    Chapter 71: Was Dinner Delicious?

Li Lingyu had been in a terrible mood lately, constantly frowning and feeling down.

The reason was simple: ever since Ji Tiantian had started delivering documents, things had gotten a little out of control. This quirky little girl seized every opportunity to pester Jiang Xianchuan with endless chatter, and every time she opened her mouth, she’d call him “handsome big brother” in a delicate, sweet voice that made your bones melt.

Sure enough, Ji Tiantian arrived with a stack of documents as usual, placing and organizing them gently and carefully, muttering, “Handsome big brother, this one is from Shi Yi jie; and these are the latest zombie research results from Lin Pianyue jie.” She looked up, blinked her watery eyes, and gazed at Jiang Xianchuan expectantly.

Meanwhile, Li Lingyu, standing to the side, stared daggers at Ji Tiantian with an extremely displeased expression. Unfortunately, Jiang Xianchuan, filled with joy, didn’t notice Li Lingyu’s unusual mood.

“Handsome big brother, can I have dinner with you tonight? Shi Yi jie gave me some fresh vegetables; I really want to cook you a delicious meal!” Ji Tiantian said, clasping her hands together in front of her chest, looking pitiful.

Jiang Xianchuan pondered for a moment and nodded with a smile, “Okay!” Hearing this, Li Lingyu was so angry he almost jumped, because Jiang Xianchuan always had dinner with him before.

Night quietly fell. Jiang Xianchuan finished a busy day’s work, enjoyed a hearty dinner, and leisurely walked home.

As he stepped through the door, he noticed the warm light in the kitchen, where a familiar figure was busy at work.

The corners of Jiang Xianchuan’s mouth lifted slightly. He lightened his footsteps, sneaking up behind Li Lingyu like a nimble cat.

He carefully tiptoed, reached out, gently covered Li Lingyu’s eyes, deliberately lowered his voice, and asked playfully, “Guess who I am?”

To Jiang Xianchuan’s surprise, Li Lingyu didn’t seem to be stumped by his little trick. Without even turning his head, Li Lingyu said helplessly, “Stop it, Chuan Chuan.”

Jiang Xianchuan couldn’t help but reveal a hint of disappointment. He slowly lowered his hands, blinked his big eyes at Li Lingyu, and muttered, “Aww, you guessed it so quickly.”

Then, Jiang Xianchuan turned his gaze to the cutting board, and was surprised to see a pile of bones and minced meat, chopped into incredibly small pieces. He blinked curiously and asked, puzzled, “Yu Bao, what are you doing? Why did you chop all the ingredients so finely?”

Li Lingyu stopped what he was doing, put down the knife, turned around, and stared intently at Jiang Xianchuan with a hint of dissatisfaction in his voice, “Did you think tonight’s dinner was delicious?” Jiang Xianchuan was taken aback, and then nodded vigorously, “Delicious! Especially the sweet and sour cabbage that Tiantian stir-fried, the taste was simply amazing!”

Hearing Jiang Xianchuan’s answer, the anger in Li Lingyu’s heart instantly soared. He was so angry that his chest heaved because the person in front of him completely failed to understand the true meaning of his words. Li Lingyu bit his lip, thinking resentfully: Is this guy really hopeless?

Just then, Jiang Xianchuan seemed to suddenly come to his senses, muttering to himself thoughtfully, “Ah, but come to think of it, it’s more enjoyable eating with you.”

Looking at Jiang Xianchuan’s dazed expression, Li Lingyu felt as if his anger had been directed at a soft cotton ball, with no force at all, and he didn’t know how to respond.

“You’re just taking advantage of my feelings for you…” Li Lingyu said angrily, but before he could finish, Jiang Xianchuan interrupted, “Don’t say that, Yu Bao. Let’s take a bath together. I’m exhausted today, I want to go to bed early.” Saying that, Jiang Xianchuan grabbed Li Lingyu’s hand and strode towards the bathroom.

As soon as he entered the bathroom, Jiang Xianchuan effortlessly began to undress, his movements practiced and natural. He neatly folded his clothes to the side, then gently turned on the hot water tap. Soon, the entire bathroom was filled with steam.

Li Lingyu, standing to the side, seemed uneasy. He turned his head slightly, not daring to look directly at Jiang Xianchuan’s naked body. At this moment, he felt like his heart was about to jump out of his throat, beating wildly.

Jiang Xianchuan noticed Li Lingyu’s strangeness, turned around, and asked curiously, “Why aren’t you moving?” Hearing this, Li Lingyu had to look at Jiang Xianchuan again. This time, his gaze was instantly drawn to Jiang Xianchuan’s slender waist. Jiang Xianchuan’s waistline was soft and smooth, as if it could be broken with a single grip.

For some reason, Li Lingyu suddenly felt his face burning and quickly looked away, stammering, “Um… I want to shower later, I’ll go out first.” Before he finished speaking, he fled the bathroom like a startled rabbit.

Left alone, Jiang Xianchuan watched Li Lingyu’s retreating figure and muttered to himself, “What’s wrong with this guy?”

However, Jiang Xianchuan chose not to delve into the reason. He calmly finished his shower.

When he stepped out of the bathroom, his gaze naturally fell on Li Lingyu on the balcony, who was blushing. The corners of Jiang Xianchuan’s mouth lifted slightly as he softly said, “Yu Bao, I’m done washing, it’s your turn.”

Hearing this, Li Lingyu softly replied, “Mm.” Then, he slowly raised his head and met Jiang Xianchuan’s gaze.

In that instant, it felt as if an electric current passed between them, making Li Lingyu’s already flushed cheeks even redder, like a ripe apple, and the temperature on his face seemed to rise several degrees again with this brief eye contact.

After a brief pause, Li Lingyu took a deep breath, trying to calm the turmoil in his heart, and then turned and walked towards the bathroom.

As soon as he entered the bathroom, he couldn’t wait to turn on the cold water tap, putting his hands under the stream of water, feeling the coolness.

Then, he cupped his hands and splashed water on his face, trying to reduce the burning sensation, the cool droplets splashing on his skin, bringing a refreshing coolness that finally calmed his restless heart.
