RT Chapter 47
by VolareChapter 47: Sulking
Shu Lin’s eyes were swollen like peaches. He simply leaned on Shu Jingcheng’s shoulder, hesitant to speak.
He had originally wanted to ask, “Dad, am I, as an Omega, only useful in bed?”
In the end, he didn’t ask.
He was afraid his father and sister would blame themselves.
He couldn’t explain why he suddenly felt this way.
The night before last, when Shao Chengxi pressed Shu Lin onto the bed, he pushed Shao Chengxi forcefully. “Wait, not yet… Can we talk for a bit?”
Shao Chengxi bit the fair finger pushing him, absentmindedly. “What does Baby want to talk about?”
Shu Lin’s eyes showed anticipation, “My sister said that this incident was something you and she had discussed in advance. Can you tell me how you… Ah… Shao, Shao Chengxi, you, you stop…”
Shao Chengxi’s kisses didn’t stop. “Baby, now is not the time to be curious about this. Be good, close your eyes. I promise you’ll be satisfied.”
Shao Chengxi knew his body like the back of his hand. They hadn’t been intimate in days, and now that he had the opportunity, he held nothing back.
The next day, when he woke up, Shao Chengxi was long gone.
He looked at his phone and saw several missed calls and messages from Gu Xiao.
Gu Xiao asked him why he hadn’t told him he wasn’t coming to class today.
The teacher had called his name in class, but Gu Xiao was wearing headphones and didn’t answer, which he regretted.
[Babe, are you okay? Remember to tell your bro if something’s up, we can figure it out together.]
Shu Lin would discuss many things with Gu Xiao.
For example, dubbing jobs, school events, and being pestered by Alphas.
As well as skipping class to answer roll call, and which cafeteria to go to for lunch. These were trivial matters of daily life.
Shu Lin didn’t have many close friends.
After his differentiation, he had to hide from Alphas with ulterior motives, and Omegas didn’t want to play with him because he was too good-looking.
Fortunately, he met Gu Xiao.
Good friends are valued for quality, not quantity; one is enough.
Thinking about it, aside from the evenings, he spent most of his daytime hours at school with Gu Xiao.
Even after he became Shao Chengxi’s Omega, it was still the same.
It seemed that, in fact, even having an Alpha couldn’t shake Gu Xiao’s position in his heart.
After replying to Gu Xiao, Shu Lin leaned against the bed, staring blankly at the scenery outside the window.
Not going to school, he was alone in the house all day.
Shao Chengxi was too busy; he only saw him at night.
Even when they did see each other at night, they didn’t say much besides going to bed.
The night before last, he had originally wanted to have a good conversation with Shao Chengxi.
But Shao Chengxi seemed only interested in his body and didn’t want to share anything else with him.
Shu Lin bit his lip, feeling a surge of grievance, but also feeling like he was being a bit dramatic.
After all, it had been several days since they had done “that,” so it was normal for Shao Chengxi to just want to go to bed with him.
So he would try again.
Thus, that evening, when Shao Chengxi returned, he tried again to share things about his work and life.
However, before he could even say a complete sentence, Shao Chengxi started getting physical with him.
Shu Lin suddenly lost control of his emotions and burst into uncontrollable tears.
He couldn’t help but wonder if he really only had that one value: his body.
His father and sister had applied for a virtual identity for him mainly to protect him, to prevent him from being fought over as a tool by high-ranking Alphas.
They were also worried that the identity of a US-Class Omega was too dazzling and would overshadow his other shining qualities.
But he had used the identity of a US-Class Omega to make a deal with Shao Chengxi.
It was the only value he had in his transaction with him.
Why did he feel so sad about it now?
“Little Lin tells Dad everything. You can’t get married and then have secrets from Dad. Tell Dad, what’s wrong?”
Shu Jingcheng held his shoulders straight, looking into his eyes.
Shu Lin smiled and pursed his lips. “It’s nothing much. The dubbing work is a bit rough, and I got scolded by the director, so I’m feeling unhappy. But I cried it out, and now I’m all better.”
“Is that so?”
“Of course, Dad, you know me. My social circle is so small, and the things I encounter are just these. If you don’t believe me, I’ll show you my chat history with Gu Xiao; it’s all us cursing the director.”
Shu Lin wasn’t lying; they had indeed been criticized by Lu Shanchuan a lot recently.
He didn’t know if he was deliberately targeting them or if they were too young and inexperienced in dubbing and really hadn’t met his expectations.
On the other side, Shao Chengxi used the excuse of taking a call from Vice President Wu Xun to come out of the conference room.
“Don’t worry, we will catch a big fish this time, um…”
A few minutes later, he hung up the phone, stared at it for a few seconds, opened the message box and typed, “Baby, are you feeling better?”
He hesitated, deleted the message, and dialed Chen the housekeeper’s number directly. “How is Shu Lin?”
Chen the housekeeper’s voice came from the other end of the phone:
“Minister Shao, Mr. Shu Senior came and is talking with Little Shu. I see him laughing and talking, so he’s in a much better mood. You don’t have to worry.”
Shao Chengxi hung up the phone, relieved, but also confused.
This was the first time Shu Lin had been so abnormal in the nearly half a year they had been together.
But he really couldn’t figure out what was going on.
After the meeting, he called Shu Lin.
Shu Lin acted as if nothing had happened, his tone was very light, and he said that his dad had just left and that he had arranged to go out with friends in the afternoon.
After saying this, he seemed to be busy getting ready to go out and hung up the phone.
Shu Lin’s fickleness made Shao Chengxi even more confused.
Shao Chengxi didn’t get home until after 11 PM.
When he got back, Shu Lin was already asleep.
He walked quietly into the room, sat on the edge of the bed, and looked at Shu Lin’s sleeping face. Shao Chengxi couldn’t help reaching out to touch his cheek and burying his head in his neck, deeply inhaling his scent.
So fragrant, so sweet.
The sweet apricot scent calmed his mind and seemed to dissolve the fatigue of the day.
Shao Chengxi’s heart softened a little, and he gently kissed Shu Lin’s forehead before getting up to take a shower.
The bathroom was filled with a strong scent of icy pheromones. Shao Chengxi raised his hand to touch the back of his neck.
It was burning hot.
Once March arrived, his rut period wouldn’t be far away.
It seemed to coincide exactly with the crucial period of the roundup, so he had to plan carefully.
Whenever this time came, there were always people who would resort to despicable means, taking advantage of his rut period to make him look bad and trip him up.
Hmph, they didn’t succeed before, and they certainly wouldn’t now.
Because he had Shu Lin, and their despicable methods were useless to him.
With Shu Lin, he no longer had to take strong inhibitors and endure the unbearable pain.
However, he was hesitating whether or not to mark his Omega during the rut period.
This little episode between the couple came without rhyme or reason and left just as mysteriously.
After that, the two seemed to be the same as before.
When Shao Chengxi came back at night, Shu Lin never asked him much.
Ten days later, the verdicts for the two bombing cases finally came out.
At the same time as the public sentencing, it meant that the opposition had disappeared from the Imperial political arena.
In mid-March, another bombshell news broke in the political arena.
Vice President Ming Jialuo, who was in charge of justice and supervision, had been detained for providing a large amount of supplies to the opposition.
Seeing this news, the corners of Shao Chengxi’s mouth lifted slightly.
Finally caught this big fish.
