    Making Bread

Adam and Felix experienced what could be called love at first sight—or rather, the two males hit it off instantly. On their first day of school, they spent the entire afternoon holed up in the kitchen, researching how to bake fluffy and delicious bread.

Both males unanimously refused to let their Female Monarchs stay by their side and get in the way. Ryan didn’t have the courage to pester Felix, so he could only place his hopes on Admiral Landon.

Admiral Landon was five years older than him and had always been a figure akin to both a mentor and a friend in his eyes. He believed that Admiral Landon would surely be able to stop the two males from doing anything dangerous in the kitchen.

Unfortunately, the grand and imposing Admiral Landon lasted less than a minute under Adam’s gentle offensive.

Ryan watched helplessly as Admiral Landon was completely dazed by the male’s smile. Disoriented, the Admiral walked toward him, and then the kitchen door closed ruthlessly right before Ryan’s pleading eyes.

    Ryan: “…”

    Landon: “…”

Meeting Ryan’s reproachful emerald eyes, Landon guiltily looked away. After hesitating for a long time, he finally whispered a word of comfort: “It’s fine. When we’re at home, my Master often sneaks into the kitchen to cook as well.”

This was a little secret between him and his Master, but judging by Ryan’s reaction, Felix was likely a frequent guest in the kitchen as well.

Since the two of them were still here, it wouldn’t matter even if the males blew up the kitchen. At most, they would receive a punishment from the academy, and that level of discipline was little more than an itch to a female with a powerful constitution.

Landon leaned against the back of the sofa with his arms crossed. His well-developed chest muscles were outlined in a handsome shape, reflecting his own flamboyant personality.

Seeing Ryan’s restless appearance, Landon spoke up hesitantly: “Lord Felix… he is very different from the rumors.”

Ryan lowered his gaze and gave a bitter smile. “Admiral Landon, you want to ask about my wings, don’t you?”

Having been seen through, Landon stopped hiding it and nodded frankly. “Yes.”

He preferred to believe those were just rumors. After all, while Felix didn’t seem as gentle and harmless as his own Master, he didn’t look like he would be as absurdly cruel as other males.

Ryan’s breathing was soft as he shook his head very slightly. “It’s true. My wings… they are gone.”

    Landon’s expression shifted instantly. “What?!”

“It’s true,” Ryan’s breath hitched slightly. If he could, he wanted this to be a lie more than anyone else. “Admiral, I can never go to the battlefield again.”

His deep blue eyes were clouded with mist, like the surface of the sea before a storm. Ryan tried his best to keep his eyes wide, refusing to let the moisture gather and fall, yet even this small thing would not go as he wished.

“This… how is this possible?” Grief and shock weighed heavy on his chest. Landon’s breathing became labored, and he could only manage slow, shallow gasps. “He looks… he doesn’t look like that kind of male at all.”

Felix clearly looked so gentle and treated Ryan quite well.

“It’s just the aftermath of the injury,” Ryan thought of his Master’s various abnormalities over the past few days. He hesitated, but in the end, he didn’t tell Landon. “Maybe in a few days… the Master will change back to his original self.”

Landon was left speechless. Looking at the tear stains on Ryan’s cheeks, a wave of intense guilt rose within him. “Ryan, I’m sorry…”

Back then, Anka Lucas had wanted to take Ryan by force. After Ryan refused him, Lucas actually came up with a plan to force Ryan into resisting and accidentally injuring him, intending to make Ryan his Female Slave under the status of a Sinful Female.

The military department Ryan relied on couldn’t afford to offend the Lucas family for the sake of a valueless Sinful Female. Landon had wanted his Master to help, but Adam’s family had stopped participating in disputes ever since the prince went missing—at least not on the surface.

In the end, he hadn’t even been able to protect his own capable subordinate. He had only been able to use his connections to select a B-rank male for him.

Although the Mental Power level was lower, the authority of a B-rank male was far inferior to that of the Lucas family. He had thought that, at the very least, Ryan wouldn’t be tortured too badly under him. He never expected…

He never expected that Ryan would still have his wings removed!

Landon’s heart ached so much his lips trembled. His gaze lingered on Ryan’s face for a few moments until his throbbing heart finally calmed down, and then he blurted out: “You… you seem to have gained a bit of weight?”

He was surprised. “Is it just my imagination?”

Ryan answered blankly, “…It seems it isn’t.”

He touched his own face, suddenly feeling embarrassed. “The Master’s cooking is too delicious. I… I couldn’t help myself and ate too much.”

When they were at home, Felix was responsible for all three meals. At most, Ryan would wipe the table and wash the dishes after the meal. He did very little physically demanding work, and his activity level had decreased significantly. It was no wonder he had gained weight.

Landon: “…Forget it. Just cherish the current Lord Felix.”

Ryan nodded and let out a soft sigh. “I will.”

Inside the kitchen, Felix leaned against the counter and watched Adam fiddle with the dough. He asked, “Do you cook often at home?”

Adam pinched the dough, his smile mixed with embarrassment. “My cooking is actually terrible.”

“If you like cooking, you can come over here often in the future. I’ll teach you.” Felix rubbed the flour on his hands, seemingly casual, but in reality, he was observing Adam’s every move.

Adam appeared to have a simple personality, but Felix knew this person was definitely not as simple as he seemed on the surface.

He had seen news about this Lord on the Star Network. In this world where females had no rights, he had not only held a grand wedding with Landon but had also promised at the wedding that he would never accept any other females.

At the time, it had trended on the hot search, and he was pushed to the top of the list of males females most wanted to marry.

Felix had noticed this male back then, as well as the faint-smiling Alec by his side.

Although Adam had some schemes, it clearly wasn’t much. His heart was entirely focused on the dough, and he didn’t realize that the person he was chatting so happily with just a moment ago was now scrutinizing his every move.

“Really?” His eyes widened in surprise. “Do you know how to cook a lot of things?”

“Of course,” Felix smiled. Before Adam could respond, he quickly added: “But there is a prerequisite.”

“What is it?” Adam accepted Felix’s condition naturally. “Tell me, I’ll follow your rules.”

“How old are you this year?”

“Eighteen,” Adam answered frankly. “I’m a bit older than you. I just reached adulthood six months ago.”

Felix kneaded a piece of dough the size of a thumbnail. Looking into his eyes, he asked again, “The age gap between you and Admiral Landon seems quite large?”

“It’s not that big,” Adam hadn’t expected him to gossip about this and immediately became embarrassed. “Landon and I have known each other since we were kids. His family didn’t treat him well. I couldn’t protect him before, but now that I’m an adult, so… well, you understand.”

His smile was pure and satisfied. “Now I have the ability to protect him.”

Felix was caught off guard by this sudden display of affection. After a moment of gloom, he continued to ask: “Then you also know Alec?”

“Of course,” Adam answered quickly. Only after speaking did he react. He panicked for a moment, then pretended to be calm and continued kneading the dough. “Alec’s family is also noble. We… we’ve known each other since we were very small.”

“So he’s the one who sent you here today,” Felix glanced at Adam’s wrist, which was white enough to reflect light. This was definitely not the skin tone of a male who enjoyed socializing. “You don’t usually go out to play much, do you?”

Adam’s heart skipped a beat, and his kneading movements became disorganized. “I… I occasionally… go out. Today was also… also out of curiosity, so…”

“Adam,” Felix’s voice grew colder, making it impossible to read his emotions. “Are you sure you want to keep hiding it from me?”

Adam stopped kneading. His fingers nervously poked the dough as he subconsciously looked for Landon’s figure. Only when he saw that only Felix was beside him did he realize that Landon had been personally locked outside the door by him.

Adam: “…” (Crying without tears emoji)

“How on earth did you find out?” Adam finally couldn’t help but ask. “I clearly hid it so well.”

“Alec was the one who told you to wear the long coat, wasn’t he?” Felix tapped his own wrist. “A male who goes out often, no matter how well they protect themselves, will still have traces of the sun on their body.”

Furthermore, Adam’s actions were all aimed at creating an image of an enthusiastic, outgoing person who loved making friends. Especially on the first day of school when most males chose to rest, this kind of deliberate visit was far too obviously problematic.

Adam looked at Felix’s wrist and then at his own. He secretly clicked his tongue: No wonder Alec refused to come in person; this guy is way too alert!

“Fine,” he said dejectedly. “I really don’t like going out, and I don’t like those other males.”

Finally, following Alec’s instructions, he tried to gain some favor in front of Felix, but unfortunately, Felix didn’t show much of a reaction.

Adam became even more depressed. Poking the dough, he carefully observed Felix’s expression. “Then can I still come find you to play in the future?”

“You can,” Felix’s gaze landed on the already riddled piece of dough. After a pause, he said, “On the condition that you bake this piece of dough into bread.”

    Adam: “No problem!”

By the time all the dough had been made into bread, the two finally opened the kitchen door. Ryan subconsciously looked at Felix’s eyes. Seeing that they were still filled with a casual indifference, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

    This was the good Master.

“Landon!” Having not seen his Female Monarch all afternoon, Adam reached out and hugged Landon’s waist, burying his head in his chest and rubbing against him. “I’m so tired.”

Landon rubbed his hair with heartache. His tone carried a hint of reproach but couldn’t hide his doting. “I told you not to cook yourself. Whatever you want to eat, I can make it for you.”

“But I prefer doing it myself,” Adam held up the bread in his hand and gave his Female Monarch a sweet smile. “Let’s go back and eat bread, okay?”

Landon naturally wouldn’t refuse, but seeing the urgency in his Master’s eyes, he immediately realized what had happened in the kitchen.

“Lord Felix, Ryan, it’s getting late. We’ll be going now,” Landon decisively chose to retreat as quickly as possible. “You’re welcome to visit us next door.”

Felix nodded, his smile still cold and faint, making it impossible to discern any emotion. Landon felt even more uncertain.

He wondered if his Master had been bullied. He muttered to himself, but his feet didn’t stop for a second as he led Adam away in a hurry.

As soon as they walked back to the dormitory next door, Adam’s face fell. He put the bread on the table and plopped down opposite Alec, who had been waiting for a long time. “Alec, he’s too scary. You were right, he’s exactly… exactly like that person!”

Alec glanced at the bread and naturally pinched a piece to eat, having expected this. “What? It didn’t go well?”

“He’s just too scary,” Adam rubbed his face. “He guessed long ago that you were the one who told me to test him. You have no idea how terrifying he is.”

Alec listened intently as Adam complained: “After I was caught, we made bread together. I thought he had forgiven me, but who knew… who knew he would make me smile the entire time while making the bread! He even said that only bread made with a smile tastes the best!”

“The worst part was, if my smile was even slightly imperfect, he would stop and wait for me to show a perfect smile again!”

“And he didn’t even smile himself!”

Adam was sad. Adam was aggrieved. Adam’s face hurt.

Alec let out a laugh, pinching a slice of bread and savoring it slowly. “The taste is indeed quite good.”

    Adam: “…Alec… mmmph!”

“Master!” Landon immediately covered the male’s mouth, rubbing his face with heartache. “Lord Felix is right next door. If you shout that loudly, he’ll hear you.”

Adam: “…” What a terrifying male!
