Chapter 189: I Won’t Leave You, Even if I Die

Jiang Jiuchu pulled her hand away from Shí Yan’s grasp and smiled up at him, “I’ve already washed, Husband, you should go wash yourself!”

“Washed?” Shí Yan looked at Jiang Jiuchu with suspicion. Though she was still wearing a white undergarment, the ends of her hair did seem slightly damp.

He smiled and said, “Alright, then I’ll wait for you.”

Jiang Jiuchu watched Shí Yan’s figure quickly disappear into the hidden door, her lips twitching. Were all men so devoted to this sort of thing?

Her eyes darted around, and she walked to the desk by the window, picking up a brush and grinding ink. She then drew two embroidery patterns.

One was of two wild geese flying together, and the other was of two intertwined purple bamboo plants.

When Shí Yan came out after his bath, he saw Jiang Jiuchu tinkering with something at the desk by the window.

He walked over with a smile in his eyes, “What is my wife busy with?”

As he asked, he picked up the two drawings placed to the side.

Jiang Jiuchu rummaged through a basket, pulling out two pieces of fabric and asking, “Husband, what color do you like?”

Shí Yan’s eyes widened slightly, and the corners of his mouth unconsciously lifted. “Chuchu, you choose for me.”

“Then let’s go with this dark gray; it goes with everything.”

Jiang Jiuchu placed the dark gray fabric aside and then took out a piece of white brocade. “Let’s use white for the handkerchief!”

“Alright, I’ll listen to my wife in everything.” Shí Yan finished speaking and looked at the embroidery patterns in his hand, smiling:

“Wishing to be birds that fly wing to wing in the heavens, wishing to be trees with intertwined branches on the earth. I also like the patterns that Chuchu drew.”

Jiang Jiuchu nodded shyly. “It’s good that you like them. Then let’s use this intertwined bamboo for the handkerchief, and this pair of lovebirds for the purse!”

Shí Yan looked at the picture of the two flying geese in his hand, and thought of something hanging on someone’s waist before. He couldn’t say it was exactly the same, but it was not different at all.

Immediately, he felt somewhat uncomfortable and said to Jiang Jiuchu, “I think this one needs to be changed.”

    “Hmm? Changed how?”

Jiang Jiuchu took the drawing from Shí Yan’s hand, not understanding what was wrong with it.

“Not changed, added to.” As Shí Yan spoke, he extended a slender finger, pointing behind the two geese,

“They love each other so much, they must have children. How about adding a few little geese here?”

Jiang Jiuchu was stunned, her heart skipped a beat. She thought, spending so much time with Shí Yan these days, could she be pregnant?

“What’s wrong? Chuchu finds it troublesome?” Shí Yan took the paper from her hand. “Then let’s draw one little goose, a family of three would be even more warm.”

As he spoke, he scooped Jiang Jiuchu up in his arms and walked towards the bed. “It’s bad for your eyes to do this at night, Chuchu can slowly embroider during the day.”

Jiang Jiuchu swallowed and softly called out, “Husband.”

“Mm~” Shí Yan answered in a low, husky voice, gently placing Jiang Jiuchu on the bed. “Does Chuchu have something to say? Or just wants to call out to her husband?”

Jiang Jiuchu hesitated, unsure how to speak without making Shí Yan overthink.

Shí Yan’s lips curved slightly, his hands beneath her untying the ribbon around Jiang Jiuchu’s waist, his eyes filled with desire as he stared at Jiang Jiuchu. “When I start, Chuchu, call out a few more times; your husband loves to hear it.”

After speaking, he was about to kiss Jiang Jiuchu when he was quickly stopped by her small hand, “Husband, my sister-in-law is pregnant this year, and I’m two years younger than her. I was thinking… could I postpone it a bit?”

Shí Yan’s eyes froze, his handsome face pulled back slightly, a pair of phoenix eyes staring straight at Jiang Jiuchu, “But your sister-in-law also married late.”

“But I’m still young, and afraid of the pain. I don’t want to have a big belly and become a mother too early. If the year after next isn’t good, then… next year?”

After Jiang Jiuchu finished speaking, she glanced at Shí Yan and continued, “I heard that giving birth too early is bad for the body.”

“Alright, then next year. I’ll go to the divine doctor tomorrow and have him make a pill that prevents pregnancy without harming the body.”

“Then… Chuer must call out ‘husband’ a few more times later, after all, to delay having children, your husband has to withstand the pressure from the Royal Grandmother.”

“Mm, alright.” Although Jiang Jiuchu didn’t understand what was different between calling him “husband” now and calling him “husband” later, she still nodded in agreement.

Shí Yan looked at the obedient Jiang Jiuchu and lowered his head to kiss her.

He had been unable to avoid some wild thoughts when he first heard it, but only for a moment. He knew that she just wanted to delay it, not that she didn’t want to have children for him, and not that she didn’t love him.

As long as he was sure of that, as long as the medicine wasn’t harmful, he would go along with her, no matter how late.

The bed curtains swayed gently, and soft moans accompanied by heavy breathing poured out from within the curtains.

“Call me husband.” Inside the curtains, Shí Yan looked at Jiang Jiuchu, her skin flushed, her eyes alluring, his voice low and husky.

“Husband… um… Husband.” Although Jiang Jiuchu tried to steady her voice as she spoke, her tone was still uneven. Her originally soft and sweet voice was now hoarse and alluring, like a seductive poison entering Shí Yan’s heart from his ears.

Bringing wave after wave to Jiang Jiuchu.

Under the dim candlelight, Shí Yan looked at the person beneath him, her skin turning pink because of him. In the middle of her scattered dark hair was an absolutely stunning face, capable of bewitching him and burning him to the bone.

He suddenly paused, waiting for Jiang Jiuchu to open her alluring eyes filled with mist, and asked her obstinately and ambiguously:

“Chuchu, if I gave you a chance now, would you leave me?”

Jiang Jiuchu’s blurred eyes, still filled with desire, regained a trace of clarity because of Shí Yan’s question.

She moved her hands from Shí Yan’s waist, hooking them around his neck, and said with a firm tone:

“No, unless you don’t want me or fall in love with another woman, otherwise… even with a knife to my throat, I won’t leave you.”

“I won’t, I only love you. From head to toe, my heart, my person, every inch of my body only loves you, only wants you. I won’t leave you, even if I die.”

Although Shí Yan’s promise was made on the bed, the determined look in his eyes was like the sharpest sword, carving each word into the imperishable Three Lives Stone.

“Mm.” Jiang Jiuchu nodded and leaned in to kiss Shí Yan’s lips.

Love entered her heart, trust entered her lungs. Desire entered the late night, until dawn.

    The Next Day

Jiang Jiuchu slept until mid-afternoon. She rubbed her sore waist and called out towards the door, “Lüluo, Lüyi.”

The two, who were guarding the door, heard this and immediately pushed the door open and entered. “Miss, you’re finally awake.”

Lüluo walked to the bed, asking with some doubt, “Miss, you’re able to sleep this much, could it be that you’re pregnant! Why not ask the family doctor to take a look later.”

Jiang Jiuchu’s face flushed red upon hearing this, thinking, how could she sleep that much, when she clearly only fell asleep at dawn, okay?

She had only said last night that she didn’t want to be a mother so early, yet this maidservant was scaring her like this.

“That’s not the case, I’ve just been having insomnia lately.” After saying this, she asked, “What time is it?”

“It just reached Wei Shi (1-3 PM).” Just as Lüluo finished speaking, Lüyi took the clothes and served Jiang Jiuchu, while saying:

“Miss, guess what the cooks in the kitchen were discussing this morning?”

“What were they discussing?” Jiang Jiuchu straightened her face, thinking, could it be that they were discussing her getting up late every day… doing that!
