QWAPMP Chapter 63
by VolareChapter 63: President Male Supporting Character
The barbecue finished around eleven o’clock in the evening. Everyone cleaned up and returned to their rooms, while Yang Fan and Xie Jifeng, who had left the courtyard earlier, were already in their room.
Yan Ye pushed open the door and saw the two of them chatting happily. Yang Fan still had a smile on his face when he saw him, but when he saw Song Yang, his smile vanished, his expression became cold, a stark contrast to how he was before.
Xie Jifeng blocked Song Yang’s gaze towards him. The three of them didn’t speak, and the atmosphere was worse than last night.
Fortunately, Song Yang couldn’t stand the smell of barbecue and went to take a shower, which made Yang Fan relax a bit, a smile returning to his face.
Seeing this, Xie Jifeng patted his shoulder, “Don’t be so nervous. With me here, he won’t eat you.”
After spending these past few days together, even though he knew Xie Jifeng might have a slight crush on him, Yang Fan still said thank you shyly.
Yan Ye leaned against the bathroom door waiting to shower, capturing this scene in the darkness, the corner of his lips slightly curved upwards.
With the power out, there was naturally no hot water to shower with. Song Yang came out feeling cold after his shower, holding a large towel to dry his hair. As he passed by Yan Ye, the movement of his hand paused, and he warned, “You’re not allowed to sleep on the bed with that barbecue smell on you.”
Yan Ye ignored him and went straight into the bathroom, which angered Song Yang, who made a mental note to trouble him again when they returned to the company.
Seeing that President Song had finished drying his hair and was half-reclining on the bed without saying anything or looking for him, Yang Fan quietly shrank his head into the blanket, his palm suddenly feeling warm. Five fingers intertwined tightly with his hand. This time, not only were his hands warm, but Yang Fan felt his cheeks burning, as if he was getting a fever.
Yan Ye came out after showering. As soon as he got close to the bed, Song Yang, who was half-reclining and playing on his phone, leaned towards him.
“Let me smell. If you didn’t wash clean, you can’t sleep on the bed tonight.” He didn’t want to sleep with someone who smelled like barbecue.
The person who didn’t feel there was anything wrong with his words actually sniffed Yan Ye twice, confirming there was no other smell. Song Yang then lay back down, raising his chin arrogantly, as if granting a favor by giving up half the bed.
Although the room was dark, Yan Ye could see someone’s ears turning red in the bright moonlight.
Just now, they were too close. Song Yang accidentally brushed his nose against a cold patch of skin, which also carried a pleasant scent of jasmine tea.
They showered in the same bathroom and used the same brand of shower gel, so why did this person smell so good?
Song Yang’s eyes uncontrollably looked at him, his ears redder than before.
A knock came from outside the door, “Sorry to bother you.”
Yan Ye withdrew his teasing gaze from a certain person’s ears, walked over, and opened the door.
When the door opened, he saw a staff member looking nervous, “Brother Yan, sorry to bother you so late, have you seen Sister He Lin?”
Yan Ye said no and looked back at the people inside.
Xie Jifeng and Yang Fan both heard the staff member’s voice and sat up, “No.”
Xie Jifeng was a man of few words, just two simple words, while Yang Fan asked an extra question, “What’s wrong?”
The staff member looked nervous, “Sister He Lin is missing.”
After the barbecue tonight, everyone had initially returned to their rooms. When the director went to take a shower, he found there was no cold water. He asked the staff member in the same room to tell He Lin, fearing she might catch a cold if she took a cold shower later. After all, women’s physical condition was not as good as theirs, a group of men, and it would be troublesome if she got sick.
The staff member went to knock on He Lin’s door, knocking several times without getting an answer. After he returned and told the director, the director called He Lin and found that he couldn’t get through. So the director and staff member returned to He Lin’s room, twisted the doorknob, and it opened. The door wasn’t locked, and the person wasn’t inside at all.
That’s why they came to ask in Yan Ye’s room.
Staff members had also been sent to ask in the other two rooms.
Not long after, the other two staff members also came back saying the guests hadn’t seen He Lin.
At this, everyone’s expression in the room instantly became solemn.
“Let’s split up and go look,” Yan Ye said, breaking the heavy atmosphere.
The director agreed without hesitation, “Okay, if you find someone, call and let us know.”
The director took a few staff members and left first. Just as Yan Ye was about to leave, he heard footsteps from the staircase upstairs.
Song Yang looked down at the person preparing to go out from above, “I’ll go too.”
Yan Ye’s steps paused. He said to Huo Sang and the others, “You guys go look first, I’ll wait for President Song.”
“Alright then, if we find He Lin, we’ll call you. Likewise, if you find her later, Brother Yan, give us a call too.”
Although none of them liked He Lin, there was no deep hatred, and everyone genuinely worried that something might have happened to her.
Qin Yan took Huo Sang and five others, using their phone flashlights to walk outside first.
Seeing that Yan Ye really stayed to wait for him, Song Yang’s lips gradually curved into a smile. He turned around and went upstairs to change clothes before coming down.
Finding someone in the middle of the night was not easy, especially on a sparsely populated deserted island.
Everyone shouted He Lin’s name at the top of their lungs, the only response being the roar of the waves. It was late, and the wind had picked up. Everyone shouted until their throats felt like they were smoking, but still heard no response from He Lin.
Yan Ye and Song Yang, who arrived later, followed the sounds and gathered with everyone. Before Yan Ye could ask if they had found anyone, Huo Sang had already shaken his head, “What should we do? We still haven’t found He Lin.”
His voice had a slight tremor that he didn’t even notice.
Song Yang frowned, puzzled as to why He Lin would suddenly disappear.
“Let’s keep looking. President Song and I will go check the coconut grove,” Yan Ye said calmly, holding the phone he borrowed from Song Yang as a flashlight.
Song Yang followed closely behind him, his thin lips pressed together. After entering the coconut grove, his steps slowed, “Didn’t He Lin sit next to Xiao Wen the whole time during the barbecue?”
Yan Ye shined the flashlight around the area, “What do you mean?”
Confirming there was no one else, he turned around, startling the preoccupied Song Yang, who again stepped back.
Song Yang steadied his breathing, his eyes widened in displeasure at him suddenly startling him, then he said, “Why don’t we go ask Xiao Wen? He should be the last person who was with He Lin.”
During the barbecue, Yan Ye hadn’t paid attention to He Lin and didn’t know that the last person in contact with her was Xiao Wen.
With Song Yang’s reminder, Yan Ye turned his direction, smiling at Song Yang, “Thank you for the reminder, President Song.”
President Song gave an arrogant hum, then followed closely behind Yan Ye.
He didn’t know if it was his imagination, but he always felt that the sea breeze tonight was particularly cold and bone-chilling, and the waves were getting higher and higher, threatening to swallow people.
Several beams of light converged, indicating that the director and the others had also found their way here.
Yan Ye was the last to arrive. The director placed his last hope on him, “How is it, did you find her?”
“No, Director,” Yan Ye shook his head, looking at the person standing at the outermost edge of the surrounding circle, his eyes slightly narrowed, “Xiao Wen, weren’t you the last one with He Lin?”
Without cameras, Yan Ye wasn’t maintaining the original character’s persona at this moment. Everyone’s thoughts were on the missing He Lin, so they didn’t notice anything unusual about Yan Ye’s address.
Only one person did, and that was Xiao Wen. When he heard Yan Ye pointing the question at him, his eyes showed a moment of panic, “Yes, I was with her, but then I got tired and went back to my room to rest first. Wasn’t He Lin still at the barbecue with everyone then?”
Xiao Wen forced himself to calm down, comforting himself internally that with the power out tonight, and no cameramen following them, no one would find anything.
Yan Ye saw the panic in his eyes and clearly didn’t believe Xiao Wen’s explanation, but there was no evidence right now, so he couldn’t directly say He Lin’s disappearance was related to him.
The director saw everyone else was silent and felt anxious, yelling, “Don’t just stand here! Split up and keep looking!”
If something really happened to a guest during the show, then his show would be ruined.
Hearing this, everyone looked at each other and continued to search separately.
Just as Xiao Wen turned to leave and also search, Yan Ye’s indifferent voice sounded from behind him, “Every wrong has its source, every debt its owner.”
Xiao Wen’s steps paused for a second. When he lifted his feet to walk again, he quickened his pace, as if something was chasing him.
Song Yang quietly approached Yan Ye, staying very close to him, and asked in a low voice, “Are you trying to scare him?”
Yan Ye responded coldly to his question, his eyes reflecting a dark undercurrent, “No.”
On Half Moon Island, the ghostly energy of another deceased soul had been added. She slowly floated up from the sea, her ghostly energy unstable, her form flickering in and out of visibility, heading directly in the direction Xiao Wen had just left.
Song Yang merely glanced towards the sea following Yan Ye’s direction. When he withdrew his gaze, his pupils suddenly constricted. Immediately after, his fingers slowly gripped the sleeve of the person next to him, “Let’s go look somewhere else.”
This place was too strange. Why were there traces of water on the dry sand? And the traces were intermittent, like someone carrying water had passed by them. They weren’t there just now.
Yan Ye also saw it. Something had indeed passed by, but it wasn’t human.
The person was already dead, and searching further was useless. Yan Ye said lightly, “Let’s go.”
The two returned to the villa. Half an hour later, everyone returned one after another. The director’s face was grim, the situation was clearly becoming serious. Everyone realized this and didn’t dare to say anything other than they hadn’t found anyone.
Song Yang had originally been occupying a sofa by himself. Seeing Xiao Wen come in, his eyes casually lifted. The next second, his expression turned to fear, and his body subconsciously moved towards where Yan Ye was sitting, squeezing onto the single sofa with him, his hands and feet pressed tightly together.
“Go sit somewhere else,” Yan Ye said, mainly because it was too crowded.
Song Yang turned his head and said in a low voice, “No, this is my territory. I’ll sit wherever I want.”
Hearing him being unreasonable, Yan Ye wanted to change positions and give this spot to him, but the hem of his clothes was tightly gripped by a pair of fingers, “Don’t go.”
Indeed, the person who was about to get up stopped moving the next second.
The only thing that could make Song Yang so afraid was ghosts.
In the clean living room, a puddle of water had appeared at Xiao Wen’s feet, who was standing at the very edge of the circle. This wasn’t happening to anyone else, only him. However, everyone’s attention was on He Lin, and they didn’t notice this.
Song Yang was especially clingy tonight. Even when he went back to the room to sleep, his hand was still holding onto Yan Ye’s clothes, afraid that this person might run away.
