Chapter 124 Wait a Little Longer

Shu Lin groggily opened his eyes. Sunlight streamed through the yarn curtains, casting a warm glow on the bed.

As soon as he moved, he heard a low, gentle voice beside the bed.

“Awake?” Shao Chengxi, leaning by the bed, gently brushed away the stray hairs from his forehead. “Still tired? Do you need to use the restroom? Husband will carry you.”

Shu Lin blinked at him, a bright, sunflower-like smile blooming on his face, and stretched out his arms, coaxing softly, “Carry me…”

Shao Chengxi chuckled softly, his arms slipping beneath Shu Lin’s knees, lifting him steadily.

Shu Lin rested his head on his shoulder, like a lazy cat.

Returning from the restroom, they played around for a while, but Shu Lin became sleepy again, not even wanting breakfast, burrowing into the covers and nuzzling his pillow.

Shao Chengxi lay on his side, gently tracing the contours of his face with his fingertips, from his eyelashes to the tip of his nose, and down to his slightly parted lips.

The urge to Marking him rose, but he resolutely shook his head, holding Shu Lin even closer.

He should wait a little longer.

He couldn’t bear it, couldn’t bear to see Shu Lin in pain.

Shu Lin fell asleep again in the Alpha’s warm, broad embrace.

Shao Chengxi gazed at his sleeping face, his eyes overflowing with happiness.

As Shu Lin’s breathing gradually evened out, Shao Chengxi gently rose, tucked the blankets around him, and went to the desk beside the bed to continue reviewing official documents.

The Intelligence Bureau had submitted the latest case investigation report.

Shao Chengxi frowned slightly as he read through it.

The existing overt evidence still all pointed to Wu Xun.

Since Lin Zhengyang’s visit last time, Wu Xun’s side had maintained an ambiguous attitude, denying it verbally but not pointing out the real culprit.

They only provided some clues about the real culprit through secret channels.

“Trying to please both sides?” Shao Chengxi sneered, throwing the file onto the desk.

He knew Wu Xun’s plan all too well—he didn’t want to be a scapegoat, but he didn’t dare offend the real mastermind.

But Shao Chengxi didn’t intend to let Wu Xun get his way.

Wu Xun had deep roots, and acting rashly would be too costly, possibly allowing the real mastermind to reap the benefits.

Right now, he had to remain calm, bide his time, and wait for the best opportunity.

If he didn’t move, he wouldn’t, but if he did, it would be a fatal blow.

Outside the window, the courtyard was utterly silent.

Shao Chengxi instructed the servants to be quiet, not to disturb the sleeping person in the bed.

Shu Lin didn’t wake up until lunchtime.

The old butler made a special trip to invite them to Shao Tingrui’s place for lunch.

Shao Bingheng and Shao Yuqin were also dining with them.

It had been a while since they had eaten together, and the elders’ gazes all fell on Shu Lin, filled with affection, urging him to eat more.

Shu Lin hadn’t had breakfast and was quite hungry, eating with particular relish.

The elders were extremely pleased to see him eating so heartily.

When he had eaten enough, Shao Tingrui brought up a matter:

“Shu Lin performed a great service during this pheromone imbalance disorder incident.”

“Why not take this opportunity to publicly announce your marriage, announce Shu Lin’s true identity, and also take the opportunity to publicize this incident?”

“Shu Lin, Chengxi, what do you two think?”

The dining table fell silent, and everyone’s gaze turned to the young couple.

Shu Lin’s hand, holding the chopsticks, tightened slightly, his eyelashes fluttering, but he didn’t speak.

Shao Chengxi glanced at him, his tone calm, “Grandfather, haven’t we already agreed? We’ll wait until Shu Lin graduates from university.”

Shao Tingrui pursed his lips, “That’s true, but the situation has changed. If we don’t make it public, we can’t openly discuss the pheromone medical center incident.”

Shao Chengxi’s gaze swept over the crowd:

“Making it public now will only make him a target.”

“The identity of a US-Class Omega is too sensitive, coupled with the pheromone imbalance disorder incident, it will inevitably cause a huge uproar.”

“Shu Lin is still in school, and I can’t bear to have his life disrupted.”

“Besides, there’s no need to exploit the lives of twenty-odd people for attention; our Shao family doesn’t rely on that.”

Shu Lin quietly breathed a sigh of relief, the hand under the table being held by Shao Chengxi, his warm, dry palm giving him a sense of security.

Shao Tingrui turned the topic to Shu Lin, “Shu Lin, what’s your opinion?”

Shu Lin looked up at him, “Grandfather, I’m not ready yet, please wait a little longer.”

Shao Tingrui pondered for a moment, then nodded, “Alright, we’ll listen to Shu Lin, and wait until you’re ready to talk.”

“Thank you, Grandfather.” Shu Lin smiled brightly.

After the meal, Shu Lin, holding Shao Chengxi’s hand, strolled towards the detached villa where they lived.

The warm winter sun shone on them, particularly comfortable.

After walking a few steps, Shu Lin playfully jumped onto Shao Chengxi’s back, asking him to carry him.

Shao Chengxi carried him, turning his head to kiss his cheeks as he walked.

“Brother,” after a long, wet kiss with Shao Chengxi, Shu Lin panted softly, “Thank you.”

Shao Chengxi’s cheek brushed against his face, his breathing unsteady, “Thank you for what?”

“It’s nothing, I just want to thank you.” Shu Lin wrapped his arms around his neck, resting his chin on his broad shoulder.

Shao Chengxi chuckled softly, taking the opportunity to pinch his butt:

“Baby, I should be the one saying thank you, the Shao family should be saying thank you, thank you for everything you’ve done for me, for everything you’ve done for the Shao family.”

Shu Lin inexplicably laughed, “Brother, I suddenly remembered a song, I’ll sing it for you.”

Shao Chengxi shook his body, “Okay, I haven’t heard Baby sing yet.”

“Really?” Shu Lin said, “I sing very well, listen carefully, I’m going to sing.”

With that, he cleared his throat and began to sing.

“Let me say thank you, because of you, the four seasons are warm.”

“Thank you, thank you for having you, the world is more beautiful.”

“I want to thank you, because of you, love is always in my heart…”

    Shao Chengxi: “Uh…”

His footsteps faltered, and he chuckled softly, “So mischievous.”

He loved his baby most when he was so radiant and carefree.

Shu Lin, with a smile, actually finished the song.

After singing, he got off Shao Chengxi’s back and stood in front of him, “Brother, I have a decision to tell you.”

Shao Chengxi had never seen him so serious, and his expression also became serious.
