LSDWTWHA chapter 39
by VolareChapter 38
Sharp fangs pierced the surface of the Silver Dragon starship, securing the two starships together and ensuring a perfect docking of their landing bays.
Qi Hanyi did not expect Su Su to achieve this step, significantly reducing the difficulty of his infiltration.
Inside the landing bay, there was only a basic type of escape mech, which, aside from its decent hardness and power, had no other utility.
However, it was already sufficient for Qi Hanyi.
He controlled the movements of the mech and landed gracefully, charging straight towards the cockpit.
At the same time, the pilot of the “Canine Tooth” received a warning that an unmanned mech was illegally invading. However, upon seeing that there was only one escape mech, he immediately relaxed, disdainfully snorted, and activated the defensive systems within the bay. Scarlet beams filled the passage like a dense spider web.
Qi Hanyi stopped outside the beams; these were the cutting particle beams specifically designed to counter mech invasions inside the starship. Regular mechs would be shredded like paper by these beams.
Behind him, a group of autopilot mechs received commands and began to surround Qi Hanyi.
Dense bullets rained down, and Qi Hanyi found himself attacked from multiple directions.
According to standard invasion procedures, if the passage was blocked, he would have to abandon the cockpit, break out from the encircling mechs behind him, and first destroy the starship’s energy source to shut down the beams.
But Qi Hanyi did not plan to do it that way. Since Su Su wanted this starship, he naturally had to leave the best for him.
In swift moves, Qi Hanyi knocked out a group of attacking mechs, tore off a weapon from one mech’s arm, and aimed it at the energy beam emitter on the wall. Under the intense heat, the emitter rapidly malfunctioned. The red beams were partially destroyed, exposing a wider gap, enough for a nimble mech to pass through the passage.
As the opposing forces approached the cockpit, the pilot of “Canine Tooth” began to panic. He closed the cockpit door.
Qi Hanyi’s mech stopped outside the cockpit door. Although this door was an internal door, its sturdiness was no less than the landing bay door that Su Su had just broken through with the Silver Dragon’s horn.
Using this escape mech and weapon to break through would be somewhat challenging.
However, Qi Hanyi knew that although this door was solid, other places might not be.
Lifting the weapon above his head, Qi Hanyi fired several shots at the ceiling before opening the mech’s hatch and climbing into the narrow conduit.
At the same time, a strong tremor resonated from outside the ship.
The teammates of “Canine Tooth” were unaware of the unexpected events happening here and assumed “Canine Tooth” had successfully secured its target. Thus, they began to bombard the Silver Dragon starship, which was closely linked to “Canine Tooth,” drawing some collateral damage.
Meanwhile, the pilot of “Canine Tooth” was currently reporting the situation to the team channel: “There is more than one player on the Silver Dragon; there’s one who can pilot a mech, and they’re quite capable. It seems they want to seize control of my starship. Not only did they eliminate all my autopilot mechs in one encounter, but they also got past the particle beams’ block.”
“I’ve locked the cockpit door, but I don’t know how long it can hold.”
“Hah, I was wondering where they got their audacity from; it turns out they’re relying on snatching the starship. I truly underestimated them.” The pilot of “Meteor” was evidently the leader of this group, and after a brief thought, he sent a command to “Canine Tooth”: “If they want to seize it, let them. Doesn’t ‘Canine Tooth’ have a separate escape route from the cockpit? Just take the escape pod and leave; I’ll have number three pick you up. Later, I’ll switch to a heavy artillery and blow both starships apart.”
The escape route from the cockpit was a special design of “Canine Tooth,” as per its characteristics; sometimes it would be used as bait to stall enemy starships. In such cases, the pilot could directly escape from the cockpit faster than running to the landing bay to board a mech.
The number three mentioned by the pilot of “Meteor” referred to a small starship in the squad, the one closest to “Canine Tooth,” which could provide support quickly, minimizing the enemy’s chances of taking control of “Canine Tooth.”
“Blow it all up? Then my ‘Canine Tooth’ too…” The pilot of “Canine Tooth” was clearly a bit reluctant.
“What’s there to feel bad about? Your broken starship only costs 800 star coins to reset at most. Just let me cover the expenses for you, okay?”
“Alright, I’ll listen to the captain.” The pilot of “Canine Tooth” immediately changed his tone.
The pilot opened the escape pod in the cockpit, nervously preparing to dive in.
Suddenly, a weapon silently appeared above his head, coldly pressed against his skull, and Qi Hanyi’s voice came like ice cutting through shards of frost: “Where do you think you’re going?”
Even though he knew it was a game, such a threat nearly made the pilot of “Canine Tooth” wet himself from fear.
Su Su received the signal much faster than he had anticipated.
Since the landing bay doors of the two starships were in a docking state, no further adjustments to the starship were necessary.
Su Su cut off the mental connection and pressed the “Eject” button. Sitting in the pilot’s chair, he swiftly slid toward the landing bay.
There was only one mech inside the starship, which was given to Qi Hanyi. Su Su directly leapt into the opposing starship with a “thud,” coming face to face with a straight passage leading to the cockpit. Qi Hanyi, having secured control of the starship, opened the cockpit door at the first opportunity and cleared any obstacles, leaving Su Su with a clear path.
“You’re so quick!” Su Su cheered, waving his fish fins joyfully as he ran toward the cockpit.
“It was your landing opportunity that you created well.” Qi Hanyi stepped aside from the pilot seat and swept his gaze around: “I arrived so quickly that the enemy didn’t even have time to react and counter me. I took control before any battle took place.”
“Ah, is that so?” Su Su felt it wasn’t that fast after all. Besides, weren’t there multiple layers of defenses in every starship?
Su Su blinked and looked at the pilot locked in the escape pod, his mouth stuffed with the game’s item “Unremovable Cloth” by Qi Hanyi.
The opposing pilot currently wore an expression of unwillingness and indignation as he glared at Qi Hanyi. Su Su felt that his teammate seemed to be hiding something.
But weren’t they friends? What was it that he couldn’t tell him?
At that moment, the approaching number three starship also neared “Canine Tooth,” but it had not yet received the ejected pilot. Therefore, it sent a communication: “Hurry up and get out! If you don’t come now, I’m leaving.”
The original pilot naturally couldn’t respond to the communication.
Su Su took control of the starship through mental force and connected with the coms. He asked number three, “Are you planning to take him away and blow up ‘Canine Tooth’ too?”
“Damn, how are you guys so quick?” The pilot of number three seemed young and clearly startled by Su Su’s sudden arrival. He yelped and abruptly cut off the communication.
Hearing that voice, which clearly hadn’t reached the age of voice change, Su Su shook his head and thought: Who’s the kid here?
Watching the panicked trajectory of the opponent, Su Su speculated that he was probably signaling his teammates.
It seemed their plan was as he had imagined. Su Su did not intend to give them a chance to aim. Withdrawing his fangs, he fired a heavy cannon toward his own starship, using the recoil to escape rapidly.
The heavy artillery from “Meteor” arrived late, just managing to pass between the two disjoined starships.
Su Su was mostly unscathed, yet the pilot of “Canine Tooth” was drenched in cold sweat from the scare.
Su Su comforted him with a laugh: “Don’t worry, you won’t die. Being on my starship is the safest place.”
Su Su opened the team communication channel, mimicking the opponents’ tone to taunt: “You’re relentless; your own people are still on the starship, and you’re so impatient to kill me?”
The driver of “Meteor” replied nonchalantly, “That waste couldn’t escape; who else can he blame? He provoked us, the Heavy Sky Guild; you’re not walking out alive today.”
Provoked? Su Su thought, clearly he was the one who had been robbed of his prey.
But in the deep sea where he lived, those predators never played fair; the strongest was the boss. Being superior meant you could do as you pleased.
So Su Su didn’t plan to argue with them, directly piloting “Canine Tooth” straight toward “Meteor.”
As “Meteor” did not dodge, it was never known for its speed, only existing as an artillery platform. Seeing Su Su’s starship charging over, it merely ordered other starships to engage while it aimed its artillery madly at “Canine Tooth.”
Good shot! Su Su grinned, biting down on the sharp teeth of the shark, excitedly piloting the starship to evade the cannon fire chasing after him.
He didn’t evade quickly; instead, he deliberately controlled his speed, allowing the enemy’s shells to brush past him each time, missing him by mere inches.
As expected, after several exchanges, the pilot of “Meteor” jumped up and shouted in the team channel: “Are you all just sitting there doing nothing? Stop him!”
He was so furious that he forgot that “Canine Tooth” was also on the same communication line.
Su Su heard the frustrated screams and didn’t hold back, maliciously trying to stir the pot: “Exactly! How can so many people not stop just one of me? Is this the first guild? Just this?”
The pilot of “Flowing Flame” was quick to anger, igniting at once: “Damn it! Just wait for me; if you’re so brave, don’t you dare dodge.”
Su Su laughed: “Why would I dodge? Am I waiting to be hit? If you’re brave, come catch me!”
Before long, a string of pursuers followed closely behind him. “Flowing Flame” sped ahead, firing fiercely at “Canine Tooth,” but the latter was as agile as a fish, dodging up and down without getting hit at all.
Suddenly, two hook locks extended from the side, swooping in to encircle. “Canine Tooth” briefly halted, seemingly uncertain which direction to evade.
“Opportunity!” The pilots of “Meteor” and “Flowing Flame” thought simultaneously.
They focused solely on the target ahead, failing to notice that under Su Su’s intentional manipulation, the three had formed a straight line.
Calculating the distance, Su Su suddenly retreated, biting down on the two hook locks that swooped in from the sides.
“Boom!” A heavy cannon hit “Canine Tooth,” its inertia sending “Canine Tooth” speeding backward, dragging the two “Void Prisons” into “Flowing Flame’s” firing range, the “Void Prisons” distorted by the white flames.
Following that, “Canine Tooth” collided heavily with the already-close “Flowing Flame,” which was merely a B-class starship. Its strengths lay in firepower rather than defense, resulting in substantial damage from the intense bombardment and collision.
In contrast, “Canine Tooth,” having its strengths in defense, suffered far less damage despite being attacked the most.
Having executed his plan successfully, Su Su couldn’t help but gloat: “Nice job, ‘Meteor,’ landing a heavy hit on three teammates. You truly deserve that.”
The pilot of “Meteor” was so enraged he nearly spat blood: “Do you think you can fight openly? What skill is it to resort to such dirty tricks!”
Su Su was no weakling in arguments, his words spraying forth like machine-gun fire leaving others speechless: “Those useless ones love to find excuses from others.”
“What? Ten against one, and you still want to play fair? Just let someone stand still and become your target, then!”
“Sorry, I spoke too soon. With your level, you might not even hit the target.”
After finishing his rebuttal, Su Su suddenly remembered there was a teammate sitting behind him. Oh no, he had unintentionally revealed a rather unpleasant side of himself, no longer resembling a cute shark.
He closed the communication channel, leaning his head out from the back of his seat to redeem himself: “I’m usually very friendly and never argue.”
“Is that so?” Qi Hanyi raised his eyes, looking at the young man in the pilot seat: “But I think you were quite cute arguing just now.”
Su Su’s heart felt as if it had been struck by something soft, momentarily lost in thoughts.
Only when Qi Hanyi reminded him of a new communication did he snap back to reality.
The communication did not come from the previous opponent; there was a new starship behind their team, its fiery red coating seeming to burn, golden feathers trailing behind, leaving a long beam of light.
Su Su had seen an introduction about this starship; it was a limited-edition starship that couldn’t be purchased anymore — the championship starship from the last starship competition, the “Phoenix.”
Connecting the communication, a gentle male voice came through: “Hello, I am the Vice President of the Heavy Sky Guild, ‘No Return.'”
