    Chapter 46

The hidden advantage of “Simplification” was completely gone, and after being killed twice by “No Return,” the mood was quite frustrating. Seeing the team invitation popped up from Su Su, he said irritably, “I advise you to stay away from me; ‘No Return’ is targeting me with their team. If you team up with me, it’ll probably just lower your score even more.”

Su Su remembered that in the last game, someone from “No Return” had turned him into a target. The player who pulled him in ended up being eliminated immediately, yet “No Return” remained on the field, accumulating points slowly with the help of their teammates, reaching a total of thirty-one points, which was obviously the highest in the game.

As a vengeful little shark, Su Su certainly wouldn’t let go of someone who had plotted against him, especially not with their higher score.

“We can partner up to counter them.”

“Just the two of us? How do you plan to counter them?” “Simplification” showed some interest.

“It’s very simple. For a while, I’ll block the attacks, and you’ll grab the points. Let’s get your score up first. I’ll let my score drop slowly to zero.” Su Su stated leisurely.

As a player with zero points, as long as they didn’t attack, they wouldn’t become a target for anyone and wouldn’t be eliminated. Su Su’s starship was a bit fragile, but being at zero points would act as a shield for him. With him around, others would hesitate to attack “Simplification.” At least they wouldn’t dare to throw around area attacks recklessly. As the top player on the leaderboard, “Simplification” wouldn’t rely on area firepower, making it difficult for ordinary players to kill her.

“When your score is high enough, you just need to stick your starship close to mine in stealth mode, and since I have no points, your starship’s score will show above my head.”

“Are you saying we disguise ourselves as one starship?” “Simplification” understood.

“Exactly. Any attack directed at me will eliminate the player immediately. I’ll do my best to control the position and block deadly attacks for you. You just need to find opportunities to take out players with higher scores than yours.”

After thinking for a while, “Simplification” continued, “Your idea is good, but it can only work for a short while, especially against ‘No Return.’ They’ve always been cautious and will likely send their subordinates to probe first. Once they suffer a loss, they’ll quickly understand.”

“And at this rate, my score will keep rising, but my scoring will slow down more and more. In the end, I’d only gain points one by one, while your score will remain zero. Even if we can hold until the end, according to the current mechanism, I deliberately lose points to you, and we’ll only share around a dozen points.”

“Precisely, that’s what we want them to realize.” Su Su grinned slyly. “No need for you to give up points to me. ‘No Return’ has quite a bit of score, after all.”

“Simplification” laughed too, “This plan sounds very beneficial for me. But do you really have confidence in killing ‘No Return’? PVP is their strong suit, and in close combat, you probably can’t withstand even one of their attacks.”

Su Su reassured, “Don’t worry. Close combat is also one of my strong suits.”

“Simplification” remembered that “White Scaled Shark” never fought in close combat in the arena, relying instead on long-range attacks and heavy artillery for key kills. However, since her opponent was so confident, she agreed. After all, in the whole plan, her risk was the lowest.

Once they reached an agreement, the two of them started to execute their plan.

Su Su’s goal was to gain points, and he wasn’t in a hurry; but when it came to losing points, he certainly could do that quickly. Except for waiting to respawn and the time spent reuniting with “Simplification”, he barely spent any effort.

When the game time had reached two hours, he had successfully gotten himself down to zero points, and at the same time, “Simplification” had successfully killed a high-point player, pushing her score to 17 points.

Currently, players above this score either had their own teams to protect them or were extremely strong by themselves; trying to score further had become quite arduous.

Meanwhile, “Five Spoon”, who had quietly been observing “Simplification” from a distance, noticed that her score was nearing 20 and immediately reported the situation to “No Return.”

“‘Simplification’ has already acquired 17 points; do we continue targeting her?”

“No Return” had just led a team to eliminate a group looking to steal points. Seeing that his own score had risen to 39, he smirked slightly. “Report the coordinates.”

“They are heading towards me.” “Simplification” hurried toward Su Su’s coordinates while communicating with him through their team voice.

“I see you.” Su Su accelerated to rendezvous with “Simplification” and said, “Activate stealth.”

The black starship vanished from the universe, turning into an inconspicuous shadow. While the starship moved through the void, it neither emitted flames nor sound. Unless someone noticed the glaring score above, it would be very hard to find her in such confusion.

The meeting point was chosen by Su Su in advance, perfectly situated in a chaotic area of boulders, severely obstructing their sight. Members from “No Return” simply saw the shadow with a score above it dart into a pile of rocks, then disappeared. As they approached, they encountered a modified “Silver Dragon” starship, also sporting a score of 17.

An agile swallow dove boldly past a group, seemingly picking its prey at will.

He had his sights set on a starship with a score of 26. This was the third highest in the “No Return” team. Also a “Silver Dragon,” it underwent some standard modifications to enhance attack and defense.

Su Su suddenly launched an attack, diving toward the opponent while preparing to fire a heavy artillery shot aimed directly at the command center.

The targeted player, “Feiyan,” was also among the top ten in the arena rankings and a senior member of the “Zhongxiao Guild.”

Faced with the incoming shot, he dodged with remarkable speed, the starship tracing a silver arc in the air, narrowly avoiding the attack.

After dodging, “Feiyan” did not immediately counterattack; he hesitated. “White Scaled Shark” had a lower score than him, and striking back would merely deduct one point from her, which was too cheap for the opponent.

“Feiyan” communicated with “No Return,” “Captain, it’s ‘White Scaled Shark.’”

“Surround him.” “No Return” quickly shifted targets.

He hadn’t planned to excessively target “White Scaled Shark,” as it was clear from her starship type that she was ill-suited for such chaotic battles. Moreover, without a team, it would be difficult for her to increase her score.

However, he didn’t expect that she could maintain a relatively high score for such a long time, even daring to draw scoring attention onto his team. Then he wouldn’t hold back.

“Simplification” could be killed at any time, so of course, he wouldn’t let go of the opportunity presented by “White Scaled Shark.”

The surrounding starships numbered five, all of which had scores below 17.

Among them, one zero-score starship openly blocked the path in front of “Feiyan’s” starship.

Su Su deliberately adjusted his angle and dove toward the “Silver Dragon,” appearing as if he planned to bypass the zero-score starship and attack the “Silver Dragon.”

The zero-score starship immediately followed Su Su’s lead, intercepting him on his attack path, firing a heavy cannon from an extremely close position toward Su Su’s starship.

The heavy blast covered a large area, and just as the “Silver Dragon” starship had no place to evade, the driver of the zero-point starship was filled with excitement, preparing to receive the nine points sent from the “Silver Dragon.” Yet to their surprise, the swallow intercepted the incoming heavy cannon without any damage, while the system reported that the player was disqualified for violating rules.

How could this be possible? The zero-score player stared blankly at the screen fading to gray, his eyes suddenly widening in the last second before his vision vanished – he saw that the score above the “Silver Dragon” had disappeared.

Attacking a player with the same or lower score was considered a violation. He truly had committed a foul.

But how could this be possible? Just moments ago, he clearly saw the bright number 17 above the starship. If those 17 points weren’t his, whose could they be?

The same confusion came from “Feiyan,” who was behind the obstructed view. He questioned whether he was seeing things; otherwise, why would the score targeted by “White Scaled Shark” just evaporate?

In the next second, he came to realize that it wasn’t the score that disappeared; it was two starships. From the very beginning, there were two starships – the one without score was “White Scaled Shark’s,” and the starship above her…

His vision suddenly dimmed, and upon opening his eyes again, he was already at the respawn countdown, with the score of 26 reduced to 21. The kill record boldly displayed the name he had just thought of – the target they had been chasing for so long: “Simplification.”

Two consecutive starships being killed left the other surrounding ships momentarily stunned, as if they had just blinked and saw Su Su’s starship and its score part briefly before remerging in unity.

“No Return” had understood the trick after observing, and seeing more of his team members preparing to use area damage against “White Scaled Shark,” he immediately called out, “Everyone stop.”

But while he stopped, “Simplification” wouldn’t. She targeted a starship that had just made a move against her, her solid black starship like a phantom engulfing it.

Her method of attack was somewhat similar to a light blade, a type of particle gun that only worked within a kilometer, almost hitting when the two starships were right up against each other. However, its power was stronger than a light blade, and the targeted starship would begin to break apart from the contact surface.

“Simplification” was like a butcher dissecting an ox, every starship’s structure was as clear as a transparent drawing to her; she always managed to identify the most vulnerable joints. Then, with a swift and thunderous assault, she pierced forward, delivering a deadly strike.

Yet another starship found itself at the respawn point.

“No Return” had just managed to explain the situation to his team members: “They are two starships; ‘White Scaled Shark’s starship has zero points, do not attack it! ‘Simplification’s starship is currently at 23 points and can be attacked, but she has activated stealth now, be cautious of her movements, and watch out for ambushes.”

At that, the team members hurriedly concentrated their fire on the shadow beneath the score but noticed just before firing that the shadow was blocked by “White Scaled Shark’s” starship.

Their speed was too fast, sometimes sticking together, and sometimes splitting to attack. When they were close together, all starships that attacked “Simplification” would also be deemed to have attacked “White Scaled Shark.”

The “No Return” team members faced frustration as they found their hands tied; both the speed and reactions of their opponents were top-notch, and a slight misstep could lead to disaster.

In no time at all, another two starships were disqualified for violations, and one starship was destroyed in a sudden attack from “Simplification.”

Zheng Hui realized that dragging this out wouldn’t do; either he withdrew the team now, giving up on targeting these two, or he would have to think quickly to eliminate them in one sweep.

“Ranged team, fall back, space yourselves out, surround the immediate area. If either of them separates, focus fire on ‘Simplification’ immediately.”

“Defense and control teams, close in to protect teammates and prevent ‘Simplification’ from ambushing.”

“Control team, wait for my order to separate ‘Simplification’ and ‘White Scaled Shark.’ As soon as ‘White Scaled Shark’ strikes, immediately restrain them and eliminate them.”

After speaking, “No Return” piloted the “Phoenix” starship forward. Given that these two players operated far better than the average, he decided to take part personally.

The “Phoenix” dove towards Su Su like a falcon.

Once close enough, Zheng Hui could see that the positions of the two starships weren’t completely overlapping but instead maintained a distance of about a hundred meters, being tight against each other.

What he needed to do was to separate the two starships.

“No Return” signaled and provided the exact coordinates, and the control team immediately went into action; they had already developed a splendid partnership, with chains wrapping around “Shadow Chaser” from all directions, sealing off all possible escape routes without reaching the tightly adjacent “Silver Dragon” at all.

But Su Su’s “Silver Dragon” immediately followed closely, preventing “Shadow Chaser” from separating and becoming a target.

“Simplification” also wasn’t the type to passively take hits. She selected the easiest starship to target and signaled Su Su; the two instantly rushed in from either side to encircle the opponent.

Zheng Hui was waiting for this moment!

A chain latched onto the “Phoenix,” exchanging positions with the attacked starship.

“No Return” was determined to counter any attacks against the two starships. The flames from the “Phoenix” shot out toward the two starships that were in close range.

Faced with the sudden appearance of the “Phoenix” on his screen, Su Su licked his sharp teeth.

The harmless swallow transformed into a bloodthirsty shark, and the modified “Silver Dragon” revealed its true murderous intent for the first time.

In shark form, the starship leaped into lively action, its tail flicking just in time to evade the lethal strike from the flames. Using the momentum, it suddenly lunged forward, its front splitting open to reveal steel-toothed weapons, swiftly snapping at the connection of the cockpit to the “Phoenix.”

The system announced a kill notification. Half of the 44 points that the “Phoenix” had painstakingly accumulated over two hours were swiftly snatched away by Su Su.

The “Silver Dragon” twirled through the remnants of the flames, executing an aerial roll.
