    Chapter 129: Sincerity

On the fourth day after the news was released, the entire political arena fell into an eerie silence.

All factions seemed to be holding their breath, watching, and even the media, who usually loved to stir up trouble, were uncharacteristically restrained.

Shao Chengxi understood the meaning behind this silence too well.

Just like the calm before a storm, and the final struggle of prey before it falls into a trap, this was an inevitable process.

    No rush.

    Keep calm.

However, recently his little Omega had been leaving early and returning late, and he rarely saw him when he got home, which made him feel anxious.

In the past, when he returned home, Shu Lin would pounce into his arms at the first opportunity, wanting kisses and hugs.

Shu Lin had been so busy with the studio lately that all these benefits of his were gone.

Now, Shu Lin had selected a script and was devoting almost all of his energy to preparing for his first self-produced radio drama.

These days, he and Gu Xiao were busy selecting voice actors from the Imperial University dubbing club.

As a result, it was almost nine o’clock in the evening, and he was still busy, not home yet.

Today was the last casting audition at Imperial University, which lasted until nine o’clock in the evening.

Shu Lin rubbed his sore neck and clicked on his muted phone, only to find that he had more than a dozen missed calls.

    All from Shao Chengxi.

“I’m done for…” He hurriedly packed up his materials and said to Gu Xiao, who was beside him, “I have to go back quickly, Gu Xiao, I’ll leave the finishing touches to you.”

If he didn’t go home soon, his Alpha would explode.

Gu Xiao poked his waist with a mischievous smile: “Oh, darling, so you’re henpecked after all.”

“What do you know!” Shu Lin kicked him playfully, “You’re single, how could you know the joys of having a husband?”

“Ah! Darling, you’re killing me, I’m dead!”

    Gu Xiao was finished off.

The lights in the master bedroom of the Shao Residence were warm and dim.

Shao Chengxi leaned against the headboard, holding a document in his hand, but he hadn’t turned a page for a long time.

The clock on the wall pointed to 9:38, and finally, familiar footsteps came from the courtyard.

Shu Lin tiptoed open the door, saw the Alpha on the bed, rushed up to him in one stride, pounced on top of him, wrapped his arms around his neck, and showed a flattering smile on his face:

“Brother, I’m back to sleep with you.”

Shao Chengxi put down the document, wrapped his arms around his waist, and his eyes were deep:

“You little heartless thing, we agreed to have dinner together tonight, do you see what time it is?”

Shu Lin guiltily rubbed against him, and just as he was about to explain, his phone suddenly rang.

    It was Gu Xiao calling.

“Hello…” He answered the phone while signaling Shao Chengxi with his eyes for forgiveness, “Ah? It’s not with me, it can’t be lost, if it’s lost, all our work these days will be for nothing…”

Suddenly, a warm body pressed against him from behind.

Shao Chengxi’s arms wrapped around his waist, and his lips brushed against the back of his neck intentionally.

Shu Lin trembled violently, his breath caught in his throat, and he almost groaned.

“What’s wrong?” Gu Xiao asked suspiciously from the other end of the phone.

“N-nothing!” Shu Lin tried to remain calm, “You, you look carefully in that blue… folder…”

Shu Lin’s entire back was against Alpha’s solid chest, and his breathing began to quicken.

He covered the phone, turned his head to meet Shao Chengxi’s eyes, “Brother… I’m on the phone… don’t…”

Shu Lin couldn’t help it, and hung up the phone in a panic.

Immediately afterward, he was pinned to the bed by Shao Chengxi.

“Brother…” Shu Lin pushed him away, blushing, “I haven’t taken a shower yet…”

Shao Chengxi bit his earlobe, “I haven’t taken one either, I’m waiting for baby to come back so we can shower together.”

“Wait! I have an 8 AM class tomorrow…”

The protest was sealed with a burning kiss.

Shu Lin was dizzy from his kisses, and the last bit of reason was still struggling: “But, but I have an 8 AM class tomorrow…”

“Don’t worry.” Shao Chengxi chuckled and picked him up in one go, “Your husband knows what he’s doing…”

The two of them never knew when to stop once they started fooling around.

After Shao Chengxi carried Shu Lin to bed, he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

After tucking Shu Lin in, Shao Chengxi was about to lie down and rest when the old butler came to report.

He said that Wu Xun, the Vice President, had come to visit in the middle of the night and was waiting in the front hall.

“Understood.” Shao Chengxi kissed Shu Lin’s forehead lightly, a satisfied smile on his lips, “Tell him to wait, I’ll be right there.”

    “Yes, Second Young Master.”

The old butler stood at the door, heard the voice from the bedroom, and turned to leave.

Late at night, the study of Shao Residence was still lit.

Shao Tingrui and Shao Bingheng were chatting with Wu Xun leisurely.

The three of them looked calm and relaxed, and there was no trace of tension on their faces.

When Shao Chengxi came in, the three of them smiled at him and motioned for him to take a seat.

Shao Chengxi smiled at Wu Xun politely and sat down in the seat next to him.

Wu Xun immediately smelled the strong scent of almond pheromones on him.

This should be the pheromone scent of his little Omega.

As an Alpha himself, Wu Xun immediately realized what was going on.

It seemed that he had disturbed the good time of this young S-Class Alpha.

After everyone exchanged a few polite greetings, the study fell silent.

The Shao family exchanged a knowing glance, waiting for Wu Xun to speak.

Since he had become this uninvited guest, he had to take the initiative to state his intentions and attitude.

“Minister Shao,” Wu Xun gave a dry laugh and finally opened his mouth, “Wu is visiting late at night because he wants to ask the Shao family to be merciful and let Wu off the hook. From now on, the Shao and Wu families will cooperate sincerely and never abandon each other.”

Shao Tingrui and Shao Bingheng didn’t speak, but looked at Shao Chengxi.

Now, Shao Chengxi was responsible for all foreign affairs of the Shao family.

“Vice President Wu,” Shao Chengxi curled his lips into a sneer, “Who comes to surrender empty-handed? Your sincerity is a little too light.”

The antique grandfather clock in the study made a dull ticking sound.

Wu Xun’s Adam’s apple bobbed, “What does Minister Shao mean…”

The night was as dark as ink, and Shao Chengxi’s voice was more unpredictable than the night:

“After the fall of the Pei family, the Shao family still remembers everything you did.”

“You and I are both clear-headed people. In the political arena, a person who has betrayed once is like a used condom…” His eyes became sharp, “Who would dare to use it a second time?”

Wu Xun’s face turned ugly, “This time is different! Hong Zhengyue, he wants to…”

“What he wants is not important.” Shao Chengxi raised his hand to interrupt, “What’s important is, what are you going to use to make me believe that you are twelve points sincere?”

He stared at Wu Xun aggressively, forcing him to a dead end.

Time was passing by minute by minute.

Wu Xun swallowed a few times, pursed his lips, took an encrypted hard drive from his briefcase, handed it to Shao Chengxi, and gave a wry smile:

“I don’t know if this is enough to be my ‘surrender’?”

Shao Chengxi took it and looked at it appraisingly.
