Intimate Trial Chapter 11
byChapter 11
At her workstation, Shen Silin stared at the computer screen, her fingertips hovering above the keyboard, yet she hesitated to type. The cursor on the open document blinked quietly, waiting for input, but her mind was completely occupied by the scene she had just witnessed in the CEO’s Office.
According to her investigation and knowledge, the current generation of the Ye family had only one daughter: Ye Chang. This was public information, a fact she had repeatedly confirmed years ago when researching her competitor.
So, who was the girl in the wheelchair in the office—the one Ye Chang tacitly allowed to stay in the CEO’s Office, treated with a rare gentleness, and who personally called Ye Chang “Auntie”?
If she were a distant relative’s child, the relationship wouldn’t be this intimate, nor would she casually appear in Ye Chang’s most private, core working area. It was well known that Ye Chang had an extremely strong sense of personal territory.
Another possibility… Shen Silin’s heart inexplicably skipped a beat. Could she be Ye Chang’s own child? This thought was instantly dismissed. Given Ye Chang’s age, the rumors of her being single and unmarried, and the girl appearing to be at least eleven or twelve, while not entirely impossible on the timeline, the probability was extremely low. It also severely contradicted Ye Chang’s public image and known trajectory.
The most likely scenario might be that her information was wrong, and Ye Chang actually had an unknown elder sister? But given the depth of her investigation back then, this possibility was also slim.
Or perhaps… the “Auntie” the girl referred to was not a blood relation, but a closer, guardian-like title?
Countless questions and conjectures churned in Shen Silin’s mind. This unexpected discovery was like a stone thrown into the portrait of Ye Chang she thought was relatively clear, stirring up layers of fog. Ye Chang’s image in her mind became more complex and three-dimensional, but also harder to grasp.
She realized that her understanding of Ye Chang might still be very superficial. The commercial ruthlessness, the cool strategy—these were just one side of Ye Chang facing the world. Beneath the iceberg lay a completely unknown, private domain belonging to Ye Chang, one that might be softer and more complex.
This discovery gave Shen Silin a subtle feeling. On one hand, this might be an opportunity to understand Ye Chang more deeply; on the other hand, the unknown meant variables and risks. That girl was clearly very important to Ye Chang.
She took a deep breath, forcing her attention back to the screen in front of her. She had an important video conference in the afternoon, and she couldn’t afford to be distracted. Ye Chang’s private matters were not her priority right now.
However, the image of the quiet girl in the wheelchair was deeply imprinted in her mind, intertwining with Ye Chang’s calm face, forming a larger and more compelling mystery.
She steadied herself, and her fingertips finally landed on the keyboard, allowing her to focus on work. But in a corner of her heart, she had silently added “clarifying the girl’s identity and true relationship with Ye Chang” to the list of things requiring careful investigation. This was no longer mere curiosity; it was one of the crucial pieces of information she needed to master if she wanted to establish herself by Ye Chang’s side, and even more long-term… achieve her goals.
A knock sounded on the office door, rhythmic and restrained.
“Come in,” Ye Chang’s voice called out.
The door opened, and a girl who looked similar in age to Su Yu entered, though she was much taller and sturdier than Su Yu in the wheelchair. She wore a simple T-shirt and sweatpants, with a solid build, healthy tan skin, and neat short hair. Her eyes were steady, and her movements carried a competence and alertness unbefitting her age. Upon entering, her gaze quickly swept the room, pausing briefly where Shen Silin had stood, before settling on Ye Chang and Su Yu.
“General Manager Ye,” the girl said, her voice clear and articulation crisp, bowing slightly toward Ye Chang. “I’m here to take Miss out for dinner.”
Her titles were formal: “General Manager Ye” and “Miss,” clearly defining the boundaries.
Ye Chang looked up, saw the person, and nodded normally. “Mm. Wu Qi, which restaurant did you book today?”
“As you instructed, I booked Jinglu Restaurant. The private room is reserved, and the dishes have been adjusted according to Miss’s preferences and the nutritionist’s recommendations,” the girl, Wu Qi, answered methodically.
“Good.” Ye Chang looked at Su Yu. “Su Yu, go with Wu Qi. Go straight home to rest after dinner. Don’t forget your Physical Therapy this afternoon.”
“Got it, Auntie,” Su Yu replied, maneuvering her electric wheelchair toward the door. Wu Qi immediately stepped forward, but did not rashly take over, instead walking half a step behind and to the side of the wheelchair, maintaining a distance that allowed her to assist at any moment without overstepping.
As she passed the desk, Su Yu’s gaze seemed to flick very quickly over the title of a document on Ye Chang’s desk before calmly moving away. Wu Qi kept her eyes straight ahead, only nodding slightly to Ye Chang again before exiting.
The office door closed softly.
Ye Chang’s gaze lingered on the door for a moment. Wu Qi was the companion and security assistant she had carefully selected for Su Yu. She came from a reputable security family, was professionally trained, meticulous, highly skilled, and most importantly, possessed a steady and reliable temperament, allowing her to understand and cater to Su Yu’s special needs well. With Wu Qi present, Ye Chang could feel slightly more at ease.
She refocused on her work, though her thoughts were still slightly drawn away. Su Yu’s desire to Skip Grades, Wu Qi’s steady reliability, and also…
