    First——The God that Controls…

Ning Fei, after dragging Duan Yunhong into an empty room in the church for a quickie, cursed himself and Duan Yunhong for losing their minds as he hurried away, which amused him.

Duan Yunhong, on the other hand, didn’t mind. Having experienced “forced upon under the influence of Light Magic,” his resistance to such situations had skyrocketed. Never mind Ning Fei at least dragged him into a room; even if he pinned Duan Yunhong at the end of a corridor or in a place where people might pass by outside, Duan Yunhong would probably just go along with it.

He could tell that Ning Fei wasn’t really angry, but rather seemed much more relaxed, so he said, “Stop cursing. It’s just the two of us; no need to pretend. You seem pretty happy.”

“Yes, yes, a miraculous cure, Doctor Duan,” Ning Fei joked casually. But they both knew that this quickie was just one event in a process. His mood had been shifting ever since they had started chatting, especially after Ning Fei said he was beginning to regret telling Duan Yunhong where he came from.

The fundamental reason for his lighter mood was the loosening of his psychological shackles, not the physical release.

    They both understood this implicitly.

Duan Yunhong was thinking that at this rate, Ning Fei should be willing to leave in a few days. As long as he was willing to leave, it would mean that he actively wanted to break free from the world’s constraints on him, and it would also mean… that he was indeed accepting Duan Yunhong’s approach and exploration.

This was tantamount to him responding to Duan Yunhong, answering that silent question.

–Tsk, all that simping wasn’t for nothing.

However, just before Ning Fei was about to make a decision, Prince Fiennes suddenly pulled a big stunt.

First, he ordered the abolition of the existing church and prepared to establish a new church with a completely new management mechanism and personnel. But this wasn’t a big deal for Ning Fei. What really shocked Ning Fei was that he announced that Ning Fei was the new “messenger of God” and that a statue of Ning Fei would be erected in the central square!

    “…No, why!”

As soon as the attendant who had come to deliver the message left the room, Ning Fei immediately sat up straight from the sofa, revealing the shocked expression he had been trying to suppress: “Huh? Me? A statue?!”

“Hahaha…” Duan Yunhong had been holding back his laughter just now, but now he laughed unrestrainedly. “Prince Fiennes is now in sole control of the royal power, and the first thing he comes up with is this kind of thing. And did you hear what that person said? The proclamation says that your statue not only symbolizes the descent of a miracle, but will also become the ‘Eye of God’ suppressing the nobles, making them fear your majesty and dare not commit crimes. It shows that he is really devoted to you and is determined to establish an image for you.”

“I didn’t give him that ‘divine decree.’ Why is he acting on his own? Does he think this will alleviate his psychological guilt? What a dream!” Ning Fei clicked his tongue. “Damn, it’s so stupid. Just thinking that that thing is being admired in my name makes me feel goosebumps all over!”

Duan Yunhong was still laughing: “Who told you to have such strong Light Magic power? It wouldn’t be strange if you became a god directly, let alone a ‘messenger of God,’ hahaha…”

“Tsk, do you want another Light Magic play?” Ning Fei kicked him and then casually picked up a piece of chocolate from the snack plate the attendant had just brought, taking a bite. “…So bitter. No wonder it’s a casino; the goal is to make people mentally excited, right? Too much sugar makes you sleepy, so loading up on cocoa keeps people awake…”

Before he could finish speaking, Duan Yunhong leaned over and bit off the remaining half of the chocolate in his hand. Ning Fei pulled his hand away to dodge: “Dogs can’t eat chocolate.”

Duan Yunhong raised an eyebrow: “Are you insulting me again?”

“Simps are dogs too.” Ning Fei snorted and threw the remaining chocolate into his own mouth. Duan Yunhong then grabbed his chin and kissed him directly, snatching the chocolate from his mouth.

Until that somewhat inferior chocolate melted.

Ning Fei also leaned into Duan Yunhong’s arms, or rather, simply lazed on him. Duan Yunhong’s thumb pressed on his chin, his voice a little low and hoarse: “Since the statue unveiling ceremony is the day after tomorrow, should I help you smash it?”

Ning Fei slowly blinked: “Anyway, I’ll be leaving soon. Once I leave, everyone will forget about me, and the symbolic meaning of that statue will no longer be me…”

“I’m just asking if you want to.” Duan Yunhong stared at him at close range. “If you don’t like that statue, then its existence for a day, a minute, a second, is disgusting to you. Do you find it disgusting that a follower like Prince Fiennes is watching you, loving you with it?”

    “Disgusting.”

“If it’s disgusting, then eliminate the source of what disgusts you.”

“You’re really crazy, Duan Yunhong. True to yourself.” Ning Fei also raised his hand and touched the man’s chin. “Wishing evil to die, right?”

“Are you going to judge me again?” Duan Yunhong bit his fingertip. “Don’t pretend. We’re on the same path. Be decisive. Do you want me to do it? Or do you want to do it yourself?”

“…Alright, alright, smash it, smash my statue to smithereens, and you’ll be happy.” Ning Fei sat up, turning his back to the man. “You’re really going to make me resent you.”

Duan Yunhong now understood immediately that this “resentment” was similar to Ning Fei’s “regret” yesterday.

This was Ning Fei’s self-protection mechanism, as well as one layer of his hard shell…

The safer he felt, gradually loosening this layer of shell, at a certain point, he would suddenly wake up. His instinct ordered him to be wary of this comfort, not to indulge in it.

“Don’t resist; keep going.” Duan Yunhong stretched out his long arm from behind, put his arm around Ning Fei’s waist, and rested his head on his shoulder. “We’ve both entered the game. I’ve also invested heavily. You understand that very well, right? Let’s gamble together, Teacher Ning. Aren’t you the least afraid of high-stakes gambles?”

Ning Fei pinched his arm hard, hinting at something: “Don’t think I won’t bite.”

“Experienced it.” Duan Yunhong also spoke with a mix of meanings, laughing softly in Ning Fei’s ear. “If it really comes to that, then bite. I deserve it. Of course, you… will also be bitten by me. You have to be careful.”

Ning Fei said, “Then I’ll hate you and bite you at the same time.”

Duan Yunhong smiled: “It’s not bad to have someone hate me forever, remember me forever.”

On the day of the statue unveiling ceremony, the central square was once again filled with soldiers.

However, they did not suppress or drive away the crowds who were watching and waiting for the prince’s distribution of alms later. They merely maintained basic order and prevented people from approaching the statue in advance. The statue was already covered by a huge white cloth, and the base was only half a meter high but very wide, about 2.5 meters. It was also about 2 meters high, with an overall flattened triangular pyramid shape. No one knew what Ning Fei looked like inside, or which part was Ning Fei.

Prince Fiennes personally came to preside over the ceremony, but he was a little far away, and it was difficult to hear what he was saying from a distance. There was also a band on site, and the melodious and sacred music traveled far. However, coupled with the ground in the central square being covered with the names of nobles and various uncleared stains, the scene was extremely bizarre.

“How long will this formalism last…”

Because of their subsequent actions, Ning Fei and Duan Yunhong didn’t have the casino prepare a room but found a nearby rooftop to squat on. Since there was no other entertainment, Ning Fei was a little impatient: “Why didn’t I tell him to reflect on this set of extravagance and dissipation? Why not just blow the cloth away with a gust of wind?”

Duan Yunhong had been watching the excitement all along: “Lift it! I thought you were holding back some program, so I resisted from taking action.”

Ning Fei glanced at him: “Then are you ready?”

“To be honest, this shape is a bit difficult.” Duan Yunhong stretched out his hand and made a gesture in the air, estimating the size. “A standing figure is easy to handle; it’s easy to push over. This triangular thing, I don’t even know if you’re sitting or standing inside. If you’re lying down…”

“Stop talking. If they make me lie down in the square, please blow it up immediately.” Ning Fei felt like he couldn’t stand it for even a second. “Act now, okay?”

“Okay.” Duan Yunhong stifled a laugh and took out two… black balls of different sizes from his arms. “I originally thought that shooting one over would be enough to blow up the statue, but now I guess I’ll have to rely on your wind to control the explosion point. The fuses for both are about 15 seconds. The whole thing probably won’t be blown up completely. Try to destroy the key parts.”

“I knew that the things you’ve been fiddling with these past few days were dangerous. So you’ve been a bomber in the room.” Ning Fei picked up one of the black balls. “Are you so eager to die with me once?”

“I know what I’m doing.” Duan Yunhong raised an eyebrow slightly. “Your hand, on the other hand, be careful. It’s difficult to make stable explosion-proof materials in this era. If you shake it a few more times, don’t blame me if it explodes prematurely. It’s a small matter for the two of us to commit suicide on the spot, but it’s a big deal if your statue doesn’t get blown up.”

“Who the hell is committing suicide with you…” Ning Fei scoffed but stopped his hand from shaking it. “I’m going to lift that cloth.”

“Don’t be nervous.” Duan Yunhong teased. “Take a deep breath, relax a little…”

“Nonsense, those are the words for entering the delivery room!” Ning Fei cursed him and finally felt comfortable. Then, Ning Fei turned his palm over and sent it empty toward the statue, and a strong wind suddenly rose!

The wind came in swirls, instantly causing chaos in the square. People’s hats, scarves, and other lighter items were blown away, spinning in the air. People themselves were also blown over, bending over and squinting. Some even had to grab onto the people next to them to stand firm. The band and Prince Fiennes, who was standing next to the statue, suffered even more, being blown over and staggering. The prince reacted quickly, realizing something immediately, holding down his hat and looking around while supported by his servant.

The next moment, the white cloth on the statue was lifted up as a whole, blocking the prince’s view.

The statue finally revealed its true face.

    Duan Yunhong: “…Pfft.”

It wasn’t his fault for laughing again; this statue was too unexpected. It turned out that the triangle wasn’t a landscape; it was Ning Fei… ‘s clothes!

It was the robe from Ning Fei’s classic look, drooping from the top of his head and spreading in all directions, turning into an almost triangular pyramid outline. The front of the statue did have a human figure, with closed eyes and the index finger of his right hand extending slightly downward, as if it were a drooping branch about to bring down sweet dew. To be precise, the human figure was only half-length, and the lower half was again hidden in the robe. Although the face was very holy and beautiful, it didn’t look much like Ning Fei, with a style similar to the goddesses carved by craftsmen these days.

Prince Fiennes actually chose this shape to make the idol. No one knows if his aesthetics are too unique or just because this shape was quick to make.

“Hahaha… Triangle God!” Duan Yunhong’s fast mouth quickly came up with a nickname.

“This isn’t a god to deter nobles; you’re the god in charge of geometry!”

“Shut up; you’re the one who is a dick god!”
