RT Chapter 3
by VolareChapter 3 Rejection of the Deal
Dragging his weary body home, Shu Lin stood under the shower, letting the warm water wash away his physical exhaustion, but it couldn’t wash away the anxiety in his heart.
In the mirror, the boy’s eyes were bloodshot, and his face was pale.
Stepping out of the bathroom, he took a deep breath and began to tidy himself up.
He put on a formal shirt, combed his hair meticulously, and sprayed on a Scent Blocking Patch, just in case.
This might be the last time he used it.
Once he was ready, Shu Lin went into the study, opened a drawer, and took out a sealed document bag inside.
This contained his real identification documents and his Omega grade assessment report.
He originally thought he would never need these documents in his life.
“Dad, Sis, hang in there,” he said softly. “Wait for me.”
The city hall had just opened its doors in the early morning, and Shu Lin was the first visitor.
He went straight to the identity registration office, his heart pounding like a drum.
“I want to apply to make my real Omega grade public,” he said, handing the documents to the staff member.
The staff member took the documents and, when she saw the words “US-Class,” looked up in surprise:
“Are you sure? Once it’s made public, it can’t be revoked. Are you aware of the possible consequences?”
Shu Lin nodded firmly, “I am sure and I am aware. I choose targeted disclosure. This is the person I choose to disclose my real identity to.”
The staff member took the slip of paper he handed over, saw the name on it, and her cheeks twitched slightly, trying to maintain a professional demeanor.
The procedures went smoothly.
When the last document was signed, Shu Lin was trembling all over.
He knew that from this moment on, his life would be completely changed.
Less than a quarter of an hour after leaving the city hall, his phone rang.
It was an unknown number.
“Hello, is this Mr. Shu Lin?”
A capable female voice came from the other end of the phone, “I am Assistant Cheng of Vice Minister Shao Chengxi. Minister Shao would like to meet with you. Is now a convenient time for you?”
Shu Lin gripped his phone tightly, his knuckles turning white, “It’s convenient. Please arrange it as soon as possible.”
“Okay, please go to the security channel on the east side of the city hall. There will be a car waiting for you.”
Hanging up the phone, Shu Lin’s legs felt weak.
He knew what he was about to face.
But for his father and sister, he had no choice.
On the way to the security channel, Shu Lin recalled everything from last night.
His father and sister in the ruins, the helplessness of the rescue workers, and his sleepless night of torment.
These images were like sharp knives, piercing his heart.
“It’s worth it,” he told himself, “As long as I can save them, everything is worth it.”
Outside the security channel, a black car waited quietly.
The driver opened the car door for him. Shu Lin took a deep breath and got in.
The car started slowly, heading towards an unknown destination.
Shu Lin looked at the fleeting street scenes outside the window and suddenly remembered when he was a child, his father always holding his hand and taking him to school.
At that time, he felt that his father’s hand was the safest harbor in the world.
“Dad, Sis,” he murmured in his heart, “Hang in there a little longer, I’ll come save you right away.”
The car drove into a heavily guarded building.
Shu Lin knew that he was about to meet the man he had seen countless times on television.
The man who could mobilize heavy rescue forces.
The man who might become his Alpha.
As the elevator doors opened on the top floor, Shu Lin’s heart was about to burst out of his chest.
At the end of the corridor, a heavy wooden door slowly opened.
The wooden door closed gently behind him, and Shu Lin felt as if he had stepped into a different world.
The office was spacious and bright, with a panoramic view of the entire city through the floor-to-ceiling windows, but Shu Lin’s attention was completely drawn to the man behind the desk.
Shao Chengxi stood up.
He looked even taller than he did on TV.
A meticulously tailored military uniform outlined his perfect figure, with straight shoulders and a trim waist.
He had an unforgettable face—deep brow bones, a high and straight nose, and a jawline as sharp as a knife.
The most striking thing was his eyes, as black as ink, but with a sharp light, as if they could see through everything.
“Mr. Shu,” his voice was low and powerful, with the unique majesty of a person in a high position.
Shu Lin’s breath caught in his throat. The powerful Alpha pheromone hit him head-on, carrying the scent of ice and snow.
His mind wavered slightly, and he looked up and walked forward.
Shao Chengxi looked at Shu Lin without concealment.
Even though he had seen a lot, it was the first time in his life that he had seen a real US-Class Omega.
After all, they were one in a million, truly rare.
A rare find.
This US-Class Omega was younger than he had imagined, looking like a teenager.
The boy was slender, with skin so fair it was almost transparent, seeming to glow in the morning light.
As expected of an Omega with the best genes, this little face was too beautiful, with incredibly delicate features.
Those eyes, as if filled with starlight, were now filled with anxiety.
Shao Chengxi noticed that the little Omega in front of him was trembling, but stubbornly straightened his back, forcing himself to look directly at him.
This contradictory quality inexplicably made him unable to look away.
“Please sit down,” Shao Chengxi said, pointing to the chair opposite him.
As Shu Lin sat down, the other man also sat down, his slender fingers gently tapping the tabletop, the rhythm steady, as if silently controlling the entire situation.
“I’ve seen your identity information,” Shao Chengxi said, “A US-Class Omega, indeed rare.”
Shu Lin felt his throat go dry, “Minister Shao, I…”
“Why did you choose to reveal your identity to me?” Shao Chengxi interrupted him, his eyes sharp.
Shu Lin clenched the hem of his clothes, “I believe Minister Shao also knows that an explosion occurred at City Central Hospital yesterday. My father and sister are trapped in the hospital ruins and need heavy equipment for rescue. Ordinary rescue forces cannot save them in time.”
Shao Chengxi raised an eyebrow slightly, “So, you plan to exchange yourself?”
These words were like a heavy hammer.
Shu Lin’s face flushed, but he still nodded firmly, “Yes. As long as you can save them, I am willing to become your Omega.”
A brief silence fell in the office.
Shao Chengxi stood up again and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.
From this angle, he could see the thick smoke rising from the hospital ruins in the distance.
“You know,” he said, his back to Shu Lin, “With my status, I don’t need to get an Omega in this way.”
Shu Lin’s heart sank.
His voice trembled slightly, “But… but I am US-Class, our compatibility…”
“95% or higher,” Shao Chengxi turned around, “Indeed very tempting.”
He walked closer slowly, and Shu Lin could clearly smell the icy scent, clear and oppressive.
Subconsciously backing away, Shu Lin’s back pressed against the back of the chair.
Shao Chengxi looked down at him, “You are very brave, daring, but also very naive. Do you think I would mobilize troops and heavy equipment because of an Omega’s request?”
Shu Lin’s eyes were hot, and he forced himself to look into the other man’s eyes:
“I know this is presumptuous, but… my father just had surgery and is very weak. My sister was injured in the explosion and lost too much blood. They can’t wait too long…”
“I’m sorry.”
His words were ruthlessly interrupted.
