AMTBYIGA Chapter 29
by VolareChapter 29: Licking Fingers
“Why are you standing there like an idiot?” Gu Nian closed his book, slightly raising an eyebrow. “Come here.”
Lin Sui “oh”ed and walked over stiffly, sitting cautiously on the edge of the sofa. His legs were together, hands on his knees, so well-behaved it seemed like two furry ears were about to sprout from his head, softly resting there.
Gu Nian dispelled the fantasy and coughed. “Sit closer, I won’t eat you.”
Lin Sui moved a little bit closer.
There was still a large distance between them.
Gu Nian clicked his tongue, not dwelling on it. He asked nonchalantly, “You were smiling so happily when you came in. What happened today?”
Lin Sui scratched his face, embarrassed to say that he was secretly treating Gu Nian as his family. So, he took out the shopping bag next to him and presented it to Gu Nian like a treasure, beaming. “I made money! This is a gift for you!”
Gu Nian took it, but his eyes didn’t fall on the paper bag. “Besides this?”
Lin Sui: “?” He looked up blankly. “What else could there be?”
Gu Nian’s eyes darkened, a fierce look flashed in his eyes, but his tone didn’t reveal a thing. “Nothing. What did you buy?”
Lin Sui’s attention was immediately diverted. He couldn’t wait to urge, “Open it and see. You’ll definitely like it.”
Gu Nian saw a black and white blanket.
The blanket was of good quality, clearly a high-end product. However, Gu Nian didn’t even reach out. After a glance, he closed the bag, his expression unreadable. “Mm.”
Mm?
What did that mean?
Didn’t he like it?
Lin Sui visibly became uneasy. The little soft hair that had been sticking up drooped down on his head, like a child who had done something wrong. “It’s okay if you don’t like it. I’ll buy you something else next time.”
A pang of sourness spread in Gu Nian’s chest. He unconsciously reached out and placed his hand on Lin Sui’s head, his voice low and unfamiliar. “It’s not that I don’t like it.”
Lin Sui perked up and forced a smile. “It’s really okay. I should have asked you beforehand.”
Gu Nian pursed his lips. He felt that not only was his chest uncomfortable, but he was also restless all over. His tone had a hint of urgency. “It’s really not that I don’t like it… It’s just that my legs have no feeling. I can’t use it.”
His voice was so strained, as if it was forced out of his throat, and he couldn’t hide the embarrassment no matter how hard he tried.
Lin Sui was stunned for a moment, then frowned unhappily. He turned to look into Gu Nian’s eyes and emphasized seriously, “You’ll recover sooner or later. It’s not good to be careless and not keep warm now. You’ll get rheumatism when you’re old.” Lin Sui touched the large hand on his head. “Let’s not talk about the future for now. Every time I touch your hand, it’s cold. You have to keep warm so you don’t catch a cold.”
Gu Nian was silent for a long time before saying, “Do you really think I can stand up?”
Lin Sui’s face was full of conviction. “You’re so good and so amazing. Of course, you can.”
Gu Nian rarely showed a bewildered expression, unable to say a word.
Lin Sui puffed out his cheeks and stopped talking. He took out the blanket and draped it over Gu Nian. “Just pretend I’m begging you, okay? I’ll be worried if you get sick. At least keep your hands warm. Always having such a low body temperature will affect your kidney function.”
After he finished speaking, he even glanced at Gu Nian’s lower body and sighed softly, his face full of worry.
Gu Nian was pulled back from his emotions by this sigh. With a dark face, he dragged the audacious little cat back to his original position. “Don’t look at those nonsense things on Baidu. Even a cold can turn into a terminal illness.”
Lin Sui was unconvinced and took out his phone, wanting to show Gu Nian that it was a reputable doctor who said it. But Gu Nian didn’t want to see it at all and raised his hand to pull off the blanket.
Lin Sui didn’t care about proving himself and quickly pressed down on it, batting his eyes to sell misery. “Just wear it, okay? I used almost all of my first earnings to buy this.”
Seeing that Gu Nian didn’t seem to be moved, Lin Sui quickly opened the chocolate jar and took out a piece, stuffing it into Gu Nian’s mouth.
The slightly bitter, mellow aroma of chocolate spread on the tip of his tongue. Gu Nian instinctively resisted, but his tongue accidentally licked Lin Sui’s finger.
Both of them froze at the same time.
Lin Sui quickly retracted both hands, stammering, “Eating chocolate can make you feel better. I bought you a jar. Eat a piece if you’re ever unhappy in the future.”
He quickly stuffed the jar of chocolate into Gu Nian’s arms. Without waiting for a response, he grabbed his bag and ran upstairs as quickly as a rabbit.
Gu Nian hugged the chocolate, slightly dazed, and gently licked his lips.
So sweet.
Lin Sui leaned against the bedroom door, panting. The bag in his arms fell to the ground with a thud. He unconsciously rubbed his right index finger. It was clearly dry now, but the warm, moist feeling from that moment lingered in his mind.
Ahhhhhhhh.
Lin Sui covered his face and screamed silently.
Even someone as dense as him understood how ambiguous that action was.
But, but he and Gu Nian were!
How could he face Gu Nian now!
Lin Sui threw himself on the bed, rolling around in despair, trying to roll all those memories out.
Life was collapsing, and the life of a wage-earning slave would only collapse further. Before Lin Sui could recover, his phone suddenly vibrated several times. When he took it out, he saw that the wealthy customer who had ordered the scarf was urging him to make progress.
A long string of messages bombarded him, completely disregarding the survival of the other party.
Lin Sui had no choice but to struggle to reply and then immediately start working. Fortunately, he was good at knitting this kind of thing. He had already finished half of it yesterday, so it would take at most four or five hours to complete it today.
At least he had work so he wouldn’t starve to death. Lin Sui comforted himself with tears in his eyes, grabbed his crochet hook, and buried himself in his work.
This method of diverting his attention worked well. He was a little distracted at first, but as he knitted, Lin Sui forgot about the incident.
What was romance compared to making money? Money was the best!
Thinking about his bank balance, Lin Sui finished the rest in one go, took pictures, and sent them to the boss. The other party was also very efficient and sent a whole screen of exclamation marks in no time, and readily paid the full amount plus postage, only requiring Lin Sui to send it out when he had time.
With one thing finished, Lin Sui really breathed a sigh of relief. He put the finished product in a bag and packed it, and then immediately picked up his textbook and started reviewing.
In the evening, he went downstairs to make dinner, went upstairs to do an hour of livestreaming after eating, and then continued to study until he turned off the lights and went to sleep at eleven o’clock.
Lin Sui comfortably lay in his warm quilt, feeling satisfied as he drowsily thought, today was really a fulfilling day.
It was just that he seemed to have forgotten something?
Well, since he had forgotten it, it probably wasn’t anything important.
Lin Sui peacefully fell into a sweet dream.
But in this house, there was someone happy and someone sad.
At eleven o’clock in the evening, Gu Nian was lying in bed, still wondering how Lin Sui could be so calm.
He even only ate dinner for ten minutes.
He didn’t even say a word to him.
He didn’t even come to massage him again.
Why was that?
Gu Nian couldn’t figure it out.
Not only could Gu Nian not figure it out, but he also suspected that Lin Sui had been bullied too badly to be like this. He didn’t hear him say anything about the Zhao family kid apologizing today either.
Heh, outwardly compliant but inwardly defiant. The Zhao family was capable.
The more Gu Nian thought about it, the more annoyed he became. In the end, he simply got up and started reading documents. The bedside lamp stayed on until one o’clock in the morning before he turned it off again. Gu Nian closed his eyes and forced himself to fall asleep.
If he didn’t sleep, his dark circles would be very obvious tomorrow, and Lin Sui would definitely nag him about not taking care of his body.
Gu Nian’s sleep was extremely restless. One moment, he saw images of Lin Sui being cornered and bullied until he was teary-eyed. The next moment, he saw Lin Sui secretly bandaging his wounds behind his back. Then, inexplicably, the scene suddenly changed and returned to the villa.
In the dream, Gu Nian lost his usual restraint. He looked at Lin Sui, who was lying on his lap and smiling up at him, and like an enticement, he grabbed the youth’s fidgeting hand, his gaze blazing…
The soft touch was exactly the same as during the day, but this time, this Gu Nian was more blatant, and then followed the back of his hand to a more private place…
“Bang.”
His tightly closed eyelids suddenly opened. Gu Nian sat up, covering his violently heaving chest. His breathing was hot, and a dull pain came from the top of his head.
He had moved too much just now and hit the headboard.
Only then did Gu Nian realize that he was soaked in sweat. His bangs were damp and stuck to his forehead, and the gaze beneath them still flashed with an unknown light. His sharp eyebrows were slightly raised, revealing a hint of beastly ferocity.
Damn it.
Gu Nian couldn’t help but curse under his breath.
What kind of mess was he dreaming about?
The huge waves stirred up in his heart by that dream had not yet subsided. Gu Nian could still feel the tension and anticipation that made his heart feel like it was about to jump out of his throat.
Gu Nian raised his eyes and happened to see the jar of chocolate that had been placed on the bedside table yesterday. He took one out and put it in his mouth as if possessed.
The same sweetness as yesterday, but it lost the calming effect it had yesterday. Even worse, Gu Nian felt that his body seemed to be even more restless.
Lin Sui was lying to him. Gu Nian bit the chocolate hard, thinking that chocolate couldn’t make him feel better at all. He felt even stranger now.
By the time Gu Nian calmed down, it was almost an hour later. Lin Sui had already left, leaving a note on the dining table.
Gu Nian pursed his lips and picked it up. His burning heart instantly turned cold.
Lin Sui said that he wouldn’t be back all day today, and he should heat up his own breakfast and lunch.
All day.
Gu Nian put the note in his pocket expressionlessly. The fingers holding the wheelchair controller were so forceful that his knuckles turned white, and his eyebrows revealed a hint of gloom.
Lin Sui left for the library early in the morning, and in the meantime, he sent out the scarf and the oil painting for his sugar daddy.
To be honest, he wasn’t deliberately avoiding Gu Nian. He had a make-up exam next Saturday, or else he would fail. He was already a senior, and apart from classes, what was more important was his graduation thesis and graduation project, as well as the credits that the original owner owed. He really didn’t have time to fail and retake the exam.
And more importantly, Lin Sui felt that Gu Nian’s emotions had been unstable recently. He attributed this to the fact that Gu Nian spent most of his time alone at home, and such a big house would definitely make him feel lonely. So, he wanted to finish school as soon as possible and free up more time to spend with Gu Nian.
So, from this day on, Lin Sui started leaving early and returning late. Sometimes Gu Nian couldn’t find anyone all day. It was okay at first, but as this situation continued for a week, Gu Nian finally couldn’t sit still.
One day, at four o’clock in the morning, he sat on the sofa, waiting for his prey. As expected, he caught the “prey” tiptoeing down the stairs at five o’clock.
Gu Nian looked at the surprised youth, his expression a mocking smile. “Where are you going?”
