on the other hospital bed, she worriedly said, “How’s Dad?”
“The doctor said he’s out of danger,” Shu Lin said quickly. “He just hasn’t woken up yet.”
Shu Lingxiao breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good…”
Her eyes fell on the luxurious hospital room again. “Xiao Lin, you’re really not lying to your sister?”
Shu Lin’s heart was in his throat again.
He blinked and gave a naive smile: “Sis~ You’re so naggy as soon as you wake up. Do you want me to call the doctor to check you again?”
“You…” Shu Lingxiao shook her head. “Forget it, let’s talk about it when Dad wakes up.”
Shu Lin secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but he also felt guilty.
He knew that the truth would eventually be revealed to them.
But for now, he just wanted to enjoy this moment of peace.
“Sis,” he leaned on his sister’s bed, “You must be hungry, the doctor said you can eat some liquid food, there’s some prepared hot porridge, I’ll feed you.”
Shu Lingxiao watched him go to get the porridge, hesitant, always feeling that something was wrong.
After eating half a bowl of porridge, Shu Lingxiao was too weak due to blood loss and fell asleep again.
Unknowingly, it had grown dark.
Only a warm yellow wall lamp was lit in the hospital room.
Shu Lin sat between the two beds, looking at his father one moment and his sister the next, afraid of missing the moment they woke up.
The door was gently pushed open, and Shao Chengxi walked in.
He was still wearing his military uniform from the day, clearly having just finished official business and not having had time to change into casual clothes.
“Why are you here?” Shu Lin stood up in surprise.
Shao Chengxi glanced at the two people on the hospital bed and lowered his voice: “I just happened to be passing by.”
His gaze fell on Shu Lin.
The boy was obviously exhausted, with dark circles under his eyes, and his shirt was crumpled, but he still couldn’t hide his delicate beauty.
“They haven’t woken up yet?”
Shu Lin shook his head, then nodded. “My sister woke up, then fell asleep again. My dad hasn’t woken up, but the doctor said all the indicators are normal, it’s just a matter of time.”
Shao Chengxi took a step closer, able to smell the faint apricot sweetness on Shu Lin, mixed with the scent of disinfectant.
He subconsciously took a deep breath, the sweetness reducing his day’s fatigue.
Suddenly, he really wanted to take the little Omega in front of him back tonight.
Perhaps with him lying by his side, he wouldn’t have so much trouble falling asleep.
But he knew that with Shu Lin’s current state, he wouldn’t be in the mood to go back with him.
“Go and rest,” Shao Chengxi said, “I had someone prepare a rest room next door.”
Shu Lin stubbornly shook his head. “I want to stay here with them.”
Shao Chengxi frowned. “Didn’t you say you’d listen to everything I said? It’s only been a day, and you’ve already forgotten?”
“I…” Shu Lin was speechless and lowered his head.
Shao Chengxi then saw his exposed glands and the slender nape of his neck.
Looking closer, this little Omega’s ears were also very fair, pinkish-white, and in the light, he could even see the capillaries inside.
Seeming to realize that he shouldn’t be so fierce with him, Shao Chengxi deliberately softened his tone and said:
“If you stay up like this, what will happen when they wake up and you collapse?”
Shu Lin bit his lower lip. “I… I can’t sleep.”
Shao Chengxi was silent for a moment, then suddenly reached out and ruffled his hair.
The intimate gesture stunned them both.
“Go wash your face,” Shao Chengxi withdrew his hand, “I’ll have someone bring some food over and bring you a set of clean clothes.”
“Oh… okay.” Shu Lin lowered his head, feeling his scalp burning.
When Shu Lin came out of the restroom, someone had already started setting up the meal in the living room.
Shao Chengxi sat on the living room sofa, reading documents.
“Come and eat.” He said without looking up.
Shu Lin obediently sat down.
He noticed that these dishes were all his favorites.
Even the dessert was his favorite strawberry cake.
He was surprised, but he didn’t ask.
Seeming to be able to see through everything, Shao Chengxi turned a page of the document and glanced at him:
“In addition to your physical examination report, I’ve also looked at your other background information. I will understand my Omega in the shortest amount of time.”
Shu Lin’s face flushed.
He thought of the detailed physical examination report, with even the most private data having been seen by this Alpha, and he suddenly felt uneasy.
“That…” He tried to change the subject. “Was the casualty serious from the city hospital explosion? Was it still the opposition that did it?”
Shao Chengxi closed the document and looked at him without saying anything.
Shu Lin met his eyes for a moment, then suddenly realized that he had overstepped his boundaries.
