RTIWTLITEOTW Chapter 30
by VolareChapter 30: Because You’re Good-Looking
Around midnight, moonlight streamed down like water, casting a tranquil glow on the earth.
Inside the tent, Jiang Xianchuan awoke from his slumber and quietly lifted the tent flap to step outside. He immediately noticed Li Lingyu sitting under the lamplight, engrossed in a book.
Jiang Xianchuan walked over to Li Lingyu, gently patted his shoulder, and softly said, “Go get some rest; I’ll take the night watch.” However, Li Lingyu shook his head, replying, “I’m not tired. Let me sit with you for a while.”
Jiang Xianchuan looked into Li Lingyu’s eyes and nodded, then sat down opposite him. He propped his chin up with his hands, quietly gazing at Li Lingyu as if appreciating a work of art.
Feeling Jiang Xianchuan’s intense gaze, Li Lingyu couldn’t help but feel a little uncomfortable. He looked up and asked in confusion, “Why are you staring at me?”
Jiang Xianchuan’s lips curved into a slight smile, revealing a captivating grin as he said gently, “Because you’re good-looking.” Hearing this, a blush crept onto Li Lingyu’s face, and he shyly lowered his head.
“So easily embarrassed? You’re no fun,” Jiang Xianchuan said, a teasing smile playing on his lips. He scooted closer to Li Lingyu, his eyes gleaming with curiosity and a desire to explore.
Li Lingyu frowned slightly, feeling a little uneasy, and tried to avoid Jiang Xianchuan’s overly intense gaze. However, when he looked up, he saw Jiang Xianchuan staring intently at him.
Jiang Xianchuan’s eyes were bright and sharp, as if capable of seeing into one’s soul. He scrutinized Li Lingyu’s face, from his eyebrows to his eyes to his lips, not missing a single detail.
Even though he knew the other was a man, that delicate face evoked an inexplicable attraction in him.
Under Jiang Xianchuan’s gaze, Li Lingyu’s heart began to beat faster. He had never imagined being observed so closely by another man, and a strange feeling welled up within him. This feeling was both unfamiliar and familiar, leaving him unsure of how to react.
Jiang Xianchuan didn’t seem to notice Li Lingyu’s discomfort and continued to admire his features with great interest.
He said softly, “You’re really good-looking. How about being my little darling wife?” These words made Li Lingyu’s face flush instantly, and he subconsciously lowered his head, trying to hide his shyness.
Seeing that he’d teased him enough, Jiang Xianchuan decided to quit while he was ahead. Li Lingyu looked at Jiang Xianchuan and asked a question he had been curious about for a long time: “Why did you choose to bring me back with you in the first place?”
Jiang Xianchuan pretended to think for a moment, “Hmm… Because you’re good-looking.”
Upon hearing this, Li Lingyu was speechless, but he couldn’t help but ask, “Am I still good-looking now?”
Jiang Xianchuan replied with a smile, “Of course you’re good-looking. You’re always good-looking, no matter when.”
Li Lingyu listened to these words, maintaining an indifferent facade as he said, “Oh.”
“Then do you think I’m good-looking?” Jiang Xianchuan’s eyes held a hint of anticipation and curiosity as he quietly looked at Li Lingyu, awaiting his reply.
Li Lingyu raised his head, his gaze meeting Jiang Xianchuan’s. Even though the young man before him was a man, he possessed a face that was distinctly feminine.
Jiang Xianchuan’s facial features were soft, his skin fair and delicate, as warm and smooth as mutton-fat jade. His eyes were like deep lakes, clear and bright, as if capable of seeing through people’s hearts. His lips were red and full, and the slight upturn of his mouth revealed a hint of a smile, giving off a warm and approachable feeling.
Such a face, if placed on a woman, would surely be one that could topple kingdoms and cities.
So Li Lingyu replied, “Yes, good-looking.” But he didn’t even notice that his heartbeat had quickened a little as he spoke, as if a little deer was running wild in his heart.
His gaze involuntarily fell on the other’s face, looking at those delicate features and captivating smile, and an indescribable feeling welled up within him. This feeling left him somewhat at a loss, yet he was unable to resist it.
