GTB Chapter 94
by VolareChapter 94: Not Even Two Ounces of Meat on Her Body
Seeing that she was finally willing to raise her head, Shí Yan spoke in a calm and gentle tone, “Have a taste. Aunt Xing specially made crispy chicken. It’s quite good.”
“Oh… Thank you.”
After thanking him, Jiang Jiuchu lowered her head and picked up a golden-brown chicken leg from her bowl, nibbling at it in small bites.
In her heart, however, she was shocked by Shí Yan’s actions. She didn’t quite understand what she had said last night that had caused such a big change in him, making his attitude so different.
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but feel a secret joy. If he continued with this attitude, wouldn’t the blankets at night be hers?
Shí Yan watched the woman across from him burying her head in her food. She didn’t seem entirely shy, and seemed to be thinking about something else. Or rather, plotting something?
After the meal, Jiang Jiuchu went straight back to her room. As soon as she reached the wardrobe, she heard the sound of the door opening behind her.
Her hand, which was about to open the wardrobe, stopped. She looked in surprise at Shí Yan, who had followed her in, completely unexpected that he would return to the room so early.
She withdrew her hand from the wardrobe door, turned back, and sat down in front of the dressing table, slowly removing the hairpins and earrings from her hair.
She looked up at the sky outside the window, which was not yet completely dark, and felt that it was very abnormal. He had never returned to the room so early before.
Jiang Jiuchu frowned and pondered in front of the bronze mirror. Combining today’s phenomena, she felt that she had to be a bit self-indulgent. Perhaps this man had taken a fancy to her!
The thought had barely popped into her head when it startled her.
Being fancied by him was not a good thing. Just look at the change in his attitude before and after. This man seemed to do everything as he pleased.
With such a temperament, he would put in some effort to coax you when you were new and interesting to him, but if he became ruthless, he would definitely turn his back on you.
Such a man, and a man with power and influence, would get tired of you before long, no matter how beautiful you were.
Her mother had once said something to her: If a man is to love only one woman from beginning to end, he must not only love you deeply enough, but also have enough sense of responsibility, morality, and self-control.
He must even be as self-disciplined as a woman. If he lacks any of these qualities, love will sooner or later disappear in the face of endless temptations, especially for men with power and influence and numerous temptations.
Therefore, she felt that her Brother Fu could love her for a lifetime. She could tell from the time Brother Fu saved her when she was a child that he was a responsible, responsible, and righteous man.
But the man in front of her was the exact opposite, meeting none of those criteria.
Jiang Jiuchu glanced at the man behind her, her eyes no longer holding any shyness, replaced by wariness.
Shí Yan looked at the woman in the bronze mirror, whose face had changed and whose expression was wary. His eyes deepened imperceptibly, and a nameless fire seemed to spread in his heart.
He walked to the display stand, took out the chessboard, and placed it on the table. He gently waved his folding fan with his left hand and held the white and black pieces in his right hand, playing the game by himself.
After Jiang Jiuchu removed all the jewelry from her body, she turned around and looked at Shí Yan, who was sitting at the table playing with the chess pieces. After thinking for a while, she asked, “Doesn’t Your Highness want to take a bath?”
She wanted to wait for him to finish bathing before she went to bathe herself, otherwise she wouldn’t feel at ease.
Shí Yan’s hand, which was reaching into the chess jar, paused slightly. Then, he smiled and looked at Jiang Jiuchu, “What? Does my beloved concubine want to serve this king in his bath?”
Jiang Jiuchu was stunned by Shí Yan’s words. She had never expected him to say such a thing. In her heart, she thought, “This man really has developed lustful thoughts towards me.”
She gave an awkward smile, easing the shock in her heart, and then said, “I’m clumsy and don’t know how to serve people bathing. I’m just asking. If Your Highness doesn’t want to wash, then I’ll go wash first.”
“Go ahead! This king has no interest in looking at you. You’re not even…” Shí Yan paused and scanned Jiang Jiuchu up and down. He continued, “You don’t even have two ounces of meat on your body. Nothing special.”
Jiang Jiuchu’s small mouth opened slightly, and she stared wide-eyed at Shí Yan, her small face turning green and then red.
She didn’t know if she was shocked by his sudden change in attitude, or embarrassed by his direct exposure of her thoughts, or ashamed and indignant at his demeaning and insulting words.
After a long while, she got up angrily and walked towards the wardrobe. She opened the wardrobe door with a snap, quickly grabbed her clothes, and walked towards the bathing room.
Sitting in the bathtub, Jiang Jiuchu became more and more angry as she thought about it. Then, she slammed her hand on the surface of the water and cursed, “This person is sick! Seriously sick.”
She had wasted her time trying to figure him out with a normal person’s mindset for a day. It was truly like talking to a cow, extremely ridiculous.
She quickly finished washing and, when she picked up her undergarment, she couldn’t help but lower her head and look at her body.
She thought to herself, “A shameless person can really say anything. It’s as if I’ve stripped naked for him to see. Shameless indeed.”
She put on her inner robe and, remembering Shí Yan’s half-open collar last night, she couldn’t help but adjust her clothes several times, making sure they were tightly closed before she stepped out of the bathing room.
She glanced at Shí Yan, who was still playing chess by himself, and then stepped onto the bed. Just as she picked up the blanket to cover herself, she heard Shí Yan’s voice in her ear.
“This prince thinks it’s fairer for whoever wins to get the blanket.”
As he spoke, Shí Yan turned his head to look at the woman on the bed, and asked with a smile, “What do you say, Miss Jiang?”
“Yes.” Jiang Jiuchu looked at Shí Yan’s gaze and slowly put down the blanket in her hand, resigned to her fate, and got out of bed.
She thought to herself, “How could I possibly win against him? I’m afraid I’ll lose the blanket nine times out of ten. How am I supposed to sleep then?”
She walked to the table, preparing to sit down. Her eyes landed on the chessboard where Shí Yan was playing alone. Suddenly, her eyes lit up, and just as she was about to study his chessboard, a clean and slender hand reached over and swept across the board, scattering the chess pieces.
Jiang Jiuchu pouted and sat down, picking up the white pieces while tentatively asking, “Can’t you just let Governess Li leave?”
Shí Yan raised his eyes and glanced at the somewhat discouraged Jiang Jiuchu. “Didn’t I say last night? She can’t leave for the time being.”
“Did you say that? Why? You are the master of this residence. You can just say you’re worried about the Empress Dowager and let her return to the palace to serve her. That should be possible, right?”
Shí Yan’s hand, which was picking up the chess pieces, paused. He raised his eyes and scrutinized Jiang Jiuchu, thinking, “Didn’t she say this last night? Has she forgotten?”
“Don’t you remember saying this last night?”
Jiang Jiuchu paused when she heard this. “Did I… say that?”
Shí Yan didn’t answer, but continued to ask, “Then have you forgotten everything you said and did last night?”
Jiang Jiuchu remembered the blurry images of being kissed in her mind and nodded calmly. “I might have been drunk. I don’t remember anything.”
Shí Yan stopped picking up the chess pieces when he heard this and leaned back in his chair. “So you don’t remember the things you did to me last night?”
“What? I… did things to you?” Jiang Jiuchu couldn’t believe her ears and repeated the question, “You said I… did things to you?”
Shí Yan nodded without blushing or skipping a beat. “Yes.”
