RT Chapter 6
by VolareShao Chengxi’s whole body stiffened.
He had never had such intimate physical contact with an Omega.
Shu Lin’s faint, sweet-smelling pheromone wafted over him, blending perfectly with his icy fragrance.
The young man’s body temperature transmitted through the thin shirt gave him an indescribable, unfamiliar feeling of comfort.
“Thank you, thank you…” Shu Lin said with a sob, warm tears dripping onto Shao Chengxi’s neck.
Shao Chengxi’s hands hung in the air, unsure where to put them.
Reason told him that he should push away this reckless little Omega, but his body disobeyed his will.
His hand finally landed gently on Shu Lin’s back, patting it awkwardly.
“You… you let go first.” His voice was a little stiff.
Only then did Shu Lin realize his gaffe, and he hurriedly let go, his cheeks flushed red, “I’m sorry, I, I was too excited…”
Shao Chengxi straightened out his wrinkled shirt, turned around, and said calmly, “Clean up a bit, I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Shu Lin quickly wiped away his tears, “Okay, okay.”
Shao Chengxi stood at the door, watching Shu Lin put on his shoes.
His gaze unconsciously fell on the corner of the Omega’s eyes, where traces of tears still remained. His brow furrowed unconsciously, but quickly returned to normal.
Shao Chengxi suddenly realized that this seemingly weak Omega seemed to be starting to affect his emotions.
This feeling was dangerous, but… not unpleasant.
“Let’s go.” He opened the door, “Remember, always watch your words and actions.”
Shu Lin nodded obediently and trotted behind him.
Only then did he notice that the Alpha in front of him was a head taller than him.
His legs were a bit too long.
The two walked one after the other in the corridor, neither of them speaking.
The black car drove smoothly on the dedicated lane.
Shu Lin sat in the back seat, maintaining a polite distance from Shao Chengxi, but in the enclosed compartment, their pheromones intertwined uncontrollably.
Shu Lin could clearly smell the clear, cold icy fragrance, like the biting wind in winter, but with a faint hint of tenderness.
His glands were slightly hot, and he unconsciously shrank towards the car door.
Shao Chengxi looked down at the documents in his hand, but his peripheral vision caught sight of the little Omega beside him.
Shu Lin’s faint, sweet fragrance made him feel comfortable, and his tense nerves relaxed inexplicably.
He loosened his tie and continued to look at the documents.
“Minister Shao, we’ll be at the hospital in ten minutes.” The driver broke the silence.
Shu Lin said nervously, “My father and sister… are they really okay?”
“Shao’s Hospital has the best medical team,” Shao Chengxi closed the document, “You don’t need to worry.”
Hearing his machine-like, calm words, Shu Lin felt relieved.
Noticing that the other party’s fingers were unconsciously stroking the edge of the document, he felt puzzled again.
This man was nervous.
But what was he nervous about?
The car drove into the hospital’s underground parking lot, and security personnel immediately came forward to open the door.
Shu Lin followed Shao Chengxi into the private elevator and discovered that even the elevator buttons required special authorization.
“Minister Shao.” As soon as the elevator door opened, the dean, who had been waiting for a long time, immediately greeted him, “The two patients have been transferred to the VIP ward, and their condition is currently stable.”
Shu Lin noticed that all the medical staff around Shao Chengxi were respectful, not even daring to breathe loudly.
Shao Chengxi merely nodded slightly, his every move showing the dignity of someone in a high position.
“Lead the way.” He said briefly.
Walking through the long corridor, Shu Lin could feel the gazes coming from all directions.
Some were curious, some were surprised, and even more were probing.
Outside the VIP ward, the attending doctor was waiting: “Minister Shao, Mr. Shu. Both patients have just emerged from the critical period and are still in a coma, but their vital signs are stable.”
Shu Lin couldn’t wait to push open the door. Seeing his father and sister in the hospital beds, tears instantly welled up in his eyes.
His father was covered in tubes, his face frighteningly pale.
His sister’s arm was in a cast, and her forehead was wrapped in gauze.
But at least, they were still alive.
Shao Chengxi stood at the door, watching Shu Lin’s trembling back. He raised his hand to signal the others to leave and gently closed the door.
“They need to rest,” he walked to Shu Lin’s side, “So do you.”
Shu Lin shook his head, walked to the bedside, and took his father’s hand, “I want to stay with them.”
“Okay.” Shao Chengxi agreed readily, then left Shu Lin alone and walked out of the ward.
Seeing him come out, Assistant Cheng stepped forward and said, “Minister Shao, Chairman Shao is waiting for you in the office.”
In the top-floor office of Shao’s Hospital, Shao Bingheng’s sharp gaze swept over his second son sitting across from the desk.
“I heard you just registered your marriage?” He went straight to the point.
Shao Chengxi met his gaze, his expression as usual, “Yes, with a US-Class Omega.”
“You made such a hasty decision without even holding a family meeting?” Shao Bingheng’s voice carried displeasure, “Do you know what this means?”
“It means I’ve found the best Omega candidate,” Shao Chengxi got up, walked to the wine cabinet, and poured himself a glass of red wine, “A 99% pheromone match rate. Father should understand what that means.”
Shao Bingheng frowned, “Match rate isn’t everything. His family background, his abilities…”
“None of that is important,” Shao Chengxi interrupted him, “What’s important is that he can help me get through my rut, allowing me to no longer suffer this torment and have more energy to focus on my career.”
“You’re too naive,” Shao Bingheng sneered, “What political resources can an Omega with no background bring you?”
Shao Chengxi swirled his glass, the ice cubes colliding and making a crisp sound, and said:
“Father, with the Shao family’s current position in the empire, do we still need a political marriage? If that’s the case, what’s the point of the Shao family’s century of accumulation? In the end, we can’t even freely choose the Omega we need.”
Shao Bingheng narrowed his eyes, “Even if the Shao family doesn’t need a political marriage, you shouldn’t be so hasty about marriage.”
Shao Chengxi took a sip of wine and put down the glass, “Times have changed. Father chose Mother back then to consolidate Shao’s position in the business world. And my goal is in the political world. What I need is not a business marriage, but…”
He paused, “A perfect image, outstanding political achievements.”
“So you chose a commoner Omega?” Shao Bingheng’s voice was sarcastic, “Do you know what the outside world will say?”
“Discuss?” Shao Chengxi smirked, “The combination of an S-Class Alpha and a US-Class Omega will only become a legend. What’s more…”
His eyes became sharp, “I’ll soon be able to shut them up.”
Shao Bingheng was silent for a moment, then suddenly laughed, “You are indeed my son. But…”
He got up and walked in front of Shao Chengxi, “Remember, marriage is not a game. If you don’t handle it well, it will affect the entire Shao family.”
“I know what I’m doing,” Shao Chengxi looked straight into his father’s eyes, “Instead of worrying about my marriage, Father should think about how to deal with the aftermath of the chemical plant explosion.”
Shao Bingheng’s expression changed, “What do you mean by that?”
“Nothing,” Shao Chengxi straightened his cuffs, “Just reminding Father that Shao’s shares in the chemical plant may become a target for some people.”
The office fell into a brief silence.
Finally, Shao Bingheng sighed, “You are already a mature politician and have your own ideas. But…”
He patted his son’s shoulder, “Forget it, do it your way. No matter what you decide, the Shao family will support you, as long as you don’t forget your ultimate goal.”
Shao Chengxi’s expression was indifferent, “Don’t worry, Father, I will take the presidential seat as soon as possible.”
After saying that, he turned to leave.
As he reached the door, Shao Bingheng’s voice came from behind, “After you’re done with this, bring your Omega and your family to formally meet the family. You have to make a special trip to see your grandfather.”
“Understood.”
