IM Chapter 2
by VolareChapter 2
When Shang Jue was a child, he was like a porcelain doll, lively and cheerful, standing out among many children his age. Although young, he had a sweet tongue and a very pleasing personality, making Shen ChiTai like him from the start.
Shang Jue also liked to stick to the omega, his little hand tugging at his sleeve, following closely behind, just like the cats in the shop rubbing their heads against people’s legs, afraid that a blink of an eye or a loosening of his grip would make him disappear without a trace.
Now, the alpha is much more stable than before, with a tall and handsome figure, sharp eyebrows and bright eyes. His slender phoenix eyes complemented his dark and deep black pupils, sparkling like an affectionate, large dog.
“I’ve been busy with things at the shop lately, and I can’t spare any time. I didn’t mean to neglect you,” Shen ChiTai said apologetically, subtly retreating from the alpha’s embrace.
Shang Jue pouted in mock complaint, acting like a spoiled child, “I’m not angry. I just think it’s important that I only heard about my brother dating today.”
Shen ChiTai didn’t expect him to react this way after finding out he was dating. The omega helplessly closed his eyes and pursed his lips into a slight smile, “A Jue, I’m at an age where I should be dating.”
Dating, meeting parents, entering the hall of marriage – everything was just happening step by step.
“Of course, it’s no problem for you to date,” Shang Jue’s expression darkened where he couldn’t be seen. In the moment he lowered his eyes, the color of his deep pupils became even more intense.
He glanced at the omega’s profile for a long time, then chuckled softly and asked casually, “Is the other person also an alpha?”
“He’s a beta.”
“A beta? You like betas?”
Seeing his strong reaction, Shen ChiTai frowned slightly and said softly, “Whether he’s an alpha or a beta, I don’t care as long as he treats me well.” He tilted his head and looked at Shang Jue again, “A Jue, what’s wrong with you today?”
He felt that Shang Jue was acting strange today, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on what was so strange.
The alpha looked at him intently, a fleeting coldness in his eyes, but when he looked up again, he smiled casually, “Do you think he treats you well? What am I saying, if he didn’t, you wouldn’t have been dating him for so long.”
Speaking of this, he felt even more aggrieved, and even the corners of his mouth, which usually held a well-behaved smile, slowly turned down. “But you’re really heartless. It’s one thing to hide this from Father, but you even hid it from me. I’m angry.”
Someone crossed their arms and stomped their feet, very angry, their face full of the words “I need to be coaxed.”
Shen ChiTai’s gaze lingered on the alpha’s face for a moment. For a moment, he seemed to think of someone, and a hint of tenderness unconsciously appeared in his eyes.
“Okay, I really shouldn’t have kept this from you. Considering I’m your brother, can you please not be angry with me this time?” The omega patiently and habitually coaxed him.
“I don’t remember my father giving me a brother,” Shang Jue turned his head away and pouted, looking unhappy and no longer speaking.
The risk of omega childbirth was already very high. His father had a premature birth when he gave birth to him, and only survived with great difficulty, but his mother didn’t make it.
When he was six years old, Shang Lü married another woman, who brought with her an older brother who was three years older than him.
The man’s original intention was that he was still young and needed someone to take care of him. Shang Lü had just taken over the company at that time and was too busy to split himself in two, making it difficult to balance children and work.
Moreover, the alpha was young at the time, and with his excellent family background, there were many people eager to propose marriage, even for a second marriage. He clearly had better, more well-matched options, but he insisted on marrying Shen ChiTai’s mother.
Who was also his assistant at the time.
Six-year-old Shang Jue met Shen ChiTai for the first time. The boy was taller than him, very gentle, and his voice was like a big brother next door. He would squat down and pinch his tense little face, and would hold his hand and run quickly on the grass behind the house. When they were tired from running, they would lie on the ground together, watching the white clouds floating in the blue sky and the colorful butterflies fluttering in the flower bushes.
At that time, he really liked Shen ChiTai.
He was willing to be the omega’s tagalong.
Afraid of leaving a bad impression on him. So for so many years, he had been very well-behaved and obedient.
“I don’t care if you like cats or dogs, or who you’re with, just don’t bring the scent on your body back,” the corners of his lips curved down as if carefully designed, his expression clearly aggrieved, but he pretended to be very generous, “Otherwise, I don’t want you as my brother anymore.”
Shen ChiTai’s expression froze slightly when he heard this.
Don’t want him as his brother?
This was the first time he had heard such words from Shang Jue.
When he first came to this family, he was worried that he wouldn’t get along well with Shang Jue. But unexpectedly, Shang Jue was very attached to him and always loved to follow behind him, calling him “brother” in a soft, milky voice.
Although the two were not related by blood, their relationship had always been very good.
Shang Jue took half a step forward, lowered his eyes to look at him, wrapped his arms around his waist and hugged him, and rubbed his cheek affectionately against his shoulder.
The two were too close, and Shen ChiTai’s first reaction was to raise his hand and push him away, but when he looked up and saw Shang Jue’s unhappy expression, and the arms around his waist were still contracting, tightly gripping him and unwilling to let go,
The omega was stunned for a moment and didn’t move.
“When will you be done with the things at the shop?” the alpha muttered in his ear.
Shen ChiTai heard a hint of questioning in his words, but it sounded very much like coquetry, like a poor little kitten locked in the shop all day without anyone to take care of it.
He raised his head, staring at the alpha’s aggrieved big eyes, seeing that his mood was a little low, and still acting like a child, he softly coaxed, “Xingqiao doesn’t know what he’s busy with lately. I’ll have time when he’s done with this, and I’ll make you whatever you want to eat.”
“I thought you were deliberately staying at the shop to avoid me,” Shang Jue rested his chin on his shoulder and rubbed it, still feeling low, and said self-pityingly, “After all, I’ve always loved to follow you around since I was a kid, and now that you have a boyfriend, I can understand if you think I’m superfluous and in the way.”
Shen ChiTai suspected that he was blaming him, but the omega had no evidence.
He couldn’t figure out how Shang Jue’s brain circuits were so strange, and he was afraid of being misunderstood, so he explained, “Don’t think wildly. Why would I avoid you?”
Shang Jue’s expression visibly brightened when he heard this, his tone mixed with a few undisguised excitement.
Shen ChiTai also breathed a sigh of relief. This person had been like this since he was a child, with all his emotions on his face, easy to read, and he liked this kind of Shang Jue very much.
The alpha hugged Shen ChiTai’s waist even tighter, his lips almost touching his face, “Then do you think I’m being childish by always sticking to you like this?”
“How could I? You’re just young at heart.”
Shang Jue “poofed” and laughed when he heard this, very pleasant to hear, “…Brother.”
Shen ChiTai raised his head to meet his gaze and said with a smile, “Are you a dog? Why are you so clingy?”
“I only cling to you, even if I’m a dog, I’ll only be your dog.” Someone smiled contentedly, his expression very cheeky as he said this.
The omega was stunned for two seconds, then turned his face away.
“What nonsense are you talking about?”
Being a dog or something, he had never thought about it.
Shang Jue just kept giggling and didn’t say much, “Then, brother, can we sleep together tonight?”
Shen ChiTai’s pupils shook slightly, his expression slightly frozen, “Isn’t this just nonsense? How can an omega sleep with an alpha?” Even if they could, they would have to be partners, at least with a reasonable reason.
Shang Jue’s eyes changed imperceptibly, and then he complained with a aggrieved look, “Sure enough, you still think I’m childish, right? It’s my fault for making things difficult for you because of this stupid thing. You have a boyfriend now, and it’s right to avoid suspicion.”
“…” What kind of twisted logic is this? “A Jue, you’re an alpha. Did the teacher not tell you in physiology class that omegas and alphas cannot be alone in the same room for a long time?”
“I don’t remember, I think they did say that.” Someone pouted and tilted his head, looking completely nonchalant.
“…”
Shen ChiTai organized his words for a few seconds, and finally turned them all into a sigh. He heard him pouting and saying, “You still don’t believe me, do you? You also think I’m like those alphas outside who covet omegas, you think it’s dangerous to be with me, you don’t trust me.”
Shen ChiTai was stunned by his seemingly flawless words, and for a moment he even felt that he was the one in the wrong.
When they were young, Shang Jue often insisted on sleeping with him like this, until Shen ChiTai’s second differentiation ended before they separated rooms.
Shang Jue would occasionally complain that he couldn’t sleep alone, and secretly sneak into his room behind his father’s back and play rogue, refusing to leave.
Shen ChiTai initially didn’t think much of it, thinking that he wasn’t in heat, so he didn’t take it seriously, until Shang Jue differentiated into an alpha at the age of sixteen.
When they were alone in the same room for a long time, his pheromones would be affected by the alpha and become unstable, and this happened more than once.
From then on, the two completely separated rooms.
The danger of alphas and omegas being alone together goes without saying. He thought that Shang Jue should know these common sense things better than anyone else. It’s better to be safe than sorry. It’s okay if nothing happens, but if something really happens, he can’t afford the risk.
Shang Jue affectionately nuzzled the omega’s neck.
Shen ChiTai helplessly pushed his shoulder, his brows furrowing slightly, “A Jue, don’t be willful.”
Shang Jue frowned, the hostility in his eyes fleeting.
“Willful? So you think I’m being willful.” He said, letting go of the omega on his own, a smile on his lips, but his tone was not without a few moments of loneliness: “Since you’ve said so, wouldn’t it be pointless for me to pester you?”
The smile in his eyes gradually faded, and before Shen ChiTai could speak, he took the lead in saying good night, drooping his head and turning around, leaving the omega with a back view of extreme lack of love, “I’ll go back to my room to sleep first, you should rest early too.”
The moment Shang Jue turned around, his face turned cold where his brother couldn’t see, and he strode back to the room next door with his long legs.
Shen ChiTai was stunned behind him for two seconds, until he heard a clear and short closing sound in his ear, and the omega belatedly came back to his senses and said a very soft good night to the already closed door.
Perhaps because he had just noticed the little emotions in the alpha’s words, he was still a little distracted after Shang Jue left.
Is A Jue angry with him?
