Chapter Index

    Fall apart

Song Zhili’s eyes suddenly turned scarlet, and madness wrapped around his reason like a vine. He grabbed the back of my neck with such force that it almost crushed my bones.

“If you want to tear your face apart, then tear it apart completely!” He roared, ignoring my struggle, turning me around, and slammed my back against the door panel. The dull sound coincided with the knocking on the door, and then suddenly broke.

My wrist was held behind my back by him, and sharp pain came from my shoulder blade. My whole body was pressed firmly against the door, unable to move. His chest was close to my back, and the hot temperature burned my skin through the clothes. His breathing was heavy and hot, spraying on my ear, with a suffocating pressure.

“Let your people listen to how you begged for mercy under me.” His voice was hoarse and hoarse, with destructive madness, and he roughly opened the buttons of my shirt with his fingertips.

The banging on the door suddenly stopped, and a deathly silence enveloped the entire apartment, leaving only my rapid breathing and Song Zhili’s heavy breathing.

I can imagine He Pingan’s appearance at this moment. Perhaps he was frozen in place due to the sudden loss of control, or perhaps he couldn’t believe what was happening in front of him. The silence was like a huge stone, making me breathless.

“Song Zhili, let me go!” I struggled with all my strength, my voice trembling with anger and humiliation, “You are crazy! Have you forgotten that you are going to marry Xing Qingru?!”

“Marry her?” He chuckled, his laughter full of ridicule and pain, “If it weren’t for you, would I agree to this marriage? Song Qiusheng, do you think you can escape? From the day you broke into my world, you were destined to be mine!”

His strength became stronger and stronger, and the bones in my wrist were almost crushed by him. My struggle gradually became weak, and my body trembled slightly on the door panel, not because of fear, but because of extreme anger and humiliation.

His lips landed on the side of my neck, biting it with punishing force. The pain made me groan.”Listen,” he pressed my ear, his voice cold and paranoid, “He Ping An can’t save you, no one can save you. You are mine, past, present and future!”

I closed my eyes, and the hot tears fell down uncontrollably, dripping on the door panel and leaving a small wet mark. The crazy man in front of him was completely different from the gentle and tolerant Song Zhili in his memory. How can this entanglement, this love and hate end?

The silence outside the door continued, and I seemed to be drawn into a bottomless abyss, and I could no longer see the light. In the silent corridor, He Ping’an clutched the spare key borrowed from the property management company, his knuckles turning white from the exertion.

The suppressed sound behind the door panel pricked his eardrums like needles. Song Zhili’s roar and Song Qiusheng’s struggle suddenly stopped, leaving only a heart-stopping silence – that silence made him panic more than any sound.

The key was inserted into the lock and made a slight “click” sound when turned, which was particularly clear in the dead silence. He Pingan took a deep breath and pushed open the door——

The sight in front of him made his pupils shrink suddenly: Song Qiusheng was pinned to the door panel, most of the buttons on his shirt fell off, his back was shaking slightly, and there were dazzling red marks on his neck. Song Zhili was biting his ear, one hand scissoring his wrist, and the other holding his waist, with a paranoid and fierce posture.

    “Let go of Mr. Song!”

He Ping’an blurted out an angry roar, turned around almost instinctively, and picked up the heavy celadon vase on the low cabinet in the entrance hall – it was the ornament specially chosen by Song Qiusheng when he first moved in, and now it became his only weapon. He used all his strength to hit Song Zhili hard on the back!

There was a muffled “dong” sound, and the vase shattered. The celadon fragments flew everywhere. Some fell to the ground, and some even scratched the back of He Ping’an’s hand.

Song Zhili was caught off guard and felt a sharp dull pain in his back. The force was so strong that he let go instantly. He staggered back two steps, and when he turned around, there was still madness in his eyes. After he saw He Ping’an, he became even more angry: “You are looking for death!”

Taking advantage of this momentary gap, I suddenly broke free from the restraints, staggered towards He Ping An, raised my hand to hold the back of his bleeding hand, and my voice was hoarse from the struggle just now: “Ping An, don’t be impulsive!”

Song Zhili held his back, and fine drops of blood seeped out between his fingers. He stared at me, his eyes scarlet and scary, like an enraged beast: “Song Qiusheng, did you let an outsider hurt me for him?”

“You were the one who crossed the line first.” I supported He Pingan and stood up straight. The pain in my neck was still spreading, but my eyes were as cold as ice. “Song Zhili, from today on, there is no relationship between us except seniority. If you dare to touch the people around me again, or pester me again, I don’t mind letting everyone in the Song family know the dirty plan behind your marriage!”

He Ping’an clenched his fists and stood in front of me. Although the back of his hands was still bleeding, his eyes were extremely firm: “Mr. Song, as long as I am here, he can’t hurt you!”

Song Zhili looked at us standing side by side, his chest heaving violently, the pain in his back and the suffocation in his heart intertwined, making him almost lose control. He stared at me, as if he wanted to carve my image into his bones. After a long time, he squeezed out a few words through his teeth: “Okay, very good…Song Qiusheng, just wait for me.”

After saying that, he turned around and staggered toward the door. The blood stains on his back smeared through the black casual clothes, which was particularly dazzling. It wasn’t until his figure disappeared into the corridor that the suffocating sense of oppression finally dissipated.

My legs went weak and I almost fell to the ground. He Pingan quickly supported me: “Mr. Song, are you okay? Do you want to go to the hospital?”

I shook my head, looked at the celadon fragments and blood stains on the floor, closed my eyes, and took a deep breath. This farce has finally torn away all pretenses.Song Zhili’s madness, He Ping’an’s protection, and the Xing family’s eager eyes all made this chess game more dangerous.
