    Chapter 59: Bullseye!

Gu Nian suddenly glanced at the stall owner beside him, the corners of his lips curving up as he picked up another ring.

This time, he didn’t aim carefully, but threw it directly—his expression exceptionally calm, as if he already knew the outcome.

    “Clang,”

This time, it wasn’t the crisp sound of a ring hitting the ground.

The ring landed firmly around the little yellow duck’s neck.

Lin Sui immediately excitedly pounced on Gu Nian and hugged his neck, excitedly saying, “Gu Nian, you got it! You can even get it from so far away, you’re amazing!”

The smile on Gu Nian’s lips widened slightly, the cold, hard lines of his face softening under Lin Sui’s cheers, revealing a hint of boyish triumph.

The stall owner looked at Gu Nian in surprise but didn’t take it to heart, assuming it was just a sudden burst of luck.

To show his credibility, the owner very readily handed the little yellow duck to Lin Sui, smiling, “Handsome, you’re lucky, but let’s get this straight, once these rings are bought, they can’t be returned.”

“No need to return them.” Gu Nian’s slender fingers brushed the edge of the ring, a glint of light flashing in his eyes.

When his fingers moved away, a small piece of dark gray material was gone.

Lin Sui lovingly stroked the little yellow duck’s fluff, his amber eyes sparkling in the streetlights as he asked the stall owner beside him, “Can this record sound?”

“Yes, it can.” The stall owner said, “Turn it over, there’s a switch on the bottom, press it twice to record, press it once to play, and press it three times to turn it off.”

While the two were talking, Gu Nian had already thrown another ring, causing a few exclamations from the surrounding crowd.

The stall owner’s expression changed, and he immediately turned to look.

Sure enough, one less ring was in the hand of the man sitting in the wheelchair, and it was now hanging on the second-farthest remote control car.

“Wow, he’s amazing, that’s two in a row.”

“Yeah, I’ve been watching since just now. You don’t know how funny it was just now; this handsome guy’s companion threw thirty and didn’t get one, but who knew his friend was so good.”

The whispers of passersby mixed with the scent of the night market, and Lin Sui stopped playing with the little yellow duck, looking unhappily at the person who spoke.

What do you mean funny! He just had bad luck!

The stall owner hurriedly walked over, looked at Gu Nian suspiciously for a long time, and said with a stiff neck, “No, no, that’s too biased. The car is only hanging on by less than half, it has to be completely inside to count!”

“Hey, boss, you didn’t say that before.” An enthusiastic onlooker, not afraid of things getting lively, deliberately shouted, “Are you just a sore loser? Why didn’t you say you had to get the whole thing in to count just now?”

The stall owner choked, then started playing rogue, “Just now, I thought that young man was too pitiful, so I counted it! This time, no way, these cars cost me over a hundred each. What’s wrong with having higher standards?”

This explanation convinced some people, who then started heckling Gu Nian, “Handsome, why don’t you try again and knock the boss down a peg!”

Gu Nian’s expression never changed from beginning to end. He casually threw the ring. Others thought he was just venting in frustration, but to their surprise, the ring actually completely encircled the small car!

Perfectly fitted, perfectly meeting the owner’s requirements, leaving him no room to deny it.

The stall owner was dumbfounded, but he had already gone back on his word once. If he did it again, he could forget about doing business. So, in the end, he reluctantly put the small car in Lin Sui’s hand.

Lin Sui was holding a little yellow duck in his left hand and a small car in his right hand, almost giddy with happiness.

“Boss, that bear can’t require the entire thing to be encircled, right?” Gu Nian suddenly asked.

The plush bear, the ultimate prize, was more than half a person tall, and the ring was so small that it couldn’t even fit over its head.

As soon as he said this, the audience immediately became excited, with several people giving Gu Nian a thumbs-up in admiration, and more people urging the stall owner, deliberately fueling the fire, “Boss, are you still going to say you have to get the whole thing in? Or are you just a sore loser?”

The stall owner glared at the person who spoke, thought for a moment, and said, “I’ll write a note and put it there. If you encircle it, it’s yours.”

After saying that, without waiting for Gu Nian to answer, he immediately wrote a note to replace the plush bear, and deliberately moved it back several meters.

“Hey, boss, are you deliberately making things difficult for him!” Someone shouted after noticing.

The stall owner was very honest this time, confidently admitting his weakness, “This bear cost me several hundred to buy. Giving it away like that would leave me with nothing!”

The person who spoke didn’t expect him to answer so honestly and immediately lost interest in teasing him, turning his head excitedly to watch Gu Nian throw the ring.

Gu Nian squinted his eyes, his expression a little serious, completely different from his previous light and breezy demeanor, making the viewers nervous, feeling like they were watching a sports competition.

A dozen seconds later, Gu Nian flicked his wrist, and the ring flew out quickly, landing just a few centimeters away from the note.

Lin Sui was squatting next to Gu Nian. As the best spot to watch, he saw everything clearly. He swallowed his sigh of regret with great effort, afraid of disturbing Gu Nian’s focus.

Gu Nian then threw three more in a row, each one only a little bit away from the target, as if the next one would definitely hit. This feeling of dangling a carrot in front of him made everyone hold their breath, feeling anxious and restless.

Lin Sui grabbed the edge of Gu Nian’s wheelchair, his eyes wide, as nervous and expectant as a cat seeing something new.

Gu Nian looked down at him, smiled.

Perhaps the doting meaning in that smile was too strong, or perhaps it was some strange human instinct, but Lin Sui suddenly became ten times more nervous, a strong premonition welling up in his heart—this time it would definitely work.

With this thought, the ring left his hand, drawing a perfect arc in the air, falling almost directly above the note—

At this moment, everyone couldn’t help but hold their breath!

    “Clang—”

The crisp sound of the ring hitting the ground rang out. After turning a few times on the ground, it steadily encircled the note!

    “Holy shit! Awesome!”

A chorus of “holy shits” rang out, even including the stall owner himself, although others were excited, he was purely heartbroken.

“Handsome, let’s make a deal.” The stall owner secretly nudged Gu Nian, whispering, “I can give you this bear, but can you please stop now? I really can’t afford to lose any more on my small business.”

Gu Nian originally played this game because Lin Sui liked the bear. Hearing this, he looked at Lin Sui, whose eyes were sparkling and still immersed in the moment, and softly asked, “Is there anything else you want?”

Lin Sui thought for a moment and said, “Can I try again myself?”

Gu Nian didn’t say anything, directly stuffing the rings into Lin Sui’s arms.

The stall owner immediately looked bitter, feeling like he had lost all hope, “I’ll give them to you after you’re done playing, it’s hard for you to carry them now.”

Lin Sui solemnly accepted the rings. Before throwing, he thought for a moment, then cupped Gu Nian’s hands and rubbed them three times, as if rubbing a magic lamp, feeling that he had absorbed enough good luck before standing up. His expression was like that of a young general about to go on an expedition, with a solemnity that didn’t fit the scene.

Many people were amused by this expression, cheering for Lin Sui.

Lin Sui looked intently at the second-closest star bracelet, took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and recalled Gu Nian’s movements in his mind. He flicked his wrist, and the ring flew out swiftly—

But for a long time, there was no sound of it landing. Lin Sui opened his eyes blankly, a question mark popping up on his head.

Strange, he couldn’t even see the ring.

Could it be that he used too much force and threw it out of sight?

Lin Sui secretly thought, turning his head and searching for a long time, suddenly hearing someone gasp softly.

“Look at that handsome guy’s head—”

Lin Sui paused slightly, suddenly thinking of something, and abruptly turned his head to look at Gu Nian, who was on his left.

    The case was solved!

Gu Nian also looked like he didn’t know what was happening, looking down at the newly made ring around his neck, stunned for a long time before he couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Hahahaha.” Gu Nian supported his forehead with his hand, laughing uncontrollably.

Lin Sui awkwardly touched his head, feeling a little embarrassed, but seeing Gu Nian laughing so happily, Lin Sui couldn’t help but laugh as well.

“Is this… Cupid’s, ring?” In the quiet crowd, someone said this.

Everyone was amused by this comical sentence.

    “Brother, you’re really talented!”

“Hahahaha, just get together already, this is the guidance of fate!”

“By the way, how did he throw it on that person? So magical…”

Lin Sui laughed until his stomach hurt. He also heard the joke about Cupid’s ring and mischievously deliberately asked Gu Nian, “The god of love says you’re mine, will you give yourself to me?”

Gu Nian was laughing breathlessly. Hearing this, he answered without hesitation, “Yes!”

Such a thin word was said so forcefully, that even the noisy environment couldn’t drown out the decisiveness revealed in this short syllable.

This answer pushed the atmosphere to its peak. Almost everyone regarded this as a joke in response to the atmosphere, but only Lin Sui knew very well that Gu Nian was serious.

Lin Sui smiled like a cat that had stolen cream, with a wonderful feeling that everyone else was drunk, but he was the only one awake.

Clearly, he and Gu Nian had never concealed their relationship, but now there was a hint of a secret love affair.

Afterwards, Lin Sui simply put all the rings on Gu Nian. Finally, he took out his mobile phone to take a photo as a souvenir before reluctantly returning the rings to the stall owner.

He also scanned the QR code next to him and paid two hundred yuan.

“See you next time, boss!” Lin Sui waved his hand, pushing Gu Nian away from this lively place.

It was already nine o’clock in the evening, and the night market finally unveiled its true face. The stalls were lined up side by side, and people walked by together, laughing and talking. There were so many delicious and fun things that everyone had no time to pay attention to other people—except for Gu Nian.

It wasn’t because Gu Nian was too handsome, but because the things he was holding made it impossible to ignore him.
