Chapter 71 The Mermaid Comes Ashore

The two left under Song Qiuyi’s displeased gaze. The door closed, leaving one person and one mermaid in the sealed space, with only the sound of water in the tank.

Song Qiuyi watched the mermaid swimming inside the tank again, then placed his palm against the top of the tank. His voice was low, “Do you like those two people just now?”

Yan Ye flicked his tail unhurriedly, his throat still not emitting a sound.

From the moment he was captured until now, he hadn’t spoken, so Song Qiuyi didn’t know that this mermaid could speak and that their languages were the same.

Song Qiuyi didn’t care that he might not understand completely, and continued, “They have blonde hair and blue eyes. Don’t you think they are out of place with you? Look, I am just like you. We have the same skin color, eyes, and hair. You should like me.”

Yan Ye’s eyes widened at his words, because he felt that the male supporting character at this moment was acting like a human trafficker, trying to deceive him as if he were a three-year-old child.

Speechless, Yan Ye swam over. Under Song Qiuyi’s expectant gaze, he swept with his tail.

With a few cracking sounds, cracks appeared in the glass.

Yan Ye couldn’t help but feel troubled; he was careless and didn’t control his strength well.

Song Qiuyi’s eyes cleared up the next second. His eyes narrowed slightly, and he began to examine his tail. He put his thumb and index finger on his chin, thought for a moment, and his eyes lit up.

Yan Ye only felt a cold gust of wind pass by, and his intuition told him something bad was about to happen.

Sure enough, the next second, a medicinal liquid was dropped into his water tank. Before he could react, the medicine took effect.

Since the mermaid’s tail was so powerful, he would inject it with a medicine to weaken its strength, which would last until they returned to the research institute. This way, he wouldn’t have to worry about the mermaid smashing the water tank with its tail and escaping.

Draining the water from the tank, Song Qiuyi climbed inside. He quickly drew the medicine into a syringe and aimed to inject the mermaid’s tail with speed and precision, but the needle broke. The mermaid’s scales were not as thin and fragile as they appeared on the outside.

Unable to proceed, Song Qiuyi worried that the mermaid would wake up and didn’t dare to study the scales. He had to choose a different place to inject.

To weaken the mermaid’s tail, he could only inject the lower half of its body.

Song Qiuyi traced the mermaid’s tail little by little upwards, searching for a soft spot. Finally, his hand stopped at the area above the mermaid’s tail, a middle position, where the scales were soft and different from the others.

Never mind, when Song Qiuyi raised his hand intending to inject, his wrist was grabbed by a hand covered in black fish scales.

Yan Ye found it hard not to be angry. If the medicine’s effect had been a second later, Song Qiuyi would have injected a needle into a man’s most vulnerable spot.

Thinking about it, he couldn’t help but laugh in anger, the corners of his mouth unconsciously pursed into a straight line. His voice was as cold as seawater, “This is too much!”

Song Qiuyi was originally startled by the mermaid’s sudden awakening, but upon hearing the mermaid’s voice, his surprise outweighed his fear.

It turned out the mermaid spoke the same language as his hometown, which was unbelievable.

“You actually know the language of my hometown?” Song Qiuyi’s voice trembled slightly.

Yan Ye smiled slightly, “Not only do I know the language of your hometown, I can also hear you seriously trying to fool people.”

No matter how thick-skinned Song Qiuyi was, he felt a bit uncomfortable, but he quickly reacted to the current situation, “Let go of me.”

Yan Ye said indifferently, “I haven’t even asked you to let go of me, yet you want me to let go of you.”

Song Qiuyi didn’t know how strong a mermaid’s attack power was, but the mermaid’s tail… Song Qiuyi felt its attack power was very strong!

Song Qiuyi calmed down, “There is no water in the tank now. If you don’t let go of me, who will inject water into the tank for you? Do you want to die?”

“Not yet, but if I let go of you, what if you use messy things to inject me again?” Yan Ye smiled faintly. Although he was holding Song Qiuyi’s wrist, he wasn’t using force.

“You let go of me first, and I won’t inject you again,” Song Qiuyi compromised.

Little did he know that his trustworthiness in Yan Ye’s heart was not high; this was a madman obsessed with studying mermaids.

Yan Ye didn’t trust him, but at this moment, he had other plans. To prevent the female lead from coming ashore, he decided to go ashore with Song Qiuyi himself. As for the research institute, it would depend on what kind of research Song Qiuyi intended to conduct on him!

“I can let you out, and I can leave the ocean with you, but you must promise me one condition,” Yan Ye said with a light chuckle.

Song Qiuyi’s psychological resilience was stronger than ordinary people’s. He calmly asked in return, “What condition?”

Yan Ye admired this point about him. “There is another mermaid in this sea area…” Before he could finish speaking, he already saw Song Qiuyi’s expression which confirmed his suspicions.

When he captured this mermaid, Song Qiuyi had already suspected that there was another one in the deep sea. And the one they caught now was very likely captured because it tried to save the other.

“You are not allowed to catch her, otherwise, you won’t even be able to take one mermaid back,” this was Yan Ye’s warning to Song Qiuyi. Human greed shouldn’t be too great, or you will get nothing.

Song Qiuyi’s heart was calm and he didn’t struggle much with these words. For some reason, he felt that catching this mermaid in front of him was like catching everything, and other mermaids no longer interested him in the slightest. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have turned back immediately.

Song Qiuyi readily agreed. Yan Ye asked him for some things, “Do you have any books related to mermaids on your ship?”

Song Qiuyi looked at him strangely, “What do you want books for?”

He did have books about mermaids, quite a few. These were all bought to understand and capture mermaids.

Although most were fictional, Song Qiuyi had a lot of money, and he bought everything related to mermaids. Fortunately, their ship was large enough to store those books.

Once a merman leaves the water, their skin becomes uncomfortable. Since Song Qiuyi agreed, Yan Ye let go of him, “Inject water into the tank first.”

Song Qiuyi raised his eyelids, carefully observing if there were any abnormalities on his body due to lack of water.

“Stop looking, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to look in the future,” Yan Ye said lazily.

Song Qiuyi indeed withdrew his gaze, climbed out of the water tank, and started injecting water into the tank with a hose.

When the tank was full, he thought about the books the mermaid had mentioned. He went out again, and when he returned, he had a stack of books in his hand.

Song Qiuyi placed the books in front of the water tank, raised his eyes to look at the mermaid in the tank, and was very curious what he wanted these for.

The books Song Qiuyi brought were all related to mermaids. Yan Ye scanned them at a glance and found none of the books he wanted. He shook his head, “Are there any others?”

Song Qiuyi went out again. This time he brought even more books than before. When he took them one by one and asked Yan Ye, he asked about seven or eight books before finally seeing Yan Ye nod.

Song Qiuyi lowered his head, curious which one Yan Ye had chosen. The four big words “The Little Mermaid” made Song Qiuyi repeat the motion of looking up and then down several times.

He wondered if the mermaid had chosen the wrong book or if he had misheard?
