    Chapter 28: Bear With It

During these two months of his business trip, no matter how busy Shao Chengxi was, he would always squeeze out time to call Shu Lin.

The opportunities he had to make calls were already few.

Even so, he couldn’t always reach Shu Lin.

At first, Shu Lin would still answer his calls.

Although he didn’t say much, at least he could hear his voice and see his face.

But gradually, Shu Lin, just like now, wouldn’t answer his calls, saying he would call back, but rarely did.

He rarely sent him messages proactively.

Let alone taking the initiative to call him.

Shao Chengxi sank into the large chair, closed his eyes, and Shu Lin’s figure involuntarily appeared in his mind.

He missed Shu Lin’s sweet pheromones, that unique apricot scent, which always calmed his restless nerves.

But why was he avoiding him?

Was he blaming him for that incident?

He only hated that he was overwhelmed and tied down by official duties, otherwise, how could he have let him misunderstand so much?

Feeling his pheromones starting to become uncontrollable, Shao Chengxi cursed softly, “Damn it.”

He got up, walked to the window, opened it, and let the biting cold wind blow towards him.

Outside the window was the night view of Fenghang City, brilliantly lit.

But in Shao Chengxi’s eyes, there was only Shu Lin’s figure.

Bear with it, he told himself.

Soon, things here would be dealt with, and he would be able to go back soon.

With a clearer mind, he took out his phone and looked at the photos Shao Shiyan had sent him.

In the photo, Shu Lin was studying diligently, his profile very beautiful.

Shao Chengxi’s fingers gently stroked the screen, as if he could touch Shu Lin’s cheek.

“Minister Shao, the President orders you to go to the conference room immediately for an emergency meeting,” Assistant Cheng suddenly burst in.

Shao Chengxi’s expression tightened, he put away his phone, turned around, his eyes cold and stern, “Let’s go.”

In the conference room, the atmosphere was heavy.

Vice President Wu Xun sat in the main seat, his face serious.

The operation to eliminate the remnants of the opposition in Fenghang City was generally smooth, with only the final roundup remaining.

But they had just received a secret report that the leader of the opposition, driven to desperation, had colluded with foreign forces and planned to flee the country tonight.

Upon hearing this, Shao Chengxi decisively said, “We can’t let them escape, otherwise these people will make a comeback and use foreign forces to create terrorist incidents again. I have planted an undercover agent among them, and according to the location, we can find these people. I suggest we take action immediately to wipe them out in one fell swoop.”

    “Specific plan?” Wu Xun asked.

Shao Chengxi turned on the projector, and a map of Fenghang City appeared on the screen.

“We will launch simultaneous raids on these three strongholds at three o’clock tonight. The special forces are ready, and the intelligence department is ready to cooperate.”

He pointed to several red dots on the map: “This is their armory, this is the command center, and this is…”

Wu Xun interrupted him, “Risk assessment of the operation?”

“The risk is controllable,” Shao Chengxi said confidently, “We have intercepted their communication codes and can cut off their contact before the operation. Cooperating with the undercover agent planted inside, we can ensure that this raid is foolproof.”

A murmur arose in the conference room.

Someone questioned, “Will such a large-scale military operation cause public panic?”

Shao Chengxi glanced coldly at that person, “Compared to the terrorist attacks of the opposition, what is this little panic?”

Wu Xun thought for a moment and said, “I agree with your plan. The operation will be your sole responsibility. There must be no mistakes!”

“Yes,” Shao Chengxi stood at attention and saluted, “I guarantee to complete the mission.”

Three o’clock in the morning, outskirts of Fenghang City.

Shao Chengxi stood in the command vehicle, observing the situation of each action team through the monitoring screen.

    “Team One is in position.”

    “Team Two is in position.”

    “Team Three is in position.”

Shao Chengxi picked up the walkie-talkie, “Begin the operation.”

Instantly, the three strongholds were simultaneously raided.

An hour later, reports were received from each team.

    “Report, Target One captured.”

    “Report, Target Two eliminated.”

    “Report, Target Three…”

Suddenly, a hurried voice came from the walkie-talkie: “Minister Shao, Target Three has a larger than expected number of weapons, requesting support!”

Shao Chengxi’s eyes turned cold, “Use heavy long-range weapons.”

“But…” the other party hesitated, “There are civilians there…”

Shao Chengxi shouted sternly, “Why didn’t you conduct a pre-war assessment if there were civilians? I’ll give you fifteen minutes to evacuate the crowd, or you’ll lose your head.”

    “Yes, Minister Shao.”

Putting down the walkie-talkie, Shao Chengxi immediately got up and led a team of special forces towards Target Three.

Twenty minutes later, a huge explosion was heard from the direction of Target Three.

Assistant Cheng, who was guarding the screen, heard the voice coming from the walkie-talkie.

    “Report, Target Three eliminated.”

Assistant Cheng said anxiously, “Minister Shao took people to Target Three twenty minutes ago, did you meet up with him?”

“What? No wonder it was so fast and so smooth, so it was Minister Shao. We’ll go find Minister Shao to meet up with him right away.”

    ……

At eleven o’clock the next morning, Shu Lin finished his last exam, walked out of the examination room, and stretched a long lazy stretch in the warm winter sun.

Great, the exam is finally over, and I can focus on the dubbing work for that big IP.

Later, he would call the dubbing team, and starting tomorrow, the crew could arrange his dubbing parts as needed.

Just as he put down his stretching arms, the phone vibrated.

Looking at the caller ID, it was Shao Bingheng.

Shu Lin stared at the phone, a little apprehensive.

Was he going to ask him to go back to the Shao Residence again?

Shao Shiyan was his peer, so he could refuse him.

Shao Bingheng was an elder, and if he really asked, it would be difficult for him to refuse.

Shu Lin pursed his lips tightly, struggled for a while, and answered the phone.

    “…Fa, Father.”

If he really had to, he would just go to the Shao Residence again.

Then, Shu Lin’s face turned pale.

Shao Bingheng said that Shao Chengxi was injured in a military operation last night and was currently being rescued in the hospital.

“You are the Omega who has bonded with Chengxi. In a critical situation, your pheromones can pull him back from the brink of death. Wait for me at the East Gate of Imperial University. I’ll pick you up immediately, and you’ll come with me to Fenghang City.”

“Okay, okay, go, East Gate, let’s go, let’s go right away…” Shu Lin stammered in a panic.

Hanging up the phone, he ran towards the East Gate.

    How could this be?

    How could he be injured?

    And, and still being rescued…

Last night, they had a video call, and Shao Chengxi kept calling him “baby,” and his words were all coaxing him.

He also told Shu Lin not to be angry, and that he would be back by New Year’s Day.

Shu Lin was a little confused, how could Shao Chengxi think he was angry?

    What was he angry about?

He just didn’t know what to say to Shao Chengxi.

On the way to the airport, Shu Lin called his father and sister to tell them the news.

Under his father’s comfort, he wasn’t so panicked.

His father was right, with the Shao family blocking in front, there was no need for him to worry.

If the Shao family couldn’t do anything, he would be even more helpless.

When his father and sister had an accident, he thought of asking Shao Chengxi for help and making a deal with him.

If Shao Chengxi had an accident, it wouldn’t be his turn to worry.

As long as his father and sister were okay, he had nothing to fear.

As soon as the plane landed, Shao Bingheng took Shu Lin to the hospital.

Along the way, Shu Lin’s mind would still involuntarily replay the phrase “still being rescued.”

The two hurried into the military hospital, with officers lined up on both sides to greet them.

Everyone’s expressions were serious, and their eyes followed Shu Lin’s figure all the way.
