    Chapter 4: Making a Scene

The pastor’s voice droned on in my ear, reciting the vows with the flat intonation of a machine. The entire auditorium was so quiet that only his voice could be heard, and Lin Sui was starting to feel drowsy. He mechanically repeated the responses, snapping awake when it came time to exchange rings.

The ring box was presented by a flower girl. Lin Sui, knowing his place, stepped forward to accept it and glanced down.

    Wow.

    He was nearly blinded.

These had to be ten carats, right? Wasn’t it said that the protagonist was penniless except for a house at this time? Just selling these rings would be worth a lot of money.

Oh right, this wedding was arranged single-handedly by Gu Nian’s grandfather. Although the old man wasn’t able to see it, these rings were probably his doing.

    Lin Sui felt slightly relieved.

Although diamonds aren’t as good as gold for preserving value, such big ones should be able to sell for a lot of money. If he really couldn’t afford to eat in the future, he could sell them and make a small fortune. Grandpa Gu was truly farsighted.

Lin Sui paused slightly, turned, and then, in full view of the crowd—squatted down.

The audience, who had been wearing mocking expressions, were stunned by this sight. Even Gu Nian himself revealed a hint of surprise.

Rarely did his thoughts align with others.

What new method of causing trouble was this?

Lin Sui was completely unaware of all this. He took the ring out of the box, carefully lifted Gu Nian’s hand resting flat on his knee, and solemnly slid the ring slowly onto his ring finger.

The brilliant diamond refracted dazzling light in the sunlight, making Lin Sui, who was wearing the ring, look even more saintly.

After putting it on, he couldn’t help but gently squeeze Gu Nian’s hand, thinking that it was so cold, he would have to find a cup of hot water to warm it up later.

Gu Nian stiffened for a moment, looking incredulously at the young man kneeling on one knee to put the ring on him.

No matter how you looked at it, this was a gesture of submission, tinged with considerate tenderness.

From Gu Nian’s perspective, he could even see the smile and faint worry in the young man’s eyes, as if the other person really loved him and felt sorry for him.

This thought made Gu Nian subconsciously pull his hand back. Lin Sui didn’t mind, stuffed the other ring into his hand, and tilted his head as he looked up at the man, his eyes crinkling with a smile.

The joy in that smile couldn’t be faked. Gu Nian took a deep look at his little husband and put the ring on for him.

The pastor said, “Then may the groom kiss the bride—”

    “Wait!”

Someone in the audience suddenly stood up, holding a mobile phone in his hand, his face written all over with malicious intent.

Lin Sui didn’t recognize him, but the voice sounded somewhat familiar, and a bad premonition arose in his heart.

“Wait!” Zhang Xu looked at Lin Sui on the stage, who looked completely blank, and cursed ‘bitch acting virtuous’ in his heart, pretending to be casual with a sneer. “Nian-ge, today is such a great day, I originally didn’t want to disturb you.”

He paused, his gaze sweeping pitifully over Gu Nian’s lower body, shaking his head and sighing, “But I thought about it, and since you’re already like this, it would be too inhumane of me to keep quiet. So today I’ll let everyone see the true face of this little bitch. Nian-ge, you wouldn’t blame me for speaking out of turn, right?”

Zhang Xu addressed him as “Ge” with every other word, and deliberately used honorifics in a strange tone, but his tone lacked respect. He looked smugly at Gu Nian’s expressionless face, waiting to see him make a fool of himself.

The moment Zhang Xu opened his mouth and said the first sentence, the color completely drained from Lin Sui’s face—he finally remembered why the voice sounded familiar!

Wasn’t this the antagonist who wanted to seduce him into eloping? He didn’t run away with him, but the other party had actually made a scene at the wedding!

What’s worse, what the other party said was true, although it was all done by the original owner of this body, there was no way to explain those chat logs.

Scenes of the original body’s ending in the book began to play in Lin Sui’s mind one after another: broken legs, a miserable death in the streets. Thinking about the protagonist’s vindictiveness, Lin Sui felt despair.

Help, he’s doomed from the start, can he even survive to the grand finale?
