Chapter 129 Mamba Sentinel x Snake Guide 16

White clouds drift, the sun shines brightly.

Leaning against a roadside pillar, the young man had a lollipop he’d plundered from the cat System 143 dangling from his mouth, his verdant snake eyes silently watching the military squad.

The young man’s features were stern, his gaze sharp.

Once everyone was assembled, he boarded the squad’s armored vehicle to hunt down aberrant species.

This was his first collaboration with the human military.

It wasn’t out of some bleeding heart, but rather because the aberrant species outside the safe zone were constantly trying to seize territory.

He’d already killed a batch, yet they still didn’t learn.

Naturally, he had to make them understand that the territory he’d claimed wasn’t up for grabs by just anyone.

Slason took Gu Changli’s hand, handing over the weapons and equipment he had requested.

“Use these for now, I’ll get you something better later.”

Gu Changli lowered his head, fiddling with the guns, a distinct curve appearing on his crimson lips.

“Alright, remember to bring me a dagger next time.”

    Slason nodded slightly, “Okay.”

The vehicle rattled its way out of the safe zone, reaching the mission’s destination.

The all-SS-rank squad quickly disembarked, looking warily at the collapsed contaminated zone, plumes of black mist constantly billowing out.

A dense swarm of aberrant species clung to the collapsed area.

They sucked in the black mist like addicts, their bodies rapidly growing, oblivious to the sudden appearance of the human sentinels.

Gu Changli also noticed this bizarre scene.

He stepped past Slason, reaching out to gently touch the black mist with his fingertip, the mist coiling around his finger, as if trying to seduce him.

“Interesting, I’ll go take a look.”

With that, he transformed into a snake and leapt into the giant pit. As he descended, the concentration of black mist gradually increased, but upon landing, there were no aberrant species in sight.

Only inky black mist filled the depths of the earth.

“The root cause of humanity’s entry into the apocalypse is these pollution sources that fell from the sky…”

Humans believed the pollution sources were dead, but the pollution sources themselves were active, and they were catalyzing the aberrant species, allowing them to occupy more human territory and spread the black mist everywhere.

These pollution sources wanted to invade the entire planet.

The aberrant species were blades in their hands, and humanity was the species they most wanted to eliminate.

This led to the fierce battle in the novel.

Humanity and the aberrant species would eventually go to war, but behind the scenes, manipulating everything, were the seemingly harmless black mist pollution sources, wanting to take over the entire planet.

    How greedy and bold!

System 143 curiously asked: [Are you going to collect all these black things?]

Gu Changli raised an eyebrow, “You could say that.”

He transformed into his human form, his palm beginning to absorb the black mist. Before long, the dense black mist transformed into a black crystal, which he took out of the collapsed area.

Slason paced back and forth anxiously until he saw Gu Changli return, finally putting his mind at ease.

“Honey, why didn’t you wait for me!”

He was about to say a few more words when a black crystal was shoved into his mouth, silencing him.

“No nagging, go stand over there!”

After giving the black crystal to Slason, Gu Changli looked at the leader of the squad, “Do you have the specific locations of other pollution sources?”

The SS-rank sentinel captain nodded, “What did you find down there?”

Gu Changli pointed to the black crystal in Slason’s hand and explained, “This is a black crystal condensed from the pollution source, it can inhibit the evolution of aberrant species.”

“Sentinels can also absorb it to increase their rank.”

“So, I need the locations of other pollution sources, these black crystals are rare resources.”

The sentinel captain’s eyes lit up, “I’ll take you there!”

He knew that bringing this person along on the mission, as instructed by the higher-ups, was guaranteed to be a success. Look, it was already paying off, and in a way that benefited humanity.

If pollution sources could really be refined into crystals, and these crystals could enhance sentinel strength, then it would be a good thing for humanity.

Gu Changli pulled Slason into the vehicle, “Let’s go.”

Slason dazedly clutched the black crystal, looking back at his SS-rank sentinel teammates who were clearing out the aberrant species in the collapsed area.

“Hey, shouldn’t we stay and help?”

Gu Changli said softly, “They can handle it. I want to get more black crystals now, and I also want to know how much black mist is hidden in this city.”

Black crystals could help Slason increase his strength, so the more the better. After he searched this city for black mist, he would go somewhere else to continue searching.

SS-rank sentinels were still a bit lacking!

Slason looked down at the black crystal in his hand, curiously absorbing its power.

“It’s definitely useful, just not aesthetically pleasing.”

Gu Changli echoed with a nod, “Yeah, I also think black isn’t very pretty, red is much better, but unfortunately, the pollution source doesn’t have red ones.”

    Sentinel Captain: Isn’t that wrong?

You’re even complaining about the color of the crystals! Having this kind of black crystal is already great!
