    Chapter 23: Injury

Lin Sui looked at the pimpled face, racking his brains to recall the person’s identity from the original owner’s memories.

Come to think of it, this person had some similarities with the original owner. He was also an illegitimate son of a wealthy family, named Zhao Qiong. The biggest difference between him and the original owner was that he was relatively favored, and he particularly disliked the original owner, finding his greatest pleasure in bullying him in various ways.

Verbal taunts like this were common, and tearing up homework and framing him behind his back were commonplace. Coupled with the original owner’s arrogant and domineering personality, it created the infamous reputation of Lin Sui at school.

Lin Sui wasn’t interested in student squabbles. Since the other person wanted the canvas, he could have it. At worst, he could go to the neighboring medical school and ask for another one. He bent down to pick up the drawing board, wondering whether to repaint one to submit.

A split second before his slender fingers touched the drawing board, a black and white Nike shoe suddenly stomped down swiftly and fiercely on Lin Sui’s hand. Lin Sui’s pupils constricted. Although he retracted his hand quickly, his little finger was still grazed, and a string of blood beads appeared.

The blood beads dripped down his palm, and a few fell onto the painting due to inertia. The already unattractive oil painting now had an abrupt patch of red, making it even more unsightly.

However, whether it was ugly or not was secondary, because the drawing board had already been stomped in half by Zhao Qiong.

Lin Sui looked at the lifeless drawing board, pursing his lips in silence.

Zhao Qiong’s smile grew wider as he watched Lin Sui’s expression. He stomped heavily on the drawing board with his foot, sneering, “What’s with that expression? Making it seem like you love studying so much. Anyway, submitting this thing would only result in it ending up in the trash. I’m helping you get rid of it in advance. Shouldn’t you thank me?”

Lin Sui remained silent in the face of the provocation. His warm amber pupils were tinged with iciness, and his usually vibrant voice lowered, “Take your foot off.”

Zhao Qiong rolled his eyes, disdainfully saying, “What’s wrong, Lin Sui? You’ve got backbone now that you’ve married a cripple? You dare order me around? Looks like your skin is itching again.”

Lin Sui was expressionless. He bent down and pulled a part of the drawing board from under Zhao Qiong’s foot. Holding the corner, he pointed the side with wood splinters straight towards Zhao Qiong’s neck, his voice very calm, “Anyway, I have nothing to be afraid of now. At worst, we’ll just fight. But I heard that the eldest son of the Zhao family has already taken office in the company. Guess whether he’ll be able to keep you out of the Zhao Corporation for life if he hears about you fighting with me now.”

He clearly had a gentle and well-behaved face, but the words he spoke at this moment were like those of a desperate and reckless wolf. His almond-shaped eyes, which should have seemed soft, carried a hint of innocent cruelty, every word hitting Zhao Qiong’s weak spot.

Zhao Qiong’s expression turned from green to white, his eyes looking at Lin Sui as if he wanted to devour him, but he didn’t dare to actually make a move.

Lin Sui snorted coldly, threw the drawing board aside, and turned to leave. Anyway, his assignment was gone. He had to hurry up and repaint one, hoping to get some participation marks.

Zhao Qiong looked darkly at the young man’s slender back, his reddened eyes darting around. Looking at the bucket of water for cleaning paintbrushes in the corner, he suddenly smiled, picked it up, and splashed it at Lin Sui.

Lin Sui was walking when he was caught off guard and drenched in water.

His soft black hair plastered to his forehead, and his white T-shirt clung tightly to his body. He shivered from the air conditioning in the classroom. The dirty water, mixed with various pigments, stained Lin Sui’s clothes in patches, making him look like he had just crawled out of a trash can.

    “Ah!”

At the same time, the studio door opened, and a fashionable man happened to see this scene, and couldn’t help but scream, covering his mouth.

There was a lot of water in that bucket. Lin Sui was soaked from head to toe. He flipped his wet bangs, exhaled, and the fire suppressed in his heart instantly surged up. He was a little out of control, turned around, and prepared to continue what he hadn’t done just now.

The wooden board on the ground hadn’t been taken away yet, perfect as a weapon. Before Lin Sui could pick it up, his arm was tugged. He looked back and saw the person who had just entered.

The newcomer seemed to be a student in their studio as well, but the way he looked at him was a little strange, mixed with pity and disgust. He kept a distance and lowered his voice, saying, “Don’t argue with him. You can’t win against him. The teacher will definitely scold us later. Hurry up and go back to change your clothes.”

With this pull, the fire that had risen up in Lin Sui was interrupted and wasn’t as strong anymore. He looked at this person who seemed to be his classmate, and a guess popped up in his mind.

    “Are you my roommate?”

Shi Qingzhou almost turned around and ignored him when he heard this. He had lived together for four years and still didn’t know who he was, being bullied was his own fault. But after all, they had been classmates for so many years, he still held back, and said stiffly, “Yes.”

Lin Sui glanced back at Zhao Qiong, whose face was full of provocation. After weighing it carefully, he nodded. The hostility on his face disappeared, and he showed Shi Qingzhou a shy smile, “Um, can you take me there? I don’t really remember where it is. Thank you.”

Shi Qingzhou showed an expression as horrified as the counselor, subconsciously looking out the window. The sun hadn’t risen from the west today, had it?

Lin Sui was actually being so polite to him?

Shi Qingzhou felt so surreal, he nodded blankly, and led the drenched Lin Sui away from the studio.

Seeing this, Zhao Qiong snorted coldly, but secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He really didn’t dare to cause any trouble at school at this critical moment. However, being pointed out by Lin Sui, his rival, made him particularly unhappy.

Fortunately, the other party retreated in the face of difficulties in time, otherwise he would have been embarrassed.

After leaving the studio, Lin Sui obediently followed behind his roommate, Shi Qingzhou. His fluffy head became wet, and his head seemed to be slightly lowered by the weight of his hair. From the side, one could only see his overly long eyelashes trembling slightly. Without doing anything, he had a pitiful look.

Almost everyone who passed by him showed a change in expression of surprise – pity – anger – temptation.

Who actually bullied such a pretty little thing! I really want to take him back and wash him clean, men and women alike thought unanimously out of different feelings.

Shi Qingzhou walked ahead with a straight face. After receiving countless condemning gazes, he couldn’t bear it anymore and stopped, turning to look at Lin Sui, who was as well-behaved as a little duck.

Lin Sui looked up blankly, his apricot eyes with a hint of doubt as if to say, why aren’t you walking anymore?

    Shi Qingzhou: …

Damn it, why is this guy so good-looking!

Shi Qingzhou took off his jacket, and covered Lin Sui without allowing him to refuse, “Wear this for me.” He didn’t want to be stared at by others with the eyes of a heartless man again.

Lin Sui touched the jacket, his eyes sparkling with warm light as he smiled sincerely, “Thank you, you’re really a good person.”

Shi Qingzhou pinched the neck of the little man inside him who wanted to hug Lin Sui and coax him, stuttering, “I, I’m not deliberately helping you. Remember to wash the clothes clean for me later.”

Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah, it’s so embarrassing, he actually stuttered! Shi Qingzhou blushed with shame.

Lin Sui and Gu Nian had lived together for the past two days and had already mastered the use of irony. Hearing this, he couldn’t help but think that his roommate was as tsundere as Gu Nian, and his smile became even brighter, “Okay, thank you anyway!”

Shi Qingzhou was completely helpless, and continued to walk stiffly towards the dormitory, his entire ears red.

The university that the original owner attended had excellent infrastructure, with four beds over desks, and independent bathrooms. The other two people in the dormitory had already moved out, and the school hadn’t arranged for anyone else to move in, so only Lin Sui and Shi Qingzhou were living there. Shi Qingzhou took out a set of clothes from his closet and threw them over, “Take a shower and change, hurry up, we have a big class this morning.”

Lin Sui thanked him again and quickly went into the bathroom to take a quick shower, and came out in twenty minutes, holding the dirty clothes he had changed out of, apologizing to Shi Qingzhou, “I might not be able to wash them for a while, is it okay if I give them to you tomorrow?”

Shi Qingzhou felt a little strange, “It’s so hot today, they’ll dry the same day, why tomorrow?”

Lin Sui was stunned for a moment, and explained, “I won’t be living on campus anymore.”

Hearing this, Shi Qingzhou didn’t show a surprised expression. After hesitating for a long time, he asked tentatively, “Um, not that I’m being gossipy, but is it true that you got married, as said on the school forum?” He said it vaguely, but the forum had much harsher things to say, directly saying that Lin Sui had married an old man to climb the social ladder, and that he was a disabled person with paralyzed legs.

Lin Sui found a plastic bag and packed the clothes, and answered without thinking, “Yeah, I got married.” He looked back at Shi Qingzhou, a little embarrassed, “Do you want wedding candy? I didn’t bring it today, I can bring you a portion tomorrow.”

“No no no no.” Shi Qingzhou shook his head frantically. Seeing Lin Sui’s calm appearance, he didn’t dare to say anything more, awkwardly saying, “No need, I’m controlling my sugar intake because I’m on a diet recently.” He quickly changed the subject, “Let’s go, they’re going to call roll soon.”

Lin Sui said “oh” and followed him, stuffing the dirty clothes into his bag. The two of them arrived at the classroom five minutes before class started, with only seats in the front row left.

Lin Sui didn’t mind. He sat in the first row excitedly. The university environment that he had longed for made him both excited and expectant, secretly thinking about giving the teacher a good impression later… even if it was just a little bit in the right direction.

University classrooms are often full of people slacking off, especially for boring theoretical classes. Many people come here just to check in and then catch up on sleep. Only Lin Sui was full of energy, his hands on his knees in a student’s posture, his glittering eyes seeming to exude a thirst for knowledge, looking too well-behaved.

The class bell rang slowly, and a middle-aged man with glasses walked in, holding a book. He walked to the podium without saying a word, his eyes sweeping around the classroom with a dignified look, finally settling on Lin Sui in the first row, a trace of surprise flashing in his eyes.

Lin Sui thought to himself that he was right to take the initiative to sit in the first row, the teacher must be starting to change his opinion of him!

However, the next second was completely contrary to what Lin Sui imagined. The teacher slammed the book on the podium, raised his eyebrows, pointed at Lin Sui, and opened his mouth with a sharp voice.

“Lin Sui! Stand up for me! You dare to sit here openly after causing trouble, are you trying to anger me on purpose!”

    Lin Sui:?
