Chapter 49: Werewolf Male Supporting Character’s Twin Brother

A hint of loss flashed across Song Muhan’s expression. He looked at the figure walking away and said softly, “Brother.”

Song Xi’s steps paused slightly. He looked up and saw Yan Ye come out, forcing a smile as if he hadn’t heard anything.

“Why aren’t you resting longer at home?” Yan Ye asked in a low voice, his gaze fixed on the young man’s face in front of him, seemingly not noticing Song Muhan standing not far away.

Song Xi moved closer to him, standing side by side. “It’s boring at home. I wanted to see you.”

Their conversation wasn’t deliberately lowered in volume, and the intimate dialogue made it difficult for people not to wonder about their relationship.

Song Muhan wanted to open his mouth to ask, but Yan Ye had already led Song Xi into the elevator reserved for executives.

The moment the elevator doors closed, Song Muhan’s complicated gaze met Yan Ye’s. After just one second of eye contact, Song Muhan’s steps suddenly surged forward. He raised his hand, wanting to press the stop button on the elevator. “Wait…”

The elevator doors closed, and the floor number dropped. Song Muhan retracted his hand that was suspended in mid-air, clenched his fingers into fists, and turned to run towards another elevator.

Song Muhan quickly pressed the elevator buttons, afraid he wouldn’t be able to catch up with the two people who had already taken the elevator.

His brother didn’t know what kind of person Yan Ye was, so how could they have ended up together?

    And even go home together?

Damn it, Song Muhan thought of how the business circle’s bosses evaluated Yan Ye: this person was deeply calculating, with tough methods, and though young, he was not to be underestimated.

Thinking of all this, Song Muhan worried if his older brother had been deceived by Yan Ye.

The elevator reached the first floor of the company. Song Muhan stepped out with long strides, looking left and right. His gaze finally fixed on a Rolls-Royce outside the company. The car window slowly lowered, revealing a cold, handsome profile.

It was too late for Song Muhan to chase after them. Yan Ye, sitting in the car, didn’t give him this opportunity.

Yan Ye told the driver to drive directly home. Halfway there, Song Xi suddenly said he wanted to eat hotpot, so the two went to a fresh food supermarket.

Song Xi pushed the shopping cart ahead, picked up a box of beef rolls to look at, and casually brought up Song Muhan.

“What was Song Muhan doing at your company today?”

Could it be that the Song family had a collaboration with Yan Ye’s company?

Yan Ye walked beside him, leaning slightly to look at the item in his hand. His voice was unhurried. “He came looking for you! This seems good for hotpot, let’s get it too!”

The item in Song Xi’s hand was taken by Yan Ye and placed in the shopping cart. He paused in surprise, nodded, and continued towards the hotpot ingredients section.

After a moment, as if he had just realized something, he hesitated and asked, “Looking for me? What for?”

As soon as he finished speaking, Song Xi immediately thought of what Song Muhan had said not long ago.

He was getting married! Could it be because of this that he came looking for him?

“He saw you just now, didn’t he say?” Yan Ye asked with a light chuckle, putting a box of raw beef balls into the shopping cart.

Song Xi glanced into the shopping cart. “He did.” He secretly lifted his eyelids. “He said he was holding a wedding and wanted me to attend.”

Song Xi felt a strange sense of guilt. He still remembered what he had said to Mengzhou at the engagement banquet back then.

Thinking back on it now, Song Xi only felt that his brain was messed up and he was possessed by something at the time.

The wedding between the Meng and Song families was definitely going to be a grand affair. Preparations were already underway, and invitations were being designed before it even began.

Coincidentally, a few days ago, the secretary’s office had already received an invitation card from the Meng family.

“Do you want to go?” Yan Ye’s tone showed no change, as if he didn’t know that one of the main characters of the wedding was the person Song Xi had wanted to be with before.

Song Xi shook his head vigorously. He had no interest in Song Muhan’s wedding and didn’t really want to see Mengzhou. What if Yan Ye remembered that he had tried to drug Mengzhou before!

Yan Ye wasn’t very concerned about Mengzhou. In his view, as long as the task wasn’t messed up, Mengzhou and Song Muhan were bound together.

“Since you don’t want to go, then don’t go. Rest at home these few days. If you’re bored, you can come to the company to find me.”

Song Xi softly agreed. He was relieved that Yan Ye hadn’t mentioned Mengzhou just now, otherwise he would have been mortified.

The two of them browsed the supermarket for a while longer, bought enough ingredients for two people, and left.

In the evening, the steaming hotpot was served. Song Xi kept saying it was spicy while looking for water to drink. After drinking water, his chopsticks didn’t stop moving, showing how much he enjoyed eating.

During the half a year of filming in the deep mountains, Yan Ye guessed that Song Xi must have suffered a lot during that time. His heart softened, and he blanched many ingredients from the clear soup base and put them on Song Xi’s plate.

Song Xi didn’t refuse, and although he was still eating them, it was clear that he still preferred the spicy ones.

After finishing one glass of water, Yan Ye had already refilled it for him, earning a simple smile from Song Xi.

The next day, Song Xi received a call from his agent. “Xiaoxi, do you know? Our company just signed two new actors.”

It was common for entertainment companies to sign actors. Song Xi took a bite of a steamed bun nonchalantly and said indistinctly, “The company hasn’t gone bankrupt, isn’t it normal to sign actors?”

“Sir, soybean milk.” The nutritionist brought over the soybean milk without any additives. Before he could place it on the table, Yan Ye took it.

Seeing Song Xi holding his phone in one hand and a beef bun in the other, Yan Ye directly handed the soybean milk to him and said to the nutritionist, “You can go back first.”

The nutritionist nodded and left with a smile.

After hearing something on the phone, Song Xi’s eyes suddenly lit up. He put down the bun and looked at Yan Ye excitedly. “Can you give me a ride to the company later? I want to go to Lexing.”

He had to go see those two fair-weather friends from back then.

Yan Ye agreed readily. When he dropped Song Xi off downstairs at Lexing building, he even asked thoughtfully, “Do you need me to take you upstairs?”

Naturally, the content of the phone call just now hadn’t escaped Yan Ye’s ears. He also knew why Song Xi suddenly wanted to come to the company.

Thinking of the two artists he had ordered to be frozen, Yan Ye didn’t feel sorry for them. He even thought coldly, what kind of expression would these two have when they faced Song Xi, knowing why they were frozen?

Chu Hui was not a good person. After being exposed for instigating fans to harm people, for her own sake, she immediately used a similar method to say that she was also instigated by Xu Xuecai and Qu Jinghong to harm Song Xi.

However, the police did not believe her because there was no evidence.

Song Xi’s cheeks felt warm, feeling a bit embarrassed about his little thoughts, and he politely refused Yan Ye’s suggestion.

Through the car window, Yan Ye saw the two people standing and watching, and a smile curled on his lips. “Then shall I pick you up later?”

Song Xi didn’t want to refuse the offer to be picked up, so he nodded, then slowly unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the car door, and got out.

Just as Brother Qiao had said, Song Xi saw Xu Xuecai with a difficult expression and Qu Jinghong with an equally difficult expression as soon as he got out of the car.

The two of them looked in his direction, their eyes scanning the luxury car behind him from top to bottom.

Qiao Xin saw Song Xi coming and immediately walked over, giving him a look.

Song Xi’s lips curved into a smile, his expression showing a sense of satisfaction. When he deliberately brushed past the two of them, he stopped and greeted them. “It’s been a long time, both of you.”

After saying that, he didn’t give them time to react and went directly into the company to take the elevator.

In Qiao Xin’s single office, Song Xi had put on enough pretense. He leaned back on the sofa and said gloatingly, “These two are finally getting what they deserve.”

Back then, when he was being threatened, these two stood by and did nothing. Today, it was his turn to gloat.

Song Xi had already heard from Qiao Xin that after Xu Xuecai and Qu Jinghong jumped ship to Lexing, they hadn’t received any work notices. According to the information Qiao Xin had gathered, someone higher up wanted to blacklist these two.

After Song Xi had laughed enough, Qiao Xin sat up straight, deep in thought. “Could the person higher up be your husband?”

“Cough…” Song Xi almost choked on his own saliva when he heard that address. “No way?”

Why would Yan Ye go to such great lengths to sign these two people just to freeze them?

Qiao Xin narrowed his eyes, feeling that the matter was somehow related to Mr. Yan.

The office door was suddenly knocked. An assistant that Qiao Xin had recently started training walked in and whispered, “Brother Qiao, Brother Song, Miss Xu and Mr. Qu said they want to see you.”

Song Xi and Qiao Xin exchanged glances simultaneously. The former nodded, and Qiao Xin told the assistant to invite them in.

Soon, a woman in high heels and a man in leather shoes appeared at the office door. Qiao Xin told the assistant to go out first.

When Xu Xuecai saw Song Xi, she put on a fake smile. Qu Jinghong held his position in mind and gave a proud nod.

The Werewolf Male Supporting Character movie hadn’t been officially announced yet, so in the eyes of these two, Song Xi was just a minor actor whose status was lower than theirs.

Song Xi was still lounging lazily on the sofa. He glanced at Qu Jinghong, noticed the contempt in his eyes, and didn’t speak. Instead, Qiao Xin spoke first.

“Is there something you need, both of you?” Qiao Xin’s tone was neither warm nor cold. He had also seen Qu Jinghong’s contemptuous look.

He sneered inwardly. A person who was blacklisted, what right did he have to be arrogant in front of their Xiaoxi?

Xu Xuecai quietly pulled Qu Jinghong’s sleeve and put on a fake smile. “Xiaoxi, long time no see. I didn’t expect us to become colleagues.”

She also didn’t expect Song Xi to have found a patron. Xu Xuecai thought to herself, she just didn’t know who that man in the Rolls-Royce was in A City.

Thinking of her current predicament, the envy in Xu Xuecai’s eyes couldn’t be hidden.

Qu Jinghong put away the contempt in his eyes. “Xuecai and I just signed with Lexing. There are many things about the company that we’re not clear about, so we wanted to ask you.”

Song Xi looked up at him. “What do you want to ask?”

“Lexing is backed by the Yan Corporation. Do artists have to fight for resources themselves?” Qu Jinghong’s voice was cold, but his words were impolite, sounding like he was questioning Song Xi.

Hearing him bring up the matter first, Xu Xuecai nodded, echoing his words, her tone a little better than Qu Jinghong’s. “Xiaoxi, you’ve been at Lexing for so long, do you know anything?”

For example, why did Lexing poach them but keep them sidelined?

Last time they both went to the Yan Corporation and finally managed to see General Manager Xia, they didn’t get any answers in the end and were dismissed with a secretary.

It had been half a year since The Rakshasa Decree, and their initial popularity was almost gone. If they didn’t get any more filming opportunities, being forgotten by everyone was only a matter of time.

Song Xi understood this point and saw that the two of them were anxious. He said slowly, “Sister Xu, I’m just a minor actor in the company, what could I possibly know?”

Qiao Xin put on a professional fake smile. “Miss Xu, Mr. Qu, our Xiaoxi is just a small artist in the company, not some high-level executive or gold-medal agent. How could he possibly know these things!”

Seeing Xu Xuecai’s gaze shift towards him, Qiao Xin smiled again. “As for me, I’m just an ordinary agent, so naturally, I wouldn’t know these things either.”

Even if he knew, he wouldn’t tell these two!

Xu Xuecai smiled without reaching her eyes, her voice gentle but full of hidden meaning. “Isn’t Xiaoxi one of the company’s key artists being developed? Do you really not know anything, or do you not want to tell Sister Xu the truth?”

The Baosen endorsement belongs to the Yan Corporation. They said they would give Song Xi the endorsement, and they did. Isn’t that enough to show he’s a key artist being developed?

Thinking back to when she had taught Song Xi acting tips on The Rakshasa Decree set, Xu Xuecai deliberately put on a pitiful act. “If you really don’t know, just pretend I didn’t ask. I’ve been signed to Lexing for a while now and haven’t received a single work notice. I’m feeling a bit anxious.”

If it were someone soft-hearted, they might have been tricked by Xu Xuecai’s words. Song Xi blinked his eyes, looking innocent. “Sister Xu, don’t be anxious. An excellent actor like you will definitely get roles. Our company doesn’t seem to lack resources. I just finished filming a movie a few days ago.”

Song Xi spoke with sincerity, but the last sentence made the gentle smile on Xu Xuecai’s face disappear.

She didn’t understand why the company ignored excellent artists like her and Qu Jinghong but paid so much attention to Song Xi, who wasn’t very famous.

When Song Xi said that last sentence, Qu Jinghong had already turned away angrily, leaving behind only one sentence. “We’re going to find Kuntai.”

    Kuntai was their current agent.

Watching the two of them leave, Song Xi and Qiao Xin exchanged a knowing smile, then lowered their heads to play on their phones. The phone screen showed a chat interface with a certain someone.

[Author’s note]: I’ve been a bit busy with work lately, sorry everyone ^0^
