AMTBYIGA Chapter 20
by VolareChapter 20: Medicated Oil
Although he joked about Gu Nian when they were outside, Lin Sui had actually never been to a vegetable market before. As soon as he entered, he couldn’t help but look around with curiosity. The vegetable market was very noisy, and he could hear bargaining and asking prices every few steps. He skipped and hopped between the stalls, his little head spinning. He asked Gu Nian, “Is there anything you want to eat?”
Gu Nian leaned tightly against the back of his wheelchair, his handsome face tense, trying to reduce the smell in the air by breathing lightly. He replied in a muffled voice, “I don’t have any allergies, buy whatever you want.”
Lin Sui gave an “oh” and quickly took a fancy to a stall selling tomatoes. He picked up a bright red fruit and asked the stall owner, an older woman, in a plausible manner, “How much is this per pound, ma’am?”
The young man had an obedient face, with a natural smile at the corners of his mouth, and round, clear eyes. His voice was soft, making him the type elders loved most. The older woman selling tomatoes said cheerfully, “Five yuan a pound, buy more and it’s cheaper!”
Lin Sui calculated in his heart and thought it was a good deal. He pulled out a plastic bag, picked out a few nice-looking ones, put them in, and said with a smile, “Then I’ll take these, thank you, ma’am.”
The auntie, who had been called “ma’am,” smiled so wide that the corners of her mouth almost reached the back of her ears. The more she looked at this young man, the more she liked him. While weighing the tomatoes, she couldn’t help but chat, “Young man, you’re so handsome, do you have a partner? If not, I have someone I can recommend to you.”
Gu Nian, who had been quiet and withdrawn, frowned upon hearing this, but the next second, he controlled himself and relaxed. His deep gaze was fixed on Lin Sui, and he felt inexplicably uncomfortable.
There were too many people and it was too chaotic in the vegetable market, so Lin Sui didn’t notice. He generously pointed to Gu Nian beside him and politely declined, “Thank you, ma’am, but I’m already married. See, we came to buy groceries together today.”
The vegetable-selling auntie exclaimed in surprise, then her gaze subconsciously fell on Gu Nian’s legs. Realizing it was inappropriate, she immediately retracted her gaze and said awkwardly, “I really didn’t know, don’t take it to heart, you two.”
Gu Nian pursed his lips and shifted the bag Lin Sui had given him onto his lap, his fingers tightly gripping the bag, his fingers ice-cold.
Lin Sui didn’t mind at all. After receiving the tomatoes and paying, he continued pushing Gu Nian forward.
Relying on his naturally good looks and pleasing personality, Lin Sui was invincible in the vegetable market, which was full of older men and women. He got a small bag of free green onions, ginger, and garlic, not to mention the rounded-down prices.
Considering that it was a bit of a distance from here to the City Center Villa District, Lin Sui bought a large amount of ingredients in one go, enough for him and Gu Nian to eat for a week. After leaving the vegetable market to wait for the car, he let Gu Nian hold the vegetables with less odor, while he carried the fish and meat himself.
Gu Nian was somewhat absent-minded, hugging various vegetables listlessly, not even hearing Lin Sui calling him.
“Gu Nian!”
Seeing that Gu Nian was ignoring him, Lin Sui simply leaned close to his ear and shouted loudly. Gu Nian suddenly came back to his senses, his heart beating violently, whether from fright or something else, and it took a long time to calm down.
“Give me the bag.”
Gu Nian heard Lin Sui’s words and handed over the backpack closest to him.
Lin Sui took it, unzipped it, found a thermos, poured a cup of hot water with the lid, and put it in Gu Nian’s hand. He casually pinched his fingertip and said worriedly, “Wear more clothes if you’re cold. I brought it for you on purpose. Drink some hot water to warm up, and you’ll be fine when you get home.”
Gu Nian held the water cup, the warm steam enveloping his face, instantly melting the frost in his eyes. He didn’t remind Lin Sui that it was still summer in September, and said faintly, “Give it to me.”
Lin Sui was confused, “Give what?”
Gu Nian said succinctly, “The vegetables.” As he spoke, he glanced at the plastic bags in Lin Sui’s hand.
Lin Sui followed his gaze and was immediately flattered, becoming uncharacteristically shy, “No need, don’t you dislike these smells? Besides, they’re not heavy anyway.”
Gu Nian didn’t speak, but his eyes, staring at the colorful plastic bags, didn’t move away for a moment. Seeing him insist, Lin Sui tied the plastic bags tightly before handing them over.
So when the driver arrived, he saw his aloof and refined boss holding a large pile of colorful plastic bags, listening to Lin Sui with a cold expression.
Lin Sui was rambling about the success of this grocery shopping trip, and only stopped reluctantly when he noticed the car had arrived, happily returning to the villa with Gu Nian.
Back home, Lin Sui immediately put the purchased ingredients into the refrigerator one by one. After finishing, he looked at the refrigerator, which was full and completely refreshed compared to yesterday, and happily prepared to cook.
As soon as Gu Nian came in, he went upstairs to his room and called his assistant.
“Investigate Lin Sui again, this time in more detail, preferably including his childhood experiences.” As soon as the call connected, Gu Nian gave the order.
On the other end of the phone was a slightly frivolous male voice, who first acknowledged the order, then began to complain.
“Old Gu, you’re too inhuman. You throw all the company’s affairs to me, and you stay at home enjoying your honeymoon. Now you’re increasing my workload.” The man said sarcastically, “I heard from Zhou Shan that your wife is quite good, even protecting you. Why are you still investigating him so much? Aren’t you afraid of a chase-wife crematorium in the future?”
Gu Nian was too lazy to pay attention to this guy’s nonsense and said directly, “Jiang Sheng, if you keep talking nonsense, you can go to Africa to expand our business.”
Jiang Sheng immediately surrendered, “Investigate, right? I’ll give it to you tonight.”
After speaking, he quickly hung up the phone, afraid that Gu Nian would do what he said.
Gu Nian was just scaring him to make him do his job properly. He casually threw his phone on the table, opened a file, and closed it expressionlessly after half an hour, not having read a single word.
Damn it, why is his mind full of Lin Sui!
Speak of the devil, and the devil appears. Suddenly, Lin Sui’s voice came from outside the door.
“Dinner’s ready!”
The voice seemed to have some kind of magic. Gu Nian subconsciously turned his wheelchair towards the door, and only realized halfway that he seemed to be a little too obedient. After hesitating for a while, he still opened the door and went to the first-floor dining room with Lin Sui.
It was agreed in advance that this was only because Lin Sui’s cooking was indeed good, and it was wrong to waste food.
Lin Sui diligently pushed the two meat dishes in front of Gu Nian, enthusiastically recommending, “Try the Coca-Cola chicken wings, are they good?”
Gu Nian slowly removed the bones and put the chicken into his mouth. A few seconds later, his Adam’s apple bobbed, and before his brain could react, his mouth opened: “Very delicious.”
The corners of Lin Sui’s mouth turned up a few degrees, and his eyes lit up. He was so happy that the tail behind him was about to shake into a propeller, “Really? I was worried you wouldn’t be used to it. No one has ever eaten my cooking before. I’m glad you like it.”
Gu Nian paused slightly upon hearing the second half of the sentence, and his mood inexplicably improved.
A pot of rice was quickly cleaned up with four dishes and a soup. The dishes were basically empty as well. Lin Sui happily carried a stack of bowls and plates to the kitchen. What could make a chef happier than having everything eaten?
Gu Nian narrowed his eyes, feeling pleased. He looked at Lin Sui’s joyful back for a moment, then abruptly opened his mouth, “What’s wrong with your leg?”
Lin Sui had just put things away, and was stunned when he heard this, turning back in confusion, “What’s wrong with my leg?”
Gu Nian didn’t ask again, but directly turned his wheelchair and pulled Lin Sui to the sofa, ordering him without refusal, “Pull up your pants.”
Lin Sui thought of something, and his action of bending down paused. He said defensively, “It’s really nothing.”
Gu Nian didn’t believe it at all. Seeing that he didn’t move, he directly hugged Lin Sui onto the sofa, put his legs on his own, and neatly pulled up his pants above the knee.
He saw a large area of bruising on the originally fair skin of his knee. Because it hadn’t been treated for a long time, it had slightly turned black, forming a sharp contrast with the surrounding skin.
Lin Sui tried to save his leg, but Gu Nian was holding it too tightly, so he had to explain, “It’s really not a big deal, it just looks scary. Rubbing some medicine on it will be fine.”
Gu Nian lowered his eyes, as if he didn’t hear anything, and didn’t move. His heart was in a state of chaos.
Lin Sui had been with him all day, and he knew better than anyone where this bruise came from.
Apart from the fact that kneeling at the temple required kneeling on both knees for a long time, even if he fell, it wouldn’t be this serious.
Gu Nian looked at the red string on his wrist for a while, and then at the injury on Lin Sui’s knee. It took him a long time to find his voice, “I’ll apply the medicine for you.”
Lin Sui blinked, still not quite understanding what Gu Nian was thinking, but it certainly wasn’t a bad thing for Gu Nian to take the initiative to apply the medicine for him, so he obediently agreed.
However, he didn’t expect that the medicine Gu Nian was talking about wasn’t in the living room but in his own room. This was the first time Lin Sui had come in. After seeing the minimalist black and white style of the room, he couldn’t help but click his tongue, as expected of a domineering president.
Gu Nian settled Lin Sui on the single sofa, and went to the drawer to take out a bottle of medicated oil. After arriving at Lin Sui’s side, he patted his leg to signal.
It took a while for Lin Sui to realize that he was supposed to put his leg on it. He immediately wanted to refuse, but when he saw Gu Nian’s deep eyes, he inexplicably swallowed the words of refusal and honestly pulled up his pants and put his leg on Gu Nian’s leg.
When he put it up, he was still thinking that Gu Nian was really a good person.
It was just that this thought didn’t last long before it disappeared.
Gu Nian applied oil to his hands and rubbed them to warm them up. His broad hands with calluses could cover Lin Sui’s entire knee, and then—he rubbed hard.
“Ouch!”
Lin Sui was caught off guard and yelled out in pain. Physiological tears welled up in the corners of his eyes, and he subconsciously wanted to pull his leg back. Gu Nian didn’t even lift his eyelids, firmly grabbing Lin Sui’s calf and rubbing it hard without any mercy.
“Stop, stop, stop, hiss, it hurts so much, it hurts so much! Gu Nian, let me go, it hurts so much, it hurts so much!” Lin Sui couldn’t bear the pain and couldn’t break free, so he pitifully begged Gu Nian, trying to please him by rubbing his hand against Gu Nian’s hand, hoping to be forgiven.
Gu Nian’s hand was touched by the small, tender hand, and he felt a heat, but it still didn’t affect the strength in his hand, “It must be rubbed open, otherwise it will be even more uncomfortable tomorrow.”
After saying that, he didn’t listen to Lin Sui’s soft begging and pleading, and rubbed even harder. Lin Sui was in so much pain that his soul ascended, and finally he couldn’t even make a sound. He only slightly cheered up after Gu Nian twisted the cap of the medicated oil bottle closed.
This time, Lin Sui was really in terrible pain. The hair on his forehead was stuck to his forehead with cold sweat, looking like a pitiful little cat that had been abandoned, humming softly, “Gu Nian, you have to compensate me.”
Gu Nian nodded without much hesitation, “Okay.”
He thought that even if Lin Sui’s true nature was exposed now and he asked for a large sum of money or asked him to support the Lin family or even divorced him, he, Gu Nian, would accept it.
