Involuntary Symbiosis Chapter 5
byPresident, are you going to meet that Alpha?
Meanwhile, Fu Yaren was chatting with a male Alpha. The Alpha was wearing a suit, holding a document, and reviewing its contents. Fu Yaren impatiently tapped his fingers on the table. The male Alpha looked at the document and his face clearly showed some dissatisfaction: “Your demands are a bit excessive.”
“You naturally have the right to choose. You don’t have to meet with me,” Fu Yaren chuckled lightly and continued, “You also don’t have to sign the contract.”
“Mr. Fu, you should consider the cooperation situation. Although I need your funding, if I don’t sign the contract, you won’t be able to push forward such an investment project in Z Nation, will you?” The male Alpha remained calm. He continued, “For companies like the Xu Group, one-third of the shares have been nationalized. It’s not easy for you to start with the Xu Group.”
“Do you think if it were the Xu Group, they would sign such a contract? Do you think a contract they wouldn’t sign, our company would?” The Alpha handed the contract back to Fu Yaren, his expression polite yet rejecting.
“That’s because they don’t need to. Do you think your company’s conditions can compare to the Xu Group’s?” Fu Yaren wore a faint smile, his eyes showing disdain for the Alpha. “If your situation were the same as the Xu Group’s, would you still come to see me?”
The male Alpha fell silent. Fu Yaren looked relaxed. He took back the contract, smiled, and said, “I won’t pressure you. You always have a choice. Mr. Yu, please consider it carefully.”
After Mr. Yu left, Fu Yaren instinctively felt irritated. He threw the document onto the floor. The assistant picked up the document and asked, “Do you need to revise the document?” Fu Yaren replied, “No need. He’ll come back and sign it anyway.”
“Understood.” The assistant agreed, preparing to put away the document. Just as she was about to leave, Fu Yaren called out to her: “Arrange a Beta for me, just like before.” The assistant was puzzled why Fu Yaren needed a Beta so quickly again, especially since his susceptibility period hadn’t arrived yet.
“Don’t make the same mistake as last time. This time, confirm the identity,” Fu Yaren emphasized. The assistant quickly apologized and promised, “Yes, President Fu, I understand.”
Last time, the Beta went shopping and was supposed to take the elevator to the fifth floor where Fu Yaren’s bedroom was located at the appointed time. However, due to a mix-up, an Alpha ended up entering instead. By the time the Beta arrived, the Alpha had been in the bedroom for quite a while.
When Fu Yaren opened the door, the assistant only saw the President with a white towel wrapped around his waist, his exposed upper body, which was covered in beautiful muscles, bearing various scratch marks. The assistant quickly apologized, but Fu Yaren didn’t blame her, only saying, “Don’t make that mistake again next time.”
“That person…” The assistant hesitated. Fu Yaren smiled and said, “Very pure. Completely inexperienced, but clean.”
The assistant guessed that Fu Yaren probably gave the Alpha a large sum of money afterward. Although she worked for Fu Yaren, she felt some sympathy for that Alpha.
“Forget it, never mind.” Fu Yaren’s words interrupted the assistant’s recollection. The assistant acknowledged him. Seeing the gloom on Fu Yaren’s face, she knew it was best not to linger and finally left.
Fu Yaren felt the fluctuation of his Pheromones. He couldn’t simply attribute it to the susceptibility period. The doctor said that although he was an Enigma, and he was no longer in his early twenties, he truly needed to settle down with an Alpha.
Fu Yaren had many romantic encounters, but settling down with one person was boring.
The assistant arranged for a private doctor to examine him, mainly checking his glands. Based on the Pheromone fluctuations in his glands, the private doctor reached a relatively friendly conclusion. He said, “Mr. Fu, the fluctuation in your Pheromones this time is because your partner is currently in heat. It’s understandable that you are unaware of this kind of fluctuation.”
Because Enigmas are rare and research is limited, the consequences of an Enigma Marking multiple Alphas are unclear. Having only one Alpha partner throughout an Enigma’s life is the safest approach, which is why Fu Yaren only sought Betas during his susceptibility periods.
“Partner?” Fu Yaren thought of that Alpha. The female Beta assistant dared not speak. Fu Yaren was not someone who enjoyed trouble. She looked at Fu Yaren, finding his eyes dark and unclear. She nervously worried about her 250,000 monthly job and asked, “President, how do you think we should handle this?”
The private doctor saw their reaction and realized it was an accidental Marking. He emphasized seriously, “It is best to find your partner. He is currently in heat and urgently needs your Pheromones for comfort. If your partner develops dependence and a sense of security toward you, you will also be able to safely pass through your subsequent susceptibility periods. Please take this seriously.”
The female Beta assistant looked at Fu Yaren, but he merely forced a smile and said, “What does that have to do with me?”
After the doctor left, the female Beta remained silent for a long time before finally speaking: “I apologize, President. It is my fault. I will resign voluntarily.” The female Beta felt terrible; if she hadn’t made a mistake, this wouldn’t have happened.
“Shuhua, you did very well.” Fu Yaren didn’t seem to mind. Shuhua couldn’t gauge Fu Yaren’s true meaning and nervously clenched her hands into fists.
“If you feel guilty, you could go help him resolve his heat,” Fu Yaren said. Shuhua didn’t dare speak. Fu Yaren continued, “I gave him a chance, but he himself was unwilling. I don’t need to waste my time on him, Shuhua, do you understand?”
“I understand…” Shuhua could only agree.
Wang Ling didn’t know how he managed to get through those few days. He woke up groggily, his body still burning hot. Due to the prolonged lack of food intake, his head spun with dizziness. He managed to gather enough strength in his limbs to struggle up from the floor and went to the kitchen to pour himself a cup of hot water. His weak, soft hand couldn’t hold it steady for a moment, and it dropped to the floor. Fortunately, it was a disposable paper cup.
Wang Ling finally managed to get hot water and drank it. He didn’t feel like cooking now, so he ordered some porridge. He didn’t have the strength to shower; trying to wash now might result in him collapsing in the bathroom. He could only lie back down on the bed, but not before injecting an inhibitor into his vein. Wang Ling knew how to take care of himself. He still had work, and he couldn’t let this affect his job or his life.
The person’s phone number surfaced in his mind. Rich people liked to buy phone numbers with special suffixes like 8888. Wang Ling already had a good memory, and Fu Yaren’s number was easy to remember anyway. He looked at the phone lying beside him and remained silent for a long time. The room was filled with the scent of green tangerine mixed with alcohol. The screen had a small crack from when he dropped it earlier. He picked up the phone and made the call.
“Hello.” Shuhua answered the phone. A male Alpha’s voice came through the phone. Shuhua responded, then entered Fu Yaren’s office. Fu Yaren had been in a bad mood these past few days, his face always clouded with gloom. Shuhua looked at his face and cautiously reported, “Mr. Yu is coming over to sign the contract.”
“Fine,” Fu Yaren replied. “He came knocking after all.”
On the other side, Xu Tongxiao was dealing with documents. Nan Ningyue was lying on the office sofa, his face slightly flushed. He looked at Xu Tongxiao’s broad back. He got up, his crimson lips kissing Xu Tongxiao’s ear, and whispered, “Husband, you need to look at me now, not work.”
Xu Tongxiao rubbed his forehead. His senior was extremely clingy and seductive during his heat. He also had to help with his senior’s work. He had originally planned to quickly finish the work at hand before continuing to Mark his senior. However, the fragrance of snow plum emanating from Nan Ningyue made the hand holding the mouse tremble, and his face also flushed red. The other party, unhappy with his lack of attention, showed dissatisfaction, and the snow plum scent gradually became colder. Nan Ningyue turned the chair, hooked his knees onto the chair, used his hand to lift Xu Tongxiao’s chin, and said word by word, “Xu Tongxiao, didn’t I tell you? Mark me.”
Xu Tongxiao smiled and gently said, “Can I finish my work first?” Nan Ningyue sneered, his tone laced with coldness: “I didn’t realize you loved work so much?” Xu Tongxiao released his ginger Pheromones to soothe him. He affectionately kissed Nan Ningyue’s fingertips and said, “Once I finish the work at hand, you can have it for as long as you want, okay?”
At this moment, the phone rang. Nan Ningyue looked at the phone. Xu Tongxiao looked at him and soothed, “I’ll answer it. Wait for me, okay?”
Xu Tongxiao picked up Nan Ningyue’s phone and answered the call. Xu Tongxiao glanced at Nan Ningyue, who had sat back down on the sofa, and replied, “He’s busy. I’m answering for him.” Xu Tongxiao was clearly in a good mood and immediately agreed to Wang Ling’s request for a few more days off.
After hanging up the phone, Xu Tongxiao walked over to Nan Ningyue and kissed his cheek. Nan Ningyue, however, was thinking seriously. He looked at Xu Tongxiao and asked, “Wang Ling’s reason for taking leave was to accompany his partner through heat. Last time you said Wang Ling’s Pheromones were Fu Yaren’s.”
“So you mean Wang Ling is in heat now.” Xu Tongxiao understood. He knew that both Alphas and Omegas could sense their partner’s heat or susceptibility period, and Enigmas were naturally no exception. If his guess was correct, Wang Ling might already be entangled with Fu Yaren.
“Wang Ling is truly pitiful,” Xu Tongxiao sighed. “Running into such trouble.” He wasn’t sure if this counted as an intimate relationship by common standards, and he felt that Fu Yaren didn’t seem like the type to take responsibility.
“If it’s a temporary Marking, that’s fine, but if it’s a permanent Marking, it will be even more troublesome.” Nan Ningyue was naturally not one to invite trouble, but Wang Ling’s situation, coupled with his empathy and a sense of foreboding, compelled him to intervene. Should he contact Fu Yaren directly? That was ridiculous. Making decisions for others without their consent was not respecting their choice.
“Everything depends on Wang Ling’s own wishes,” Nan Ningyue replied.
Fu Yaren showed a faint smile and extended his hand, which was covered by a black velvet glove, saying, “Mr. Yu, happy cooperation.” Mr. Yu looked at Fu Yaren’s hand, his face devoid of any smile. Finally, he forced a smile and shook Fu Yaren’s hand, politely saying, “Happy cooperation.”
After Mr. Yu left, Shuhua organized the documents, preparing to put them in the safe. Fu Yaren’s voice stopped her: “Shuhua, did that Alpha call you?” Shuhua reported truthfully: “No.”
Fu Yaren rubbed his fingertips, chuckled, and said, “Alright. He gave up himself, so it’s not me being heartless.” Shuhua couldn’t hold back anymore. She opened her mouth and asked, “Are you really not going to check on him? Heat is truly agonizing.”
Fu Yaren looked at Shuhua, questioning, “Are you trying to morally bind me?” Shuhua felt a chill down her spine and admitted her mistake: “I wouldn’t dare.” Fu Yaren smiled with coldness and told Shuhua, “Your job right now is to be a good assistant. Arrange a Beta for me when I’m in my susceptibility period. As for other things, don’t worry about them, okay?”
Shuhua tightly clutched the documents in her hand and nodded, “Yes, President Fu.”
The severity of a partner’s heat could affect an Enigma’s Pheromones and emotions. Fu Yaren felt the change in his Pheromones and his inner turmoil, feeling a sense of novelty and a slight admiration for Wang Ling—to still cling to his self-respect even in this state.
