Chapter 1 First Meeting – The Youngest President

The scent of disinfectant lingered at the tip of his nose as Shu Lin sat patiently on the chair next to the hospital bed, scraping apple puree.

His Omega father, Shu Jingcheng, had undergone stomach cancer surgery a week ago. Although the doctor said the surgery was very successful, he was still worried.

“Dad, the doctor said you can eat some fruit puree now.” Shu Lin handed over the scooped apple puree.

Shu Jingcheng leaned against the headboard, his face still a little pale, but his spirits were good.

He took the apple puree from his son, his eyes gentle: “Little Lin has grown up and knows how to take care of people.”

“Of course, I’m already nineteen.” Shu Lin raised his chin, revealing a childlike, proud smile.

His features were delicate, his skin fair and radiant, and his entire face was so beautiful it could be described as stunning. When he smiled, the corners of his eyes tilted upwards slightly, carrying the softness and beauty unique to Omegas.

The door of the ward was pushed open, and Shu Lingxiao walked in wearing high heels.

She wore a neat prosecutor’s uniform and carried a thermos in her hand: “Dad, I had someone make chicken soup.”

“Sis, you’re off work?” Shu Lin got up and took the thermos from his Alpha sister’s hand.

Shu Lingxiao ruffled her younger brother’s hair: “The court hearing ran a little late today. You’ve been here with Dad all day, aren’t you tired?”

“Not tired.” Shu Lin shook his head with a smile, and helped his father fill a bowl of chicken soup.

Shu Lingxiao was 27 years old this year, graduated from a famous Imperial Capital law school, and worked in the Imperial Capital Procuratorate, currently serving as the head of the public prosecution section.

Shu Lin especially admired his Alpha sister.

The evening news was playing on the television in the ward, the female anchor’s serious voice echoing in the room:

“At three o’clock this afternoon, an explosion occurred in a chemical plant located in the suburbs of the Imperial Capital. Preliminary investigations indicate that it was the work of the opposition. The newly appointed Vice Minister of Defense, Shao Chengxi, rushed to the scene at the first possible moment…”

Shu Lin subconsciously looked up at the television screen.

In the picture, an Alpha who was at least 1.9 meters tall stood in front of the ruins, his black trench coat fluttering in the wind, revealing the crisp military uniform underneath.

His profile was distinct, his eyebrows and eyes deep, and even through the screen, one could feel that sharp aura.

“Shao Chengxi…” Shu Lin murmured the name.

“This person is not simple.” Shu Jingcheng put down the soup bowl, “He became the Vice Minister of Defense at twenty-seven, and he’s also an S-Class Alpha. It seems the Shao family is grooming him for the presidency.”

    Shu Lingxiao nodded:

“That’s right, the Shao family is the largest financial group in the empire, with a solid foundation. Among the three heirs, he is the only S-Class Alpha, and he also likes politics, so the Shao family is helping him with all their strength.”

“The Minister of Defense was already someone supported by the Shao family. Although this second son is only a deputy, he is actually the one who has the final say in the entire Ministry of Defense.”

Shu Jingcheng: “If he can properly handle this chemical plant explosion, his popularity among the people will definitely rise sharply, and his future will be limitless.”

Shu Lingxiao shook her head, “…The relationships involved are complicated, so it won’t be that easy.”

Speaking of this, she looked at Shu Lin and reminded him: “Recently, the opposition’s activities have been frequent, and the situation is not very stable. You are an Omega, so you must pay attention to safety when you go out.”

Shu Lin nodded obediently, “I know. Sis, what do you think is the purpose of them bombing the chemical plant?”

“A show of strength.” Shu Lingxiao sighed, “The political situation is turbulent now, and the new president has not been in office for long. Various political forces are still vying with each other, and it is impossible for the opposition not to take the opportunity to cause trouble.”

“Oh.” Shu Lin was not interested in politics and responded perfunctorily, his eyes fixed on the television screen.

The Alpha in the picture was being interviewed, his voice low and powerful, carrying an unquestionable authority:

“I assure all citizens that I will thoroughly investigate this matter and will never tolerate any acts that endanger national security and the lives of the people…”

Whether it was an illusion or not, Shu Lin felt that the Alpha’s gaze seemed to penetrate the screen and look directly at him.

He subconsciously touched the back of his neck, which was a little hot.

How strange, his heat had just passed not long ago, his glands shouldn’t be so sensitive, right?

“Little Lin?” Shu Lingxiao’s voice pulled him back to reality, “What’s wrong? Why is your face so red?”

“Ah? No, nothing.” Shu Lin hurriedly lowered his head, “Maybe it’s too hot in the ward.”

Shu Jingcheng and Shu Lingxiao exchanged glances and saw the worry in each other’s eyes.

As a rare US-Class Omega, Shu Lin’s pheromones were too special, and once exposed, the consequences would be unimaginable.

They had to be more careful.

“Little Lin, it’s getting late, you should go back first.” Shu Jingcheng said gently, “It’s fine with your sister here.”

    “But…”

“Be good.” Shu Lingxiao patted her younger brother’s shoulder, “It’s not safe to go home too late, and you have classes tomorrow, go quickly.”

Shu Lin knew what his father and sister were worried about.

Ever since he differentiated into a US-Class Omega at the age of fifteen, Shu Jingcheng and Shu Lingxiao had been worried about his safety.

They immediately applied for a virtual identity for him according to the law.

To the outside world, official identity information showed that he was just an ordinary B-Class Omega.

This was to protect him, and it was also the secret of the entire Shu family.

Therefore, once it came to his affairs, the family always prioritized his safety and never let him go out too late.

It was almost eight o’clock in the evening now, and he had to go back.

“Alright then.” Shu Lin obediently got up, “Dad, rest well, I’ll come see you again tomorrow after class.”

“Go, be careful on the road, send us a message when you get home, and remember to wear your hat and mask.”

    “Got it.”

Every time he went out, Shu Jingcheng would tirelessly tell him to wear a hat and mask, Shu Lin’s ears were almost calloused from hearing it.

It was all his face’s fault, it was really too attractive.

Walking out of the ward, as he passed through the lobby on the first floor, Shu Lin saw that the large display screen was still playing news about the chemical plant explosion, and Shao Chengxi’s figure appeared in the camera from time to time.

The people in the lobby were discussing it.

“Are the opposition crazy? That’s a chemical plant, what if there’s a toxic gas leak…”

“Fortunately, Minister Shao responded quickly. My son is in the fire brigade and said that Minister Shao immediately dispatched the chemical defense force.”

Shu Lin’s pace unconsciously slowed down.

“But it’s not surprising, only he can mobilize the forces and heavy emergency equipment. As long as he gives the order, who can’t he save?”

    “He’s really handsome!”

“He’s an S-Class Alpha, of course he’s handsome, but his strength isn’t just his face, the key is that he’s capable.”

“I heard that he used to be in the special forces. That’s why he’s so experienced in dealing with emergencies.”

“That’s right. If he hadn’t decisively evacuated the people around the factory, the casualties would have been even greater. In the current situation, we need such a decisive leader.”

Hearing this, Shu Lin looked up at the display screen again.

Shao Chengxi’s military uniform under his black trench coat was still crisp, and his eyes were deep and unpredictable…

“The opposition is so rampant, will things get even more chaotic in the future? Do you think they will target the hospital?”

“Knock on wood, don’t talk nonsense! With Minister Shao around, they won’t be able to stir up any trouble. Didn’t you see the news? He has already ordered to strengthen security throughout the city.”

Shu Lin walked through the lobby, put on his hat and mask, walked out of the hospital, and hailed a taxi.

He got into the taxi, reported the address, and the car started.

The driver was a middle-aged Beta who was listening to the news on the radio.

“Vice Minister Shao Chengxi said that several important strongholds of the opposition have been locked…”

Shu Lin leaned back in his seat, rolled down the car window, and let the night wind blow into the car.

It was already late autumn, and the temperature dropped at night, and the cold wind was a little uncomfortable.

Just as he was about to roll up the car window, a deafening explosion suddenly came from behind.

Shu Lin turned his head sharply and saw a huge fireball rising in the direction of the hospital, with thick smoke billowing up.

His pupils suddenly contracted, and his heart almost stopped beating.

    “Dad! Sis!”
