    Chapter 24: Counterattack

Lin Sui subconsciously leaned back to avoid the direct vocal assault, his expression completely blank.

What trouble had he caused? Or was it something the original owner had done?

Lin Sui felt that if it was the latter, he had an obligation to resolve it, since he was using this body. He looked at the teacher on the platform, who was seething with anger, and politely asked, “May I ask if I’ve done something wrong?”

“You’re still asking me!” The teacher’s face darkened further, and he slammed the desk, making a loud “bang” sound. “You left the art studio in that state and ran off? What if the water all over the floor ruins other students’ work? It’s bad enough that you don’t study properly, but you’re also hindering others’ learning!”

Lin Sui frowned slightly, not bothering to consider whether Zhao Qiong was distorting the truth behind his back, and tried to explain, “It wasn’t me. Zhao Qiong splashed the water. I even got completely soaked. My dirty clothes that I changed out of are still in my bag.”

The teacher glanced at the backpack Lin Sui had placed on the chair, let out a cold laugh, and said sarcastically, “A person should be responsible for their own actions. You’re actually framing a classmate after doing something wrong. Lin Sui, get out of here. I won’t allow someone with your lack of integrity in my classroom!”

Lin Sui was inexplicably criticized, and he immediately became anxious, his almond-shaped eyes filled with grievance. “If the teacher doesn’t believe me, you can check the surveillance footage. The truth is very clear.”

However, the teacher was impervious to reason, coldly saying, “The surveillance cameras in the art studio have been broken recently. Zhao Qiong has already explained the situation to me in detail. Even if Zhao Qiong took action, it was because you provoked her first. Do you have anything else to argue?”

Lin Sui pursed his lips tightly and was about to continue speaking when he suddenly realized something, forcefully swallowing back the words of argument.

He looked at the indifferent man in front of him, understanding that anything he said would be useless.

The teacher wasn’t there to uphold justice at all.

Whether he had received some benefit from Zhao Qiong or simply wanted to curry favor with the Zhao family, it was clear that the other party was determined to push all the blame onto him.

Lin Sui felt as if he were in an ice cellar, even more uncomfortable and disgusted than when he had been soaking wet. His hands, which had been hanging by his sides, clenched and then released. Lin Sui took a deep breath and, without a word, picked up his bag and walked out of the classroom.

Watching his figure disappear at the door, the teacher on the platform sneered and picked up his book, starting to lecture by rote.

The drowsy voice echoed in the large classroom, and no other sound could be heard.

The students below looked at each other, but ultimately chose to remain silent.

Only Shi Qingzhou quietly put away his mobile phone, which he had been using to record, and locked the screen after sending the video to someone.

After Lin Sui left the classroom, he went directly to the school’s surveillance room. There was only a logistics teacher guarding the place, who frowned when he saw Lin Sui. “Students aren’t allowed here. Get out of here quickly.”

“Has anyone been here just now?” Lin Sui directly ignored the order to leave and asked.

The logistics teacher’s eyes shifted, and, feeling even more impatient because of his guilty conscience, he said, “I already said that students aren’t allowed here. How could anyone have come?”

Lin Sui’s pupils turned colder. “I didn’t say it was a student.”

The logistics teacher stiffened for a moment, then stood up in a fit of anger and pushed Lin Sui. “Hurry up and leave. Students aren’t allowed to linger here. Don’t come here looking for trouble.”

Lin Sui didn’t resist. After watching the surveillance room door close, he went straight to the dean’s office.

    “Knock, knock, knock.”

    “Come in.”

A gentle voice came from inside the door. Lin Sui took a deep breath, pushed open the door, and walked in.

“Student, what can I do for you?” A middle-aged woman with long hair looked at Lin Sui at the door with a kind expression and a gentle tone.

Lin Sui had almost no experience dealing with this type of elder, so he somewhat awkwardly “uhm”ed, his voice very soft. “Someone deliberately splashed water in the art studio and ruined the assignments. My assignment was also stepped on and broken. I’m here to report that someone is committing campus violence and colluding with a teacher to frame someone else as a scapegoat.”

After summoning up the courage to say this, Lin Sui nervously glanced at the dean, his heart feeling uneasy.

The reason he dared to say this so directly was because he had researched the university’s information online on the way there and unexpectedly discovered that their Academy of Fine Arts’ dean was no ordinary person. In addition to being a well-known painter, she also came from a wealthy family and wasn’t afraid of the Zhao family’s influence at all.

More importantly, this dean was known for being protective of her students. She had once directly fought with a somewhat famous painter for the sake of a student, and in the end, she had won the public opinion battle and nailed the plagiarizing painter to the pillar of shame.

Sure enough, the woman, who had just had a gentle smile, immediately darkened her expression, signaled Lin Sui to sit opposite her, and said seriously, “Student, do you have any evidence? If you don’t, you’re slandering others, and the situation is serious enough to warrant a demerit.”

Lin Sui breathed a sigh of relief and nodded like a chick pecking at rice. “Yes, yes, I secretly recorded it.” After saying that, he quickly took out his mobile phone, opened the recording software, placed it on the table, and started playing it.

There were two recordings. The first was Zhao Qiong’s sarcastic remarks in the art studio, starting from when Lin Sui’s hand was stepped on and injured. The second was what the teacher had said to Lin Sui in class. The content was so superficial in its cover-up that even a child could tell that he was deliberately favoring one side and throwing blame.

This was all thanks to Lin Sui being cautious ever since he transmigrated, fearing that he would encounter something like Zhang Xu’s incident on the wedding day and not be able to explain it, so he had developed the habit of recording things at any time.

He just didn’t expect it to play such a big role at this time.

After listening, the dean’s face had already turned ashen. She instantly switched to a kind expression towards Lin Sui and said with pity, “I will investigate this matter thoroughly. If the situation is true, the relevant students and teachers will definitely receive the punishment they deserve. You can rest assured.”

Of course Lin Sui was reassured. He had no other way to deal with this situation now aside from trusting the dean, so he obediently nodded and replied, “Thank you, Dean. Then I’ll go back to class.”

The dean smiled and nodded, finding Lin Sui more and more pleasing the more she looked at him. Not only was he good-looking, but his personality was also well-behaved but not weak. When it was time to resist, he didn’t hesitate at all. So, her tone became even gentler. “Don’t go to class. I’ll go talk to that teacher in detail. You just caught a cold, so go back and drink more hot water to avoid catching a cold.”

Lin Sui felt a warmth in his heart upon hearing the concern. The little soft hairs on his head perked up spiritedly, swaying in the air as Lin Sui bowed. “Thank you, I’ll go back now.”

The door to the office closed, and in the next second, Dean Shi Xiangyun’s amiable and approachable demeanor suddenly changed. She picked up her mobile phone and dialed a number, her tone grim, “Get me the surveillance footage from the oil painting department’s studio now. Even if it’s been damaged, you need to find a way to get it to me, or you can wait to be fired.”

After Lin Sui came out of the office, he went straight back to the dormitory. With the dean’s assurance, he wasn’t afraid that the truth wouldn’t be found out and he would be wronged. He wholeheartedly started doing something else.

The original owner didn’t study at all. He didn’t know where the textbooks had been thrown, and Lin Sui had to spend a lot of effort to find them all. After dusting them off, he opened them and, unsurprisingly, didn’t see any signs of use.

He could only comfort himself that at least he could find them and didn’t have to buy them again. These days, a set of textbooks for a major cost several thousand, and he didn’t have that kind of money to waste.

But there was also good news. Lin Sui also found a few canvases and a large bucket of paint. There were all kinds of colors, so it would definitely be enough to complete the assignment.

    If he could paint it.

Lin Sui smiled wryly, put the painting supplies away, and picked out a book on oil painting techniques, sitting down at his desk to focus on reading.

Time flew by. The dormitory door was opened, and Shi Qingzhou walked in with a cup of hot ginger tea. When he saw Lin Sui reading, he was no longer shocked at all.

From the moment he met Lin Sui today, this guy had been full of anomalies. A big change in personality was one thing, but he even dared to go directly to the dean to file a complaint. He should know that Lin Sui used to care the most about face, and he would rather go to the door himself to fight and take revenge than ask the teacher for help.

Shi Qingzhou put the ginger tea on Lin Sui’s desk and casually glanced at the book he was reading, unable to help but say, “Isn’t this the book we use in our third year?”

Lin Sui didn’t feel embarrassed at all. He turned another page without looking away from the book and replied, “My foundation is too weak, and I have to take a make-up exam next week. The counselor said that if I don’t pass, I’ll have to extend my studies.”

Speaking of the words “extend my studies,” Lin Sui obviously became serious, and he seemed to have the determination to memorize the book cover to cover.

He turned his head to look at Shi Qingzhou, his eyes curved, and he said softly, “Thank you for bringing me the ginger tea. I’ll treat you to a meal later.”

Shi Qingzhou uncomfortably responded and turned back to his bed. Lin Sui turned his head and continued reading, seemingly hearing rustling sounds in his ear, but he didn’t pay attention to them.

After he probably read two more pages, Shi Qingzhou didn’t know when he had stood behind him. Lin Sui felt someone there and subconsciously leaned back, looking up at him, and felt a hard, square thing press against his back.

“This is for you.” Shi Qingzhou shoved a stack of notebooks into Lin Sui’s arms. Lin Sui hadn’t even seen what was written when he heard Shi Qingzhou’s deliberately casual voice, “These are some notes I took. I won’t be using them anymore anyway, so I’ll give them to you.”

Lin Sui flipped open the first page and immediately saw the neat and delicate notes. Flipping through them again, everything from beginning to end was written neatly, with various colors of pens used to mark the key points, which was enough to see the owner’s effort.

Such a set of notes must have required a lot of effort, and even if they weren’t needed, they wouldn’t be given to someone casually.

Lin Sui didn’t expose Shi Qingzhou’s awkward kindness. He smiled at Shi Qingzhou, his curved eyebrows and eyes especially beautiful. “I’ll treat you to a big meal when I finish the exam!”

Shi Qingzhou raised his chin and hummed, but he didn’t refuse. He returned to his desk with reserve and sat down to do his own thing.

He wondered why he hadn’t noticed before that Lin Sui was so good-looking. It wasn’t in vain that he had specially asked his aunt to help.

He was just feeling pity for beauty and had a sense of justice for punishing evil and promoting good.

Because he had left breakfast for Gu Nian in advance, Lin Sui wasn’t in a hurry to go back. He went to the cafeteria with Shi Qingzhou for a meal and then went to the library to continue reading. He didn’t get up until three o’clock in the afternoon when he rubbed his eyes and prepared to leave.

He had turned off the sound on his mobile phone while reading. Lin Sui was carrying heavy books and painting supplies and was about to call for a car when he realized that the message he had posted yesterday had already been replied to.

Lin Sui was so excited that he forgot the weight of the books on his back and immediately clicked on the avatar to send a private message.

[Are you still there? I can weave all styles. Do you have any requirements?]

Almost immediately after this message was sent, the other party replied.

[No special requirements, just needs to be good-looking, and the price isn’t a problem. But I need it urgently, the sooner the better. I can add money.]

Lin Sui felt the wonderful feeling of being smashed with money, and calculated his recent time, happily typing, [Okay, do I prepare the materials myself, or do you send them over?]

[You buy them. The materials also need to be expensive. Just ask me for reimbursement. Send me photos when the finished product comes out. I’ll transfer the money immediately if there are no problems.]

[Put the finished product at this address: ×××××. I see that you’re in the same city, so it shouldn’t be a problem, right?]

Lin Sui sent a rabbit “OK” emoticon, then put his mobile phone in his pocket, unable to resist jumping in place a little.

Little Lin won’t have to go hungry!
